Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

Chapter 28

After tightly embracing the diary, Marlie proceeded to cautiously open it and found the first page boldly proclaiming:::

{"Today, I am overcome with joy as I have married the man of my dreams. I am confident that this union will bring me everlasting happiness alongside Chad.

Marlie, dear little sis, I will prove you wrong about Chad. My love for him knows no bounds and I know he loves me too."}

Disgruntled by these words, Marlie angrily shut the diary, exclaiming in frustration...

"Oh, so you claimed to be happy, didn't you? Sure, I bet you were thrilled!"

Her frustration was palpable. Charlie had wanted to prove her doubts about Chad's affection for her wrong. Well, maybe, that was the beginning of their marriage and Charlie had high expectations.

Curiosity got the best of Marlie, compelling her to move forward and uncover whether Charlie succeeded in her mission. She turned to the next page, which revealed:::

{"On our wedding night, I found myself all alone but I wasn't angry nor did I feel offended. My dedicated and kind-hearted husband was occupied with work. Chad is truly diligent in whatever he does. Sending you my best wishes, my love."}

In a fit of rage, Marlie forcefully closed the diary again and flung it against the wall. How dare she write something like that? Was she blind or just stupid?

"Diligent worker? Well, yeah... Diligent work my ass!!!" She seethed in rage, scoffing in disbelief at Charlie's innocence.

Closing her eyes, the conversation between Audrey and Angelina downstairs flooded her mind.

"He claimed to be going to work, but was instead meeting his mistress? Chad, you shameless bastard!"

Unable to contain her anger, Marlie paced frantically around the room. She wanted so badly to destroy this family once and for all.

She was consumed by thoughts of revenge, determined to wipe the smug smiles off Angelina's face.

Anxiety overwhelmed her and she resorted to biting her fingertips but she was abruptly interrupted by a servant summoning her for dinner. She responded curtly and the servant left.

Upon reaching the dining room, She realized both Angelina and Audrey were nowhere to be found, and even Silvia had left.

Marlie skeptically pulled out her chair and sat down. Addressing one of the attentive servants, she inquired,

"Where are they? Why is no one here?"

Her question remained unanswered until Vien stepped in and provided an explanation,

"Audrey and Angelina are currently shopping for the anticipated night out, while Madam Silvia has ventured out to meet her friends. As for Chad, I believe he has headed to the office"

Marlie smiled kindly at Vien in response.

It appeared that everyone had their own busy lives, prompting her to mentally plan her busyness.

"I also have to get busy!"

"Busy doing what?" Vien questioned, perplexed.

"Putting a stop to their night out!" Marlie firmly stated.

Doubt filled Vien's face as she questioned Marlie's plan, "And how do you plan on accomplishing that? Chad will unlikely pay any attention to you or change his mind on the matter." Vien said boldly.

Chad does as he pleases, and no one dares to challenge him. And those who dared to do so are at their peril.

Marlie paused, a wicked smirk playing across her face as she spoke, "Charlie believed that Chad had gone out for serious work on their wedding night," she mused, scoffing contemptuously,

"And today, that shameless homewrecker dared to admit their plans right to my face." With determination in her eyes, Marlie rose from her seat and stood by the window, ready to set her revenge in motion.

"Do you think I will sit back and watch her enjoy?!"

Marlie asked Vien as she sensed the sound of a car entering the mansion.

Standing next to the curtains, she gently adjusted it to gaze outside the house and spotted Audrey and Angelina back from their shopping.

Marlie thought to herself out loud, " I will give you the humiliation you gave my sister, so for now witch, plan well."

Curious about Marlie's intentions, Vien inquired, having no better alternative, "What do you plan to do now? Are you going to use your health issue as an excuse to prevent him from going out?"

"No! I will do no such a thing. I will just let them play, that's all." Marlie replied to Vien, her eyes still looking outside.

"Are you going to let Chad see Angelina?" Madam Vien expressed surprise at Marlie's statement, as Angelina was not only a homewrecker but also responsible for Charlie's misery somehow.

"Yes, that is my decision! Don't bother questioning me, old woman, your inquiries are irritating," Marlie retorted harshly. She went back to her seat and focused on her breakfast.

She didn't leave her after breakfast until she realized those two witches had disappeared from the mansion

In Chad's office

During the late afternoon... Chad settled into his revolving chair, having completed his meetings for the day.

He leaned back and closed his eyes. When he heard someone entering his office he thought it was his assistant so he called out...

"David..."

He paused seeing it was Angelina instead.

Angelina entered the office and walked straight toward Chad. Looking at his frowned face she knew he was tired. She swirled the chair and placed her hand on his shoulders. Sensually massaging him, she reminds him of their plans for the evening.

"I remember, and I'll be there on time," Chad replied, still in the chair.

Angelina swiveled the chair towards her and seductively sat on Chad's lap, wrapping her hands around his neck and leaning in to kiss his cheek.

Chad held her arms, quietly requesting her to let go. Uncomfortable with their position, he whispered, "Angelina please..."

