After the intense battle, the dwarf guards stationed along the wall realized that there was no way to stop the looming being. With determination, they began the wall defense protocol, preparing for the worst. Lyria, desperate to stop them and aware that Alex was outside the city, futilely tried to prevent them from activating the protocol.
Meanwhile, from atop the walls, lava began to spew forth, flowing and covering the defenses to prevent anything from entering or leaving without being consumed by fire. Lyria, seeing this desperate measure, shouted to Alex to hurry and come. She ran towards the wall, while the demon realized what was about to happen and lunged at him to stop him and prevent him from escaping the city.
Amidst the chaos, Lyria pulled out a crossbow hidden in her sleeve and began to shoot at the demon, but her attacks proved futile. With determination, she infused her crossbow with magic, managing to temporarily halt the demon, but he was not willing to let her escape so easily. He threw one of the fallen dwarfs' weapons, injuring Alex's foot and forcing him to momentarily stop.
With every fiber of his being burning with released energy, Alex sacrificed part of his life to reach and cross the wall gate, forcing himself to overcome the pain and fatigue. Finally, he managed to reach the gate and cross it just as the lava began to completely cover the walls.
From afar, the demon watched as the lava cascaded down the wall, uttering Alex's name with a tone of challenge. "This is just a delay of the inevitable," he whispered, announcing that the real battle was yet to come, a battle that would decide the fate of everyone residing in Forjgris.
