Chapter 14 - Chapter 14, Another Rabbit Hole

A couple of hours passed as Kefir remained in his same spot within the vehicle. The sandstorm was passing through and he had shut all the windows, entrapping himself inside in hope for the storm to pass.

"How long is this gonna last, judging from the distance of the mountains from here, it's gonna take a while.." rambled Kefir who laid back on his seat. Rubbing his temples, ignoring the sudden aches of pain swelling from his bruised up body.

'Papa? I'll assist you in the run by inputting more blood flow which will allow you to do stuff a bit faster!' announced Gentle in a determined voice, making Kefir unknowingly chuckle.

"Thanks, I'll appreciate it when the time comes."

The vehicle rumbled and quaked as the storm of sand slashed and bounced off the car relative to a cat taunting a confined trap in a cage. Sand was slowly accumulating near the wheels, leading to it sinking the car even further in the depths of the storm.

"Screw you sandstorm, you're such a bitch" scoured Kefir, who was now laying on the two seats, feeling slightly drowsy and dizzy from the constant outpouring of the heat streaming the car.

"Guess I can't use the car now, honestly faith has been such a little.." kicking the jammed wheels enveloped in sand. He was unable to finish his words due to fatigue.

Gazing away to the far distance. Sudden realization beamed on him, a strange lump of sand was burrowing its ascent towards Kefir and his guts told him it wasn't a sign of a warm welcome.

"I don't know what the hell that is but DAMN IT" grunted Kefir who began sprinting down a hill in assistance of Gentle increasing his heart rate.

Rumble rumble swoosh!

It was a 1 mile run from here to the mountains, but this was his only option to survive since when he ran the creature similar to a worm consumed the truck with its sharp jarred teeth. Sending a shiver down his spine from how grotesque it looked.

Stomps followed by the rustling of impending doom behind his back, his gaze was forward, sweat covered his eyebrows and forehead once again accompanied by creases.

Nevertheless, Kefir held his paste until the worm started rising out from the sand to the sky before striking down mouth first in a clattering might.

He had evaded a couple of its strikes though sometimes he nearly fumbled down the massive craters left by the wormy creature which later were filled in by the sand nearby.

It was at the midpoint of the trip before the worm rose again. This time determined to strike its prey who had constantly dodged its attack that made it furious.

WOOSH!

Kefir in a hurry managed to evade its attack however he fell into the hole from the sand sliding away from his foot, turning his expression sour.

"Damn it DAMN IT-" despite his situation, he dug his fingers into the sides of the crater out of instinct. Unfortunately albeit it did momentarily help him stay put, the sand crumpled from his fingers due to the massive weight.

"Damn it, Gentle, you got anything I can do?!" he asked, averting his gaze to the ground that was inching closer as he spoke.

'No-'

Placing himself near the edges of the hole in his fall, Kefir made some effort to decrease his decline. Repeating his action of digging into the sides and the sand crumpling.

Until he landed on the ground. His fingers swelled in blisters due to the intense friction. His breath was haggard and his body covered in more injuries.

…

It was a cavern system of sorts except the halls were grand, reaching up to 300  meters. Analyzing his surroundings, his 'heart' was racing. His emotions jumbled in shit. The only thing he felt mainly was anger, not just at himself but at the world. He cursed faith for what had befallen to him.

The reason he was mad and tainted in some anxiety was because in the far distance away from him, a couple of worms similar to the one he saw earlier except smaller, standing at 100 meters squirmed around.  Curious on where the source of the plummeting noise arrived from.

"Seriously, just actually kill me." Kefir eyes twitched, a single teardrop plopped out. Reminiscing the snowy mountains that were so close to his reach…well not actually it was only the midway but still it was better than this.
