Bel tried not to show she was in pain, but she had hit the carriage door harder than her hand could take, and it hurt. The pain spread from the heel of her palm past her wrist. She jumped down and twirled her wrist, trying to ease the pain, while Davien took a step back to give her space.
The place they had stopped in caught her attention. It was hard to say exactly where they were, but the area was huge. She couldn't clearly see the ceiling. She could hear trickling in the distance, but it was hard to tell if it was water dripping from the ceiling or a nearby river. The fact that Davien had mentioned she could wash up here likely meant it was some kind of underground river.
She could smell the fire, but more than that, she could smell something else, it smelled nice, like meat. She looked around, taking a step forward as she headed towards the fire. With the light orb brightening up the space, things were less obscure now.
