Bel walked into the room. Her father has finally summoned her after what felt like forever. The first thing she noticed was the way he sat on the couch, his knees together and his head in his palms.
He adjusted as he heard her come in, leaning back against the seat and spreading out his arm. "Bel," he called to her.
"Father," she called back, looking around. She wasn't sure what she was looking for but it was pretty clear things weren't going well. "Did something happen?"
"No," he lied. She could tell it was a lie.
"How did the meeting go?" She asked as she took a seat opposite him. "You all were in there for a very long time."
"It went well enough. That's unimportant. What did you want to see me about?"
Bel didn't miss the way he quickly changed the subject. As curious as she was, she couldn't push and she didn't want to piss him off that she would decline her requests.
