Bel rolled onto her side, staring at the wooden ceiling of her bed. She couldn't sleep. Shutting her eyes didn't help, and blanking her thoughts did nothing. Maybe it was because she hadn't exhausted herself enough. She pushed herself to a sitting position and brushed her hair out of her eyes. There was no way Davien's absence was affecting her sleep.
She had ridden Brian to the village and back; she had also used magic. She should be tired enough to fall asleep as soon as her body touched the bed but it was more than halfway through the night, and she was still wide awake.
