"Oh," he said with a sad look that Bel wasn't buying. "It wasn't my intention to spoil your meal."
"I highly doubt that."
"You really think the worst of me," he said, standing up and walking toward her.
"Do you really want to talk about this again?" she asked, eyeballing him.
"No," he said, standing in front of her.
Bel moved her rear backward as she sat, not liking that his shin touched her knees. "What?" she asked when he didn't move. He leaned forward but didn't say a word. "Would you stop that? It's creepy."
"My bad," he grinned and walked away, dropping down next to her.
Bel moved to the edge of the couch, even though there was more than enough space between them. "Now what?" she asked.
"You always ask that. Do we need to do anything?" he asked as he looked at her from the corner of his eyes. "Can't we sit and enjoy each other's company?"
Bel snorted. "You misunderstand the terms of our agreement."
