Chapter 5 - Darzax's Status

Aleron and Darzax arrived at the Adventurer Guild branch in this area and entered.

"New faces, eh?"

"That middle-aged man is so handsome."

The other adventurers present in the hall commented as Aleron and Darzax walked toward one of the receptionist booths.

"We would like to register as adventurers," Aleron said with a smile.

The black-haired receptionist was looking at both of them when they were walking, so she immediately nodded with a smile, "Understood. Please wait for a bit. I'll call a staff member who will lead you to the registration room."

"Are you two new to the kingdom?" she asked curiously.

"Yes," Aleron nodded with a smile.

She looked at Darzax, but he just bowed his head slightly with a faint smile, "I'm just a mere servant of my lord here. Please don't mind me."

'Eh?' Aleron internally wryly smiled. He was about to tell her he was from a village and arrived in this big city with his uncle to become an adventurer, but Darzax ruined this backstory.

"Servant?" the receptionist was surprised, looking at shifting her look from Aleron and Darzax as if finding it hard to believe.

"Hey, Lizz, what's up?"

A young man in his late teens arrived wearing casual brown trousers and a white shirt.

"Take these two for registration, please."

Aleron and Darzax started following the guy through a corridor.

"You can call me Odar. So how confident are you, my friend?" Odar said as he grinned at Aleron.

"Confident for what?" Aleron tilted his head in confusion.

"I mean your status. You got any innate talent or something?" Odar asked with a wry smile.

"Oh…Hmm, I'm not sure," Aleron shook his head.

"This big guy here seems like he wasn't a farmer or driver before. Ex-adventurer?" Odar asked with a laugh as he looked at Darzax.

Aleron internally sweated. 'Dude, he is a fucking Death God.'

"Hmm, you can say that," Darzax chuckled and nodded. "I am a former adventurer, rejoining again with my lord."

"Your lord?!" Odar was dumbfounded and looked at Aleron as he started becoming nervous. "A-Are you a noble?"

"Relax, haha. I am a nobody. Just treat me as a newbie adventurer," Aleron couldn't help but laugh upon seeing Odar's reaction. 'I guess nobles throwing their weight around is more common than not.'

Odar wryly smiled and stopped walking before turning left at the door. "Alright. Let's enter and get you registered."

As they entered a moderately big room, Aleron noted a magical two-meter tall and wide faint blue crystal wall standing in the middle.

"Put your hand on it. It will measure you and show your status, which I will use to create your adventurer card. The higher your rank, the more benefits you will get from all branches of Adventurer Guild."

Aleron nodded and put his hand on the crystal wall.

It faintly glowed before golden symbols appeared that soon transformed into letters and numbers.

"Ouch," Odar cried out and patted Aleron's shoulder. "Don't worry, friend. People can also awaken talents even if they don't have inborn ones."

Aleron smiled and nodded before pointing at his Lifeform rank, "What is that Lifeform rank? Why is there 13% on it?"

"When you kill living beings, you absorb their life essence and make progress in your lifeform. But you have to increase your stats to the peak of Mortal rank before your lifeform ranks up."

"How to increase my stats?" Aleron curiously asked.

"Well, you gotta work hard for it. You have to train, eat particular resources, and fight for things you want for your progress," Odar said before he doubtfully looked at Aleron's Health stat, "This Health stat is high because you ate a D-rank Mystic Food or Stat Potion or something that increased it, no?"

'My lord. The food you ate increased your Health. I had ordered the chef to make that type of food using D-rank magic ingredients to make you healthy.'

Aleron heard Darzax's voice in his head as he understood.

"Ah yeah, I remember I ate D-rank Mystic Food at the palace," Aleron nodded with a grin at Odar.

"Yep, that explains it," Odar laughed.

'Palace? This guy is definitely a noble. And he indeed seems to be a good one,' Odar thought while internally grinning. 'I should help him out since he is new here, and get on his good side.'

"Alright, your turn," Odar said as he looked at Darzax.

Darzax walked forward and put his right hand on the wall.

'Darzax's stats…he must be crazily powerful, right?' Aleron thought, his eyes sparkling with eagerness.

The blue screen showed strange symbols before they soon transformed into letters, numbers, and…question marks.

"WHAT THE FUCK?!" Odar shouted and jumped in shock.

Even Aleron was dumbfounded.

Odar tremblingly looked at Darzax, sweating bullets even. "Y-Y-Y-You are Exceed….

Darzax raised his eyebrows at Odar. "That I seem to be. Any problem?"

"N-No, no! Of course not," Odar said while forcing a smile. "I-I mean, if you are here to destroy this city or something, can you wait a bit, please? I want to escape."

"Odar," Aleron walked forward and patted Odar's shoulder with a smile. "Relax."

"My lord!" Odar jumped back and knelt on the ground before Aleron. 'This guy is the Exceed guy's lord?! Are they from the Longinus Empire or the Nightwing Empire? I heard only they have powerhouses of Exceed lifeform rank.'

Aleron helplessly smiled, 'Given his reaction, we urgently need to find more information about this world.'

'Indeed, my lord. Please forgive my incompetence,' Darzax apologetically said. 'I should have read books in the Royal Palace's library.'

'It's fine. I'll handle this,' Aleron said with a grin. 'I have read many books to know what to do.'

"So, Odar. How about keeping a tight lid on Dax's rank? Also, become our guide and we'll pay you handsomely."

Odar's eyes instantly shone. He stood up and took out a black card with blue patterns out of nowhere. "Take this Communication Card and just give me five minutes. I will bring your Adventurer Cards and accompany you as your guide."

"Alright, we'll wait outside," Aleron nodded with a smile. "Make sure nobody knows what you saw here today, okay?"

"I swear it upon my life!"
