Chapter 63 - Winners and Two Halves of a Whole

{Jujutsu High, forest outskirts}

"After a 2 hour game we have a winner. At an astounding 17 minutes as the prey, Mai Zenin Is the first place winner!"

The Kyoto students were excited for their classmate. But keeping them on their toes I said, "The second place winner is Maki Zenin!"

Their confused looks and sounds that brought them from their revelry was funny to look at but I didn't keep them in suspense for long.

"Just because I said the prize for first didn't mean there weren't others." I said teasingly.

"As stated before I will create something that suits your style of combat if you get first place. Second place is an enchanted gear made by me. And third place, which belongs to Yuji gets a personalized meal of his choice!"

They celebrated again though. Then I waved them off to write up the reports for them all. They were all diamonds in the rough, even some like Miwa who had incredible skills but lacked power.

I told Mai and Maki to meet me in the classroom after they had time to clean up and made my own way to the classroom.

Greeting me there was a young man who by all definitions represented a soft demeanor, But what lay beneath was a monster ready to be unleashed.

A polite grin as I reached my hand over to him and said, "Azarius Noct Emiya, P.E. Teacher for Jujutsu High."

He had a smile of his own as he reciprocated and said, "Yuta Okkotsu, Second year Special grade Sorcerer."

I then went about talking to the teachers of what they saw and how they could structure the lessons moving forward. I even asked Yuta's opinion as he was a student himself and could provide some feedback on how their changes would be received.

When all was said and done we spent about an hour in there before they all left. Some had some work to do outside the school as a few missions popped up.

I was simply chilling in my desk when the two arrived. They were grudgingly accepting of the other but some animosity was still there.

Clapping my hands I got their attention as they quickly moved in front of my desk at attention.

"So my lucky winners, and that luck is not to be taken lightly mind you, since I decided to make these things I thought it best for you both to see the process and maybe even provide some input for yourself in the case of Mai. Understood?"

""Yes Sir!""

Yay some respect, low bar considering their classmates like Toudou.

Standing up I moved to a more open space in the room and felt inside me. With the opening of the Marble of Oblivion It was finally time for others to see it. Also it was time to reclaim something of mine.

Reaching out a hand I activated a function of my key. Reaching into the void next to me I pulled the blade from wherever they were keeping it.

Giving the blade a once over, they tried to seal it but to no avail as the seals were rapidly burning away.

"Now ladies, I will be opening a portal into my domain if you will. Mind you it is a completely real place called the Land of Mysteries. When the portal is opened just step through and well be there, alright." Getting a reluctant nod from the two of them I slashed forward.

The Blade alight with my powers tore into the fabric of space and connected to my little plane. Much less intensive then trying to overwrite the world at least.

The two quickly stepped through as I followed behind and the tear closed up. They looked in wonder of the world around them.

Chuckling behind them I moved in front of them and continued on. They caught the memo as I began to introduce the place.

"Welcome to the Land of Mysteries. Sadly the place is still under construction as the Plane has just recently formed. The path we are on leads to the Forge. One of the four corners of the realm where I decided to create a place for blacksmithing and other craftsmanship jobs."

"So you are a blacksmith then?" Mai asked me. I nodded and explained, "The Emiya family itself is actually descended from, at least in that world, Shinji Muramasa. A famous blacksmith who through shear willpower and skill created a sword that could cut through Karma itself.

While the actual process has changed much through time, we still hold a very strong connection to the concept of [Swords]. This led to my brother, who has Magecraft similar to your own Cursed Technique actually."

While she was stunned by my words Maki's turn to ask came, "This brother... Where is he?"

"He is currently still on Mundus, Last I saw of him was he was trying to comprehend a specific form of Magic if you will. The specific term is called Tonal Magic, He was trying to learn the Art of Sword Singing or Way of the Sword as it's called in other tongues."

Mai Spoke up as we were nearing the Forge, "This Magecraft you called it? What does it do?" Nodding along with her question as it was a good one, I reached my hand out as some Fog was attracted to my hand. It recreated a simple rod of Iron.

