Chapter 24 - 24: The decision is yours

"P-Please, forgive me! I-I made a mistake. I will never-"

The guard was out of luck, but he realized it quickly.

He realized his mistake when the shorter girl called the blond one a 'princess.'

The only person with this title and appearance was Imperial Princess Yunjin.

'I-I am dead! How did I not recognize that madness in the princess's eyes until now? There is no way I will survive this. I should beg for my family to be spares at least.'

The guard was about to beg more when the other guards and Minister Xiao appeared.

Minister Xiao's entrance brought hope into the guard's life, but it was exhausted as soon as Master Xiao opened his mouth and greeted the princess.

"Imperial Princess Yunjin, it is an honor to be in your presence. Has my guard offended you in any way? If so, you can do whatever you want to him."

The minister clarified that he had nothing to do with the guard.

It drained out the last hope the guard had left in his body. He was about to resign to his fate when a miracle happened.

"I'm free to do whatever I want, huh? Then, Sui! I will place the life of this man in your hand. He insulted you as much as he insulted me, so do as you please with him."

Everyone held in their gasps as soon as they heard the princess.

Princess Yunjin was famous for not listening to the emperor, so what were the chances of her asking her companion?

This made everyone have the same question in their minds - who was this have the same question from?

...

'Why are you turning this on me? You should be the one to decide. No, wait! Is this a test? Do I need to decide quickly? Or maybe I need to match your mood?'

Sui tugged her mask closer to her face as she thought of an answer to give to the princess.

Everyone looked at her with a curious and hopeful expression, and the pressure made Sui sick.

'Fuck! What do I do now?'

Sui was in a bind and needed a miracle to save her.

Somehow, that miracle happened.

"I see. It looks like my new guard is someone who cannot make a quick decision. In that case, I will give you two days to decide. How about it?"

If Sui had been surprised before, she would have been stunned now.

'What is the princess planning? She will give me two days to decide. Has she been cursed? Should I be worried and report this?'

Sui slowly calmed down once she realized the princess would not do anything to her.

"I…will think about my decision carefully, princess."

Sui quickly ended this conversation before letting the anxious Minister Xiao take over.

"P-Princess Yunjin, may I know what you are doing here? If there is anything I can help you with, then do let me know."

The minister tried his hardest not to show how anxious he felt in front of the princess, but he could not hide his emotions.

He was afraid that the princess would find fault with him and his household because of the guard from earlier.

'I will take care of the guard as soon as the princess loses interest in him. She might have given her guard two days, but I know the princess's nature well. She will not even remember the guard by tomorrow.'

The princess lives a fast-paced life without any worries or regrets. And her attention span reflected that mindset.

"By the way, princess, what brings you here?"

The minister asked in a sweet and humble voice.

"Tie him and do not kill the guard until Sui decides. If I come back and find out that this guard had died, I will your whole family line. Do you understand?"

'How did she know what I was thinking? C-Can she read our thoughts? I thought that the talent of the royal family was a myth. But if it is real-'

"Stop wasting my time. Sui, follow me. We will investigate the area in the report first. I will also have to inform my brother that the household he has appointed to look after this district is not doing its work properly."

The princess entered the estate, and her words finally registered in Minister Xiao's mind.

He instantly panicked and ran after the princess.

"Princess Yunjin, please wait for me. Please give me a chance to show you my hospitality."

The minister ran after the princess and her guard, leaving others looking at the scene.

The guard who caused this mess tried to run away while everyone else was not looking, but a single step caused him to fall back.

Sui struck the guard, and she blocked his energy point, causing him to be unable to recover.

"Hey, where do you think you are going?"

Ultimately, he was caught and cuffed before being thrown into prison.

...

"Princess Yunjin, what would you like to drink? Shall I get you tea, water, or even lime?"

It was cold outside, but Minister Xiao's face was sweaty.

The princess's cold gaze made the minister nervous, but he knew he could not escape.

"..."

The princess did not reply, leaving the minister to guess what she wanted on their own.

Sui stood at the princess's side since no servant seat was available.

The open seat was beside the princes, but only someone with equal status to the princess could sit there.

"Princess, I will-"

"Let's discuss why I am here. The Imperial Palace received reports that monsters recently broke into your territory, but there was no incentive to file for the follow-up report. Is there a reason why?"

The princess asked in a bored tone as she gestured for Sui to sit beside her.

Sui pretended not to notice that action because she did not want to commit a crime.

"A-Ah, that! We did think that a demon had broken into our territory, but it turned out to be a false alarm! Your Highness doesn't have to worry about it…may I ask what you are doing?"

The minister asked in a scared voice as he watched the princess standing up and walking toward his side of the table.
