Davien frowned. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't play dumb," Bel snapped, her voice tinged with frustration. "You said as long as I act as a proper wife, but I know what you really mean. You expect me to—"
"Stop," Davien interrupted, his tone serious. He leaned forward, locking eyes with her. "You're misunderstanding me. I don't expect you to do anything intimate with me if that's what you're implying."
Bel blinked, caught off guard by his sudden change in demeanor. "Then what do you mean?" she asked cautiously.
"Surely, you don't think that's the only way to be a proper wife?" he mocked.
"Knowing you, your thoughts are never far from such things."