"Projection Magecraft is similar to what I just did, But with a few differences. A normal Magus utilizing it changes the physical properties of Air Molecules into another form through a spell called Gradation Air. Through understanding a structure we can recreate the object's form. Though myself and my brother take this a step further by adding in a few elements to even recreate the history of an object and their abilities."

Stepping onto the stone steps of the very large pavilion resembling the Breton forge halls in High Rock I said, "Welcome to the Forge! come along now and don't be shy."

They hurried up the stairs after me. The inside was almost just as I left it. There were the introduction of a few new pieces curtesy of my storage.

Walking to a table I deposited some metal Ingots. I started preparing for the forging process by heating the forge as well. The center bed of coals began to glow red under my work.

"So, Miss Mai, What do you think you need?" Curious to her response.

We were in silence for a time as they watched me, Struggles appeared on Mai's face as she tried to think what she needed.

In the end she let out a very defeated sigh and said, "I don't know." I nodded in understanding and waved a hand, projecting some chairs for the two guests as I continued to tend to the forge.

"Most do not, little miss, It's hard to realize what you need on your own sometimes. That is why we have friends, peers, and mentors. To see what we cannot. Many times while I was training under my many teachers I had my flaws pointed out to me. I was nowhere near perfect and neither am I still."

With some Tongs I gripped a small Piece of Ebony. "Care to hear my thoughts on both of you?"

Tossing the metal in the fire I heard no response from them so I continued, "Two halves of a whole. That is what I see in the two of you. Yin and Yang, but somewhere along the line... a part of the process was muddled."

I heard the gripping of a fist and cracking of knuckles, But I ignored it as I brought the Piece of Ebony from the flames and pulled my hammer from storage. The ring of the hammer brought them from their thoughts.

"Harmony is a key to many things in life." The ringing of the hammer echoing in the room around as I spoke. "We sometimes never realize just what that means even in our entire lifetimes. But make no mistake It is important for the two of you."

A flick of my hand as I placed the metal back in the fire brought a piece of Moonstone from the table into the fire as well.

Looking up at the two I said, "To deny each other for what the other has is what holds you both back. Maki has begun this transformation, now it is your own turn Mai. Maki tell her what you have been doing before you met me."

With shame she looked to the ground. Reluctant to speak of her mistake, but she powered through her shame and said, "In my desire to be stronger I clung to the little bit of cursed energy inside of me. Trying everyday to do something with it. To make it move just the tiniest bit. But it never responded. Ever."

"Mai, what do you think of that?" Returning the piece of Ebony to my anvil and hammering away.

With a hint of fear of how her sister thought of her she said honestly, "I am angry... and sad. You kept getting stronger and stronger but I was always falling behind. And when you left..."

Tears left her face as she looked down. I placed the ebony back onto the flames and pulled the moonstone and began hammering cleansing and refining the piece.

"Miss Maki, Actions have consequences. I can't claim to know your thoughts. But what I am aware of is the past. As you withdrew away from the Zenin, justified as you were, your actions resulted in your twin feeling betrayed and abandoned. What I hope to do today, is fix that.

You both are two halves of a whole. One carries the heavenly restrictions and the other the Cursed Technique." The moonstone was far easier to mold into shape on the anvil and was already prepped for the final grind. The ebony part still needed a bit.

"The Body, and the Technique. If you agree to my little gift, What will happen from now on will be that you two fight together. A Sword and Sheath if you will." A grind stone moved from a corner as I finished the ebony part.

Letting the two stew in my words as I completed the project. In the end Mai broke the silence as she looked to her sister, "I want to do it."

A grateful smile donned on Maki's face as she said through a cracked voice, "I'd be happy to."

Pulling a string of ebon thread from my storage I used telekinesis to weave them into a chord and cut two pieces. Threading the two pieces of metal into necklaces I wave a hand once more as Fog covered the ground at our feet.

The Fog condensed into a table with an enchanting circle on it.

