Chereads / Reborn As A Freakin' Zombie (Hiatus) / Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Healing My Small Companion

Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Healing My Small Companion

I stand at the entrance of the town. Broken buildings in the background and displaying a terrifying atmosphere of the place. Grayish clouds, looming above me with only a small portion of the sun light making it through. Roads are littered with trashes. Blood are sprayed at the open road like thrown water. Some are dried and some are still fresh.

I stare ahead to the valley of the dead. Numerous zombies walking in random direction. Their mouths are hang open, eyes wondering in the surrounding. Each zombies had unique looks on themselves. I see ones who looks like they are freshly turned. Their skins still has little life in them and there are still no visible signs of rotting. I saw some that has barely any skin in them. Their bodies are so thin, I could mistake them for walking skeletons. Their flesh are barely hanging on at their bodies and I could feel their extreme desire for flesh. I look at the a few corners of the place and saw ones that has visible damages on their body. The reasons are extremely vary on each one. I noticed some that has missing limbs, torn flesh, and missing even half of their bodies. Like the one I just saw in the ground. This thing has no arms and legs. It only has a torso and a head. I could see some part of it that has large bite marks and deep scratches....it must have been eaten by a horde before it turned into one of them.

The machete in my hand was held tightly. I could barely contain myself of this excitement.

So many zombies, so many delicious meals...ripe for the taking but alas, I have to get those ices first. I made my way to the nearby house. I tried my best to be quiet.

I know that zombies are weak compared to me now. I could kill one easily like a defenseless puppy. My strength has risen a few times when I ate the monster in the bloody hallway but I still need to be careful. Despite my strength, I just can't go all gun blazing like a suicidal cowboy. Those things only works on movies.

Besides, I may encounter another one of those monsters in here. Better be safe first.

I encountered a lone zombie at one of the houses in the town. I slowly went near it and pierced it's head with my knife. It never got to screech as I slowly lay it to the ground. I checked my surrounding and concluded that none of its companions had noticed my action. Though there are some that's really nearby. I can't eat the body in here. Damn...

I shook my head and forced myself to focus at the task at hand. I went to the door and slowly opened it. Once I was inside, a singular zombie tried to tackle me but I quickly pierced its head. The tip of my knife went through the back of its skull. I checked my surrounding again and saw that the cost is clear.

I severed the head from its body and rapidly ate it. I look at my right arm and saw that a small portion of my hand is starting to show. I finally have my palm back though it still has no fingers but progress is progress. Besides, I didn't eat the rest yet.

I look at the headless body of the zombie. I couldn't help but lick my rotten lips. It know it's gross but I don't care. Bottoms up...

After I ate the entice body, I'm now fully recovered. I clinched my complete right hand and savor the moment. Plus I got a little strength boost which is a nice bonus.

I went the nearby fridge and opened it...I quickly closed it...

I don't wanna think about it. The things that's inside the fridge made me sick. That poor child...

Knowing that this place is empty, I went out of the house and continued my search with the next one. A few moments later, I came out feeling a little frustrated. The house is fortunately devoid of zombies but I still didn't find any ices...haah. The things I do for that dog.

Whatever, maybe the next one will finally get me what I want. I look at the closest nearby and couldn't stop my surprise from showing. It was a gigantic mansion that's over 45 feet in height. The design is clearly inspired by the ancient British castle. It was built with tough concrete and cement. The windows are like those of the Christian churches and at its front is a massive UK metal gate. My surprise is not due to the mansion though, it's what is currently occupying it.

At the front gate are a huge number of crawlers circling the place. It looks like their marking it as their territory. Up ahead are the new ones that I didn't encounter before. From what I observed, they are quite bulky. Their skins are a combination of gray and green, their body is composed of packed muscles and their backs has three black horns. Their faces are deformed. The parts of their faces are all jumbled up and some has missing ones on their faces. A few of them for example has eyes that are not aligned, some only has a mouth on their face, and some are even mixed with animals in various proportions like the one that has the side of its face that belongs to a monkey. In short, all of them are a bunch of ugly bitches.

Those are the faces even their mother couldn't love. I probably shouldn't judge harshly considering I'm ugly as well. Anyway, I am so not going in that mansion... yet. I'm outnumbered, only have a few weapons, and practically not strong enough. I didn't even start training once I got here. Those monsters just attack out of nowhere. I didn't even know how I survived this long. It's like I'm inside a game that has no tutorial whatsoever and just quickly made me fight directly to one of its bosses.

I let out a silent sigh and just went away from it. My time was spent entering numerous houses, killing a few zombies, and ate a few said zombies. I could feel myself getting stronger again and I suddenly discovered another perk it gave me when I continuously ate those walking Undead. My body is slowly loosing some of the rot. My once pale dead skin is slowly turning grayish brown. Another one that almost made me bounce in joy is that the boost made me evolve.

A few minutes earlier I just finished my latest meal when I suddenly felt nauseous. I tried to held it in but ultimately couldn't contain it. I opened my mouth and let out a black vomit that hit the nearby wall. I saw the wall melting in a rapid pace until its nothing but black goo.

Hmm. An acidic vomit... Interesting. I tried to do it again and this time, I did it like I was just exhaling some air. I didn't feel sick and forced. It came like it's just natural to me. I opened my mouth and let out a spray of acidic black liquid and the nearby furniture and walls are quickly melted.

I let out a laugh. I'm sorry, I just got so excited. Too excited to know that some zombies nearby noticed the destruction I made.

"Raaargh!"

"Raargh!"

The noises brought me back to reality and noticed that there's now a small group of zombies heading my way.

Good. Looks like I just got myself some test subjects. Their walk is slow as heck so I have more than enough time to ready my attack. I inhaled a large amount of air and let out my attack like a dragon.

They didn't stand a chance.

The moment my black vomit hit their targets, the zombies quickly melted like candles. All that's left of them now are a small puddle of black liquid.

A few moments later, I feel myself losing a good chunk of my strength. It took me by surprise that I almost fell down. Haaah. I should learn more about this thing. Good thing there's no more zombies nearby or fighting them while in this weakened state would be quite a hassle.

I took a few moments of rest and continued my search. After a few hours of nonstop searching and fighting off those flesh eaters, I finally found it. A handful of ice inside a still functioning fridge. I took out the ice pack container and made decide to finally go back.

I quietly made my way out of the small town. Careful enough to not make the ones in the mansion notice his presence. Once I'm at the entrance of the town again, I let out a small sigh of relief. I continued my walk a moment later on.

I'm not at the front door of the trailer and let myself through. Whity noticed me and let out a small bark. Alright.

I took out the ice pack and slowly put it on the side of Whity's injured leg. He winced at the small pain but didn't complain. Once, it's done I made my way to the nearby chair and sat down.

Now, what would I do next?
