The airport we arrived at was enormous, with several taxis and cars stopping in front, people coming and going, and planes landing and taking off in the distance.
We took a taxi there, and I carried both mine and my mother's suitcases while my father carried his own. In reality, our luggage didn't contain much—my parents were aware of my inventory ability, so the suitcases were mostly for show, just a disguise for our actual belongings.
My father held my mother's right hand, and I held her left. This was my first time at an airport in both of my lives, so I was a bit curious, even though I had already witnessed far more unusual things thanks to the system.
"Adrian, stay close to us. I know it's unlikely that anyone could kidnap you given your strength and abilities, but you could still get lost… It's better to be careful," my mother reminded me again. I simply nodded. With my Observation Haki and enhanced senses, it was highly unlikely that I would get lost—not to mention the bees.
After arriving at the airport, we checked in and went through baggage inspection.
While we waited for my aunt to arrive, I wandered off to a small store nearby to buy some candy. I left one of my bees with my parents so we could communicate, ensuring I wouldn't lose track of them. Meanwhile, they stayed behind, wrapped up in their little romantic moment.
Inside the store, a cashier greeted me with a warm smile.
"Hello, young man! What would you like to buy?"
I returned her smile, putting on an innocent, charming expression, and pointed at the sweets. Some were shaped like bananas, others had an orange flavor like gummy bears, and some were jelly beans with a variety of flavors.
She smiled as she packed them into small recyclable paper bags with the Monka Factory logo—a world-famous brand for chocolates and sweets. (Who caught the reference?)
However, as I left the store, two men approached me.
"Hey there, kid! Did you buy some candy? Would you like us to give you even more?"
"Yeah, we've got plenty of delicious sweets," the other one added with a grin.
I glanced at them briefly, scanning them with my Haki. I didn't sense any unusual energy, like the kind I felt from my mother, which meant they were most likely just regular humans. Judging by the cliché, this was probably a clumsy kidnapping attempt...
So, I smiled at them.
"Of course! Where are the sweets?"
As I played along, I subtly slipped my hand into my pocket and sent a message to my father, informing him of the situation. He would probably send security soon… Still, I chose to follow them. Ignoring them would only mean another child could end up being kidnapped.
At the same time, a notification popped up in my mind.
...
Mission: Kidnappers at the Airport
Objective: Ensure the kidnappers are arrested.
Reward: 60 system coins, Class E Skill (Hunter World) – Mimetic Voice.
Description: You're at an airport, and kidnappers want to take you. What will you do about it? Stop them?
....
I paused for five seconds before hearing one of the men call me.
"Hey, kid?"
"Nothing, I just got distracted," I replied casually.
I smiled at them and kept walking. I hadn't expected a mission, but the skill reward would be useful for future disguises. It seemed to be even more advanced than Tunisia's voice-mimicking techniques.
They led me out of the airport to a more isolated area in front of a van. They weren't even trying to hide the fact that this was an obvious kidnapping.
"Where's the candy, uncles?" I asked innocently.
"Cough, cough. It's inside the van," one of them said, while the other opened the door.
I stepped forward slightly and saw a third man sitting inside, ready to drive.
"I don't see any candy, uncle," I said with a naive smile.
"Don't worry—"
Before he could finish his sentence, I cut him off with a direct question.
"Is this a kidnapping?"
They froze for a second. One of them looked like he was about to come up with an excuse, but the other cut him off.
"Forget it. Yes, brat, it's a kidnapping. Now shut up, or we'll cut out your tongue."
He pulled out a knife, waving it threateningly.
By then, I had already activated a recorder to send to my father. Smiling, I discreetly stopped the recording with a tap of my finger inside my pocket. At the same time, I stuffed my candy into my backpack to keep it safe.
And then, I grinned.
"Thanks for saying that so clearly."
"Wha—?"
Before the knife-wielding guy could react, I burst forward at high speed, leaping up and kicking him hard in the forehead and chest. He crashed against the van door, instantly knocked out.
The second man, frozen in fear, didn't have time to react. I jumped toward him and delivered four rapid punches to his face and forehead. With my superior strength and quick strikes, he stumbled back, some of his teeth flying out in the process.
"You little—!"
He bit his tongue and attempted to stand, but I moved my left leg in a circular motion, delivering a precise kick to his face. He collapsed immediately.
The third man—the driver—looked terrified, unsure whether to start the engine or flee out the back.
But before he could decide, I had already sent the recorded message.
Seconds later, the van doors were yanked open. The driver was forcefully dragged out by two police officers, while I was pulled into my father's arms in a tight embrace.
"Son!"
