Chapter 92 - Pain and ointment

"Ethan's point of view,"

"Mrs. Wood's, are you ready to go?" I turned my face to look at her beautiful face.

She left me with no other option, even though I knew I was acting like a ruthless CEO. She vehemently rejected my offer to serve as my company's financial counselor, despite my requests.

She has no right to refuse me; how could she turn down my offer? I'm Ethan Woods. Nobody dares to refuse me. How can a woman turn down my offer when top degree holders are desperate to work in wood construction? My male ego overtook me.

Why are you acting like a spoiled brat, Ethan? She can't drive a car since she broke her leg. It seems like she goes against all of your expectations. My subconscious attempted to reconsider my choice.

Shut up; no one can say no to me. I shut off my subconscious.

If she wins the car race, what would you do?

Not! With her broken leg, she will never risk driving the car. She will give up in light of my condition. I dropped the idea of joining her in a car race after looking at her with the anticipation that she would surely accept my offer.

"Sure, Mr. Woods, I'm ready. Let's start the race."

"What?" She deflated my masculine ego once more. Her ability to consistently surprise me with her reactions never failed.

You need to put your manhood aside if you wish to capture Stella Parker's heart; I've already told you that she's no ordinary woman. She'll never submit to your authority. Once again, my absurd subconscious tormented me.

Can you please be quiet? I'm already really irritated. I expressed my frustration by tightly gripping my fist.

"Do you want to risk injury by driving the car? I don't see why you can't just accept my offer without making a fuss." This woman seriously lost her mind. How could she put up with my foolish condition?

"Mr. Woods, I am a self-made woman; I am not the kind of woman who runs away from pain. Your peculiar condition is something I will never accept unless I give it my all." She grabbed my car key out of my fingers and made her way over to my Ferrari.

What the fuck is this?

This woman exudes such incredible confidence. Her self-assured gaze drives me insane. To begin the race with my CEO wife, I made my way to my Lamborghini.

"Good luck, Mr. Woods." She smirked into the rearview mirror of her car.

"Thanks, Mrs. Woods. May the best guy win." With an evil smirk, I visualized myself holding the winning trophy.

That would be considered cheating. This is completely unfair; how could you fight against a weak opponent? Once more, my subconscious attempted to induce guilt in me.

Shut up, don't you know everything is fair in love and war? An inflated sense of masculinity prompted me to turn the key to the ignition.

So, is it love or war between the two of you? I felt a quizzical feeling in my gut. Whatever it is—I don't know—I want to win this race at any cost. I have never faced defeat in my life.

Do you honestly not remember that this woman has already defeated you many times?

If you compliment her again, I'll sue you in court for defaming your boss. I made it very obvious to my subconscious that it was time to quit siding with Stella Parker.

"Let's go, one, two, three."

After shifting into high gear, I held the steering wheel and concentrated on the road.

Yes, that's what I want.

I've already traveled halfway, but I still haven't found Stella Parker. I know she can't beat me, but that obstinate woman won't ever admit it. I've already asked her nicely to accept my offer, but it seems like she didn't appreciate my manner. Now I have to complete my race alone. In actuality, she is a weak competitor.

Just as the finish line was in sight, I brought my Lamborghini to a halt. Where is she? Why has she not arrived yet? I'm worried about her now. What would happen if she got into an accident?

Oh no, I shouldn't have left her by herself. Should I give her a call to find out where she is?

No way; you can't display your weakness to your opponent in that way. The need to appease my masculine ego made me return my phone to my pocket.

But you need to go check on her since she has a fractured leg. Once more, my subconscious makes me feel bad about the decision I made.

Oh my god, I can't stop thinking about that woman. I became mad and kicked the door of my car. I feel compelled to return to see how she's doing. I can't callously treat her. I had to do a U-turn because my guilt overwhelmed me.

I turned my car to drive back to find her, and that's when her car sped past me like a rocket.

What the fuck is this? I quickly maneuvered my car to get to the finish line, but to my disappointment, she had already made it there before me.

"Stella Parker, this is cheating. I refuse to accept your victory." Angrily, I opened my car door.

"Why? Now, what did I do wrong?" She shrugged. Her charming grin only heightened my rage.

"Stella Parker, I won't acknowledge you as the winner since you weren't a fair winner. You must now not only join my organization as a financial counselor but also share your home."

"In your dreams, Mr. Woods. I will not satisfy your demands in any way." She ignored me and proceeded to her car. Oh no, her foot is bleeding. I looked down at her feet. She had trouble walking properly, and witnessing her limp melted my heart.

"Let me help you, Stella." Before she could lose her balance and fall to the ground, I reached out and grasped her hand.

"Ethan, I don't need anyone's help; I'm OK." I tried to read her expression from her face, but all I could see was cracking in her voice rather than any visible pain.

I glanced into her beautiful eyes and noticed a void there. I can't believe what I did. I seriously hurt her. I had no idea my ego hurt her that badly.

However, Miss Parker's tenacity is also to blame for her suffering, so it's not all my fault. I argued with my male ego. Just shut up and take her to the doctor with some humanity. There is a mix of disappointment and anger in my subconscious.

"Let me help you, Stella."

"No, Mr. Woods, I'm alright; I'll handle it." She hobbled up to her car after yanking my hand from her shoulder.

"That's enough; you can't consistently refuse me. No matter how obstinate you are, you have to listen to me now." I seized her with my arms and made her sit in my car.

"Mr. Woods, I have some urgent work to do, so let me go." She attempted to unbuckle her seatbelt.

"Please, Miss Parker, do not attempt to test my tolerance; else, you will witness my imposing and bossy side in action in this car."

"Are you trying to scare me?"

Oh my goodness, this woman never ceases to irritate me. Why is it that she is unable to perceive my anger?

"Stella, could you just quiet down for a moment, or will I have to use my methods to silence you?"

"You can not control me in this manner, Mr. Woods. Have you forgotten that you have no authority over me and that our marriage is based on a contract?"

"Say one more word now, or I'll show you my control over you." Coming to a complete halt, I unbuckled my seatbelt.

"Wah...."

I kissed her on the lips before she could even finish speaking. I am annoyed with this woman. She first defeated me, and now she isn't even listening to me. Stella Parker seems to me like the salve and the anguish all at once.

She is the source of my irritation; however, I have found solace in sucking her pulpy lips.