Holding the two pieces for the girls to see I said, "What I plan to do is the white or Yang part of the necklace will belong to Maki. Being the physically stronger of you two will carry the physical burden of your cursed Technique."

I allowed the Yang symbol to float at my words for them to see it.

"This will also facilitate to complete Maki's heavenly restriction, Linking the two of you as the Yin half will belong to Mai. She will take in the cursed energy that remains in you Maki and it will also allow her to finally expand her container of Cursed energy."

Mai confused by my words asked, "Expand my container? But how, I was born with this amount right?"

Giving a sympathetic nod I elaborated. "You can think of it like this, Maki held on to a portion of YOUR cursed energy. As your's was not whole it could not grow any further do to it's incompleteness. When it is all together again a quality change will occur and you will have an increase in the amount of energy you can contain and use as it regains it's wholeness."

Maki looked ashamed as I said that and so I clarified, "This was no fault of your own. In fact if your family had rectified it in early childhood, you both would have been very strong by now. With her creation and a body like Toji, you two would have been unstoppable."

"But why didn't they!" Maki screamed. Giving the girl a look about her voice while I was completing a very complex enchantment, I said, "Because they believe that to be a sorcerer one must have cursed energy. To not have that means they are a Non-Sorcerer, in other words, useless. Idiots the lot of them. Though admittedly they have some strength, they are fools."

The fraternal twin necklaces danced in the light as the Enchantment circle took effect. The many runes I used to convey the meaning of what I wanted to accomplish danced around the objects.

They layered themselves onto the necklaces in sequence until finally they relaxed and slowly floated to the table below. Picking them up I held them to the two sisters.

"Yin for Mai and Yang for Maki. Once you place these necklaces they will no longer come off. There are enchantments to allow them to disappear from view though."

They received their respective necklace and turned to each other. Without prompting they handed the other their necklace and laughed a bit as they had a "same brain" moment. They helped the other place on their necklace and then turned to me as they didn't feel anything new yet.

"The final part is to unite the symbols. Like I said, Two halves of a whole."

They took a deep breath and united the symbols. As they connected they were stunned in place as the enchantment took effect.

Activating my Mystic vision, (Changing name as It has evolved so much now) I saw the last remnant of Cursed Energy left Maki and flowed into Mai. Finishing her Heavenly restriction and freeing her of Cursed Energy. Mai's reserve expanded in contrast to her sister's freedom. An Equal measure as she now stood with her sister. They had smiles as they gazed at one another. Feeling the other's presence despite the heavenly restriction eliminating Maki's presence.

As they came back down from their new states I said, "I want to tell you of a story of what might have been for the two of you." Holding hands they sat back in their seats.

"After Gojo's capture and the death of the head of the Zenin Family they appointed Megumi as the head by technicality. With his permission Maki would head to the Zenin Compound to retrieve the cursed weapons in the Vault for the coming threat. A fight would break out and Maki would go on a warpath against the Family."

They were understandably shocked from my words. but noticeably not surprised by too much of it.

"Mai would go to help her sister in spite of their sisterly spat and seek to help her. In the end she used her strength to defend her sister but it wasn't enough. She was injured in the process."

I spoke as if it wasn't the two in front of me in the story. A future that would not come to pass anymore.

"In the end the sister sacrificed the last of herself to change herself into a new creation, a sword, and with the world's help finish her sister's heavenly restriction."

Looking at the two I finished with a smile, "A future now broken due to my influence. Succeed where you would have lost. Grow stronger now that you both have a chance alright?"

Don't worry the face slapping will come soon.

In the meantime... Stones?

AN:// Wanted a better ending for the sisters and this is the start. Before a tragic ending now resolved way beforehand, makes way for some intriguing changes to the story.

Happy to all who support this book! You make me wish to write when i have nothing to read. Also to the fellow who recommended the Toji in DC (young justice timeline) thank you for the recommendation. It did give Ideas to what I plan to do with the sisters.

Love you all!
