Chapter 3: Shiro's First Encounter With The Sea

The rain didn't stop, and the tornadoes or tornadoes just kept growing bigger and stronger.

Many sea monsters that lived deep under the water also surfaced, as if all of them had gathered in that place aiming to stop the tornadoes that could kill all sea life.

"Tsk, how bothersome..." The man's lips parted as these casual words came out. Despite his casual demeanor, one wouldn't expect that he was killing sea monsters with a single slash of his sword as he continued chatting with himself. After killing an adequate number, he placed the sword back in the scabbard.

"So pathetic... you should've followed the advice of not abandoning your powers..." His calm voice traveled through the air. The man speaking stood on a single wooden piece, his sharp, piercing eyes currently gazing at the unreachable sky.

"Sigh..." Eventually, he retracted his gaze. Instinctively, he once again placed his palm on the hilt of his sword. A strange glint passed through his eyes, and with a swift movement of his palm, the sword exited the scabbard with a slashing movement, then re-entered it the next split second.

A few seconds passed with nothing seeming to happen. However, suddenly, the tornado split into two and then dissipated rapidly, as if it were nothing but a wisp of gas.

With the disappearance of all the tornadoes, the sea seemed to calm down as the sky cleared up. But an eerie silence enveloped the environment as the destroyed parts of the ships could be seen.

Destroyed would be an understatement; these ships were almost pulverized, diminished to nothing but small irregular logs of burnt wood.

As the man looked around, trying to find a trace of life, he spotted a raft that was still somehow floating, appearing undamaged.

Without hesitation, with nimble feet, the man jumped on the raft, landing on it. He then sat with a relaxed mind, as if nothing had happened here a few moments ago.

'I'm sure... now that you are dead... the power balance will change... I don't know what the north and the east Fools will do now...,' Slowly, time passed, and darkness enveloped the place. The man was completely concealed in the darkness.

The only way to recognize him was by looking at one of his eyes, which shone with a bright white light.

Winds, strong winds flew past him.

On one such continent where the winds blew the fastest and were the strongest – where lightning struck the most and where the most trees were set on fire – human life was somehow preserved. Trying to live peacefully on this continent was akin to an adventure.

To the humans on the continent, if it weren't for the so-called mercy of the gods, they would've long died.

They closed their eyes and prayed from the depths of their hearts. The man on the raft seemed to enjoy the calmness.

But amidst this silence, a cry broke out.

"Waaaa... waaaa...", a baby was born to a woman.

It was the same lady who had married the man from the west, the legend who seemed to be lost.

"T-the child...", Her eyes were blurry, and it was very hard to stay conscious. However, she forced herself to, as the wish to see the child was unkillable.

"Congratulations... a boy..." A figure present beside the mother, akin to a nanny, said as she slowly yet steadily passed the child to the mother.

The mother's lips quivered as she placed her hands on the baby. Though she wanted her grasp on the baby to be firm, she held him gently in fear of breaking him.

As she laid her eyes on the baby, he reminded her of that man. Bright eyes and ruby-like red hair just like 'him'.

"You... your name... you will be called... Shiro...", The lady said in a muffled voice, as if trying to hold her pain and sorrow.

A peaceful smile appeared on her face as she looked at the baby, straight into his eyes before passing the baby to the nanny and closing her eyes.

The baby continued crying. For some strange reason, he still hadn't calmed down. No matter what she did, the baby wouldn't quiet down.

"What's wrong with him..." She mumbled under her breath as she rocked the baby while coming out of the house. It was possible that it was suffocating inside the house.

But his crying didn't cease even now. The baby has to let out a cry for the lungs to start working, however the blood curling cry let out was unusual.

She worriedly looked at the little baby in her arms, trying to calm him down. Simultaneously, she checked if something was hurting the baby, or if he had some kind of physical problem.

At that second, a man dashed towards her while gasping.

"Kylle!", he shouted.

The nanny immediately turned around, spotting the man with silvery white hair running towards her. He was quite young.

At the right second, he controlled his body, restraining his speed, preventing a collision.

"This... he..." Surprise flashed in his eyes as he took a look at the baby.

"Yes... he is Ria's and Shawn's baby..." A smile bloomed on the nanny's face.

"Sissy's... son? I... I became an uncle! This is the happiest moment!" He said in an excited voice.

But thanks to his shout, the baby started crying even more.

"Ah, look at what you did!", she said.

"I'm sorry! Just give him to me...", He apologized as he stretched his arms forward. But judging from her expression, it was clear that she wouldn't allow him to touch the baby.

"No, you are an idiot! You will drop him and make him cry even more!", she refused as she tried to walk away. But being a stubborn man, Eric continued to follow her until she finally gave up and handed him the baby after making him take many vows of not hurting the baby.

"What's the baby's name?", he asked.

She smiled and said, "Shiro... that's what Ria named him."

"Aww... Shiro... how are you? Do you recognize your uncle?"

Recognize you?

He probably can't even recognize his mother. For God's sake, he was just born. Do you think he met you in his past life and remembers you? The nanny thought inwardly as she looked at Eric intensely.

Waaaaa!

The crying sound of the baby just intensified.

"See!? I told you! Just give him back!" She demanded; however, Eric ignored her.

"Wait old hag, give me some time."

'I'll pretend I didn't hear that...'

"Give the baby to me!"

The next second, Eric dashed towards the seashore while exclaiming "No!"

"Don't run! Be careful! You will drop him!", she shouted, but because of the excitement, he could hardly hear what she said.

He ran as fast as he could and was now far enough from Kylle. As he continued walking, his mind ran at a high speed, pondering on how to calm this small little offspring of his sister.

However, this was when he realized that the baby wasn't crying anymore. The environment once again had become calm and tranquil.

Shiro had already calmed down and was looking quite keenly at something.

"Huh! This..." Though not sure what calmed Shiro down, he followed the little brat's keen gaze, tracing it back to the shore.

The man too looked towards the sea and the broad horizon, and then stared back at Shiro. "You... you want to go there? Do you want to rule the seas...?"

Suddenly, excitement bloomed in Eric, erupting from the depths of his heart. He then sat down and copied his nephew's action, looking at the sea calmly.

Shiro's first encounter with the sea. Though it was only visual, Shiro could see something that others couldn't. He could feel something that others couldn't. This was the beginning of a great adventure.
