Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Back to the mansion.

Marlie was done wearing her bones and wanted to stretch. She left the kitchen and met Audrey at the main door. And hurried to block her way to annoy her with her words.

"When did you come, sister-in-law? Do you want me to serve you food since you didn't have anything for breakfast?" Marlie asked acting like a good girl.

"Listen bitch, take your trashy self out of my way!" Audrey retaliated. She had a long day and needed to rest.

"I just wanted to find out how you are that's all..."

Marlie continues putting on the good girl attitude.

"And if I'm not, what will you do fool?" Audrey taunted {Charlie} Marlie.

"I know you are in a bad mood because of yesterday but was it my fault that your boyfriend left you?" Marlie said provocatively.

Audrey harshly grabbed Marlie by the arm, digging her nail into her body which pained Marlie and she let out a cry.

"Listen, you silly woman don't you dare get in my way again or I won't spare you!" She finished and threw Marlie on the floor.

Marlie sobbed out loud as Audrey passed by her to her room.

When she had left, Marlie majestically got up from the floor, coldly wiping off the fake tears. She gave out a devilish smirk and comfortably sat on the sofa.

"It's Show Time!" Marlie said to herself triumphantly.

Audrey reached her door and held the doorknob to open her room but was stopped by a call from someone. She reached out her phone and picked up the call, distracting her from what her hand was doing.

"Hello, girlfriend..." She said as she opened the door.

But something in front of her terrified her to shout

"Ahhhhhhhh.....S.....snake, snake!!."

All the servants rushed upstairs to check. How was that possible for a snake to come to the house? A snake in a residential area? Impossible!

Marlie followed suit and rushed upstairs to check. When she reached there, Audrey was crawling on the floor shaking vehemently. She was so scared and refused to look at the snake again as she pointed in its direction when asked where it was.

Indeed there was a snake there. Hanging by the doorway was a snake dangling nicely.

It caused all the servants including Marlie to shout and leap back.

No one was willing to get close to it, so Marlie ordered someone to rush for a stick to kill the snake but no one would dare. None of them dared to kill that snake. Who in their correct mind would seek death?

Audrey was still trembling. There was no one to help unless a brave man.

"l have to call Chad!" Marlie said running to pick up her handphone downstairs.

"Don't worry Audrey, I'm calling for help...!!!" Marlie shouted, behaving like a shivering person, at the button of the stairs.

"Hahahahaha..!!!" She burst out laughing when she realized no one around.

Does she have to do that? She hung the fake snake there to scare Audrey. The nerve of her to insult her sister. "How do you like it, Audrey? This is just foreplay."

But she had to play along with that. She needs to call Chad to come home. He must come.

"I want to see your damned face with anger towards your sister." Marlie cheered inwardly. Turning the family against each other was the first on her list.

When Marlie got to the living room after the call, Audrey had been led by Vien to sit on the sofa.

How terrible she looked. Marlie smirked looking at the trembling Audrey before approaching her.

She had to show her concern even if it was fake. Because she couldn't afford to let Chad accuse her of that.

"Audrey, are you okay? Don't worry, Chad is on his way home." When Marlie said and placed a hand on Audrey's hand.

Truthfully, if it had been the normal Audrey, she would have pushed Marlie far from herself but she was shivering so much so that she couldn't even realize Marlie was holding her by the arm trying to calm her down.

Minutes after, Chad and his friends reached the house. Silvia too arrived in her car in a panic. The servants had notified her, and they all rushed inside the house in a hurry.

"Audrey, Audrey dear what happened to you!"

Silvia rushed to her daughter's side trying to find out if she was hurt as soon as she entered the house.

Audrey ran to embrace her mother for comfort as she cried uncontrollably. That snake terrified her to the core.

"Are you alright?"

Chad asked worriedly before asking where the snake was to which Marlie helpfully showed iitslocation pointing her finger towards upstairs.

Chad and Spark, after the latter gave a quick glance at Marlie, ran upstairs to find the supposed snake and kill it. Meanwhile, Marlie stands aside enjoying the scenes.

When Chad and Spark reached there, of course, they were shocked.

A TOY SNAKE?!

Chad couldn't contain his anger at the unbelievable sight of the supposedly terrifying snake.

Spark lifted the toy snake and descended the stairs with Chad going before him. The very moment they descended, everyone including Gideon and Ken leaped back. That toy snake sure looked real.

"Is this the snake you are talking about Audrey?" Chad inquired astonished at her sister's stupidity. She was terrified because of a toy snake?

Spark threw the toy snake in front of all of them.

Chad angrily questioned as he looked at the faces of all the servants, Charlie and Audrey.

"You called me here for this?" Well according to Marlie, Chad's face was priceless. She had never seen so much anger in his eyes before that she wished not to face that face of his ever.

"Audrey, are you that stupid?" Chad asked furiously.

Marlie giggled at Chad's voice. She couldn't help herself. And the face of Audrey was soothing Marlie's inner beings. This was exactly what she wanted to see.

Audrey couldn't believe she just shivered at the sight of a toy snake. At that point, she was shaking her head in disbelief.

"No, it's not possible. I saw the snake and it was really....." She defended herself

"Real? You call this real?" He was flabbergasted. It made him more annoyed when Audrey affirmed boldly.

"Is this a real snake to you?! Audrey, are you that dumb to take a toy snake for a real one?" He continued.

Audrey looked at his brother in anger. How could she have known whether that snake looked real or fake?

Chad was fuming with anger thinking about leaving all he had to do in the office just for a toy snake, so much so that he was pacing up and down in disbelief.

"How was I supposed to know it was just a toy?"

Audrey said in tears. She couldn't believe what just happened to her because of a toy snake.

"Couldn't you have checked?" You act highly and mighty but shiver at the sight of a toy? What's the use of that brain of yours?" Chad spat out in anger.

Silvia couldn't take the insult on her daughter and defended her, "Be careful of your words, she is your sister!"

As the chattering was going on between th family, Spark approached Marlie, thinking it was Charlie because of her appearance.

"Charlie?" Spark whispered to Marlie.

In the midst of the chaos, he wanted to flirt with Charlie (Marlie) knowing too well, that Charlie didn't like him close to her.

Marlie turned and recognized him... "Spark? Hey, how have you been?" She also whispered to him passing him a faint smile.

That was odd to Spark since Charlie would have left the moment she spotted him.

He thought to himself, "What's wrong with Charlie? It's been just a little more than a year since I saw her. And the last time we met, she told me never to approach her again, what is going on with her?"

"It's been years since I saw you," Marlie said, forgetting that, she was pretending to be her sister. She was so immersed in the drama unfolding between Chad and his family.

Spark was confused even more. What did she mean by 'it's been years'?

But his thoughts were broken when Audrey shouted out loud,

"Who did this?"

Marlie giggled again and that drew Spark's attention to her. Looking at the direction of Marlie's gaze, Spark became more confused as to why Charlie (Marlie) would laugh at the situation.

It wasn't a funny situation to watch. Seriously he was furious when he realized they worriedly rushed to the house because of a toy snake.

Or maybe... Marlie exaggerated with her words on the phone.

And to top it all, Marlie happily smirked at Audrey to the notice of Spark.

This was strange to Spark.