However, Angelina clung tightly and whispered into his ear, "Cristal Lounge, I've made the reservation, same time as last time. Don't be late."

Chad gave her a quick nod, reassuring her that he would be there. At that moment, Chad's assistant, David, barged in.

This wasn't the first time he had witnessed their closeness. He wished to look at Angelina in disgust but he wouldn't risk his job. He just hated that whore woman.

Angelina finally got up and left, but not before sending Chad flying kisses. She was so shameless with her actions.

David looked like he wanted to vomit at the sight of her. He kept his gaze fixed on Angelina's back till she was out of sight, making him let out a satisfied low breath.

Sighing with relief, Chad turned to David and inquired about his schedule,

"What's on my agenda today?" He asked curtly and David updated him.

"Sir you are done for the day. The rest of the meetings have been scheduled for tomorrow"

Chad got up from his chair and grabbed his coat.

"What about what I asked you to order?"

"It will arrive in the evening, Sir"

David answered.

"Send it to my house when it arrives," Chad said, putting on his coat and leaving the office, with David following to accompany him to the company's main gate.

Back at the house

Upon returning to the residence...

Marlie, exhausted from spending the entire day in bed, suddenly realized that it was already 5 pm and that the staff would soon commence their dinner preparations.

In order to pass the time and alleviate her boredom, she made the decision to explore and observe their activities. The servants were engrossed in their respective tasks, prompting her to venture from one area to another, filled with curiosity about their creations.

"Nanny..."

Audrey's voice echoed through the room. She entered the bustling kitchen and noticed Marlie's presence. Revealing a look of disdain towards Marlie, Audrey proceeded to speak,

"Angelina will be joining us for dinner tonight..."

accompanied by a wicked smirk aimed directly at Marlie, she continued," Afterward, she will be going out with my brother."

Vien displayed a troubled expression as she hummed in response, fixing her gaze on Marlie.

Marlie simply stood there, observing Audrey with an expressionless face, until Audrey finished speaking and disappeared from her sight without uttering a word.

Vien awaited Marlie's outburst of anger, yet Marlie remained composed and continued her exploration of the kitchen. It seemed as if she did not care. However, there is a time for everything.

For the past two hours, Marlie had lingered in the kitchen, observing and occasionally getting in the way.

Having been raised in privilege, this was not the first time she had witnessed such a scene. Nevertheless, unlike Chad's family where the staff handled the food preparations, in her household, her mother took charge of such tasks.

Marlie broke the silence by inquiring, "When will Chad return from the office?"

Vien remained silent, but Marlie's persisted, annoying her.

Vien griped Marlie by the arm and walked her towards the kitchen gate. Marlie had become bothersome with her interference, bombarding them with unnecessary questions and even picking the food to eat.

Vien sarcastically suggested to Marlie, "Why don't you call your husband if you're so eager to see him?"

"Did you miss me that much?" Chad suddenly teased, overhearing their conversation making the two women stunned.

Observing the smirk on Chad's face, Marlie rolled her eyes. Miss him? Not in a million years. The mere thought of Chad's words annoyed Marlie.

In a state of annoyance, she proceeded towards the bedroom, leading in front of Chad. However, she happened to spot Angelina on her way, walking into the mansion.

It turned out that Audrey's statement about Angelina coming for dinner was indeed true. Marlie descended the stairs and crossed her arms, fixing her gaze upon Angelina in her revealing short dress that exposed most of her back.

Naturally, Marlie felt repulsed by this attire, as it was clearly meant to tempt Chad. Upon seeing such a choice of dress from Angelina, Chad was also taken aback.

He understood Angelina's intention all too well - she aimed to taunt and incite jealousy in Marlie. Chad even ventured to exchange a concerned glance with Marlie, only to be met with a surge of anger and disgust.

Puzzled, Chad scrunched his eyebrows, wondering why he was suddenly subjected to such animosity. He felt the need to clarify something to Marlie for the first time. Yet, something held him back.

"Hold on, I did not ask her to wear that dress, nor did I invite her here! What fault do I bear in this?" Chad questioned himself inwardly. However, his attention had to shift towards Angelina when she called out to him, somewhat derogatorily, "Hi, darling."

Marlie shot a fierce glare in Angelina's direction. "So, you want to play games, huh? Well, I am more than willing to welcome you!" Marlie muttered to herself.

Angelina approached Chad with the intention of hugging him, solely to provoke Marlie. However, Marlie refused to allow it and positioned herself between Chad and Angelina. Chad emitted a gentle chuckle upon witnessing Marlie's actions. It was the first time he had seen Charlie (Marlie) display such protectiveness towards him. Normally, Charlie would simply walk away, but this time was different. Even he was taken aback.

Standing there, Angelina wore an expression of anger, but Marlie remained indifferent.

"Welcome... BITCH!" Marlie greeted Angelina with a fake smile. This shocked Chad to the core. He couldn't believe what he just heard and stared at Marlie in disbelief.

What did she say again?
