Chapter 18 - Minor Renovations and A Visitor.

After dragging the cart back to our soon to be fixed up home, we split our responsibilities. Since i was literally a child it was easier for me to sort the things. Rather than Shirou's job of moving the furniture and such. So for the next couple of hours i busied myself with checking and sorting the metals by their types. It was a little different that what i expected when i though of coming to another world but, meh. Fireballs are nice but if you can't afford to live then what are you even doing.

"Shirou, how's it looking up there?" as he came down the stairs into the main floor I asked. "Decent enough. Had to modify some things so it can be more familiar." With a question mark practically written on my face he added, "I remade most of the furniture to follow a more Japanese theme. It's on the more traditional style but i worked with what i had."

"OK, i have so many questions. Chief among them being, how? Like the furniture we had grabbed was mostly wood and metal, even the stuff we grabbed from what looked like a Dunmerian guy's place from the paintings of the volcano on his wall, was FAR removed from that and it has been a few hours at most!"

"I work fast..." he said while turning away. So i did the reasonable thing and ran past him up the stairs.

What greeted me was a weird combination sight to see. With a low table and cushions in the center of our living room. Off to the left side a recent addition before the wood stove was a full sized counter that wrapped in an L shape around the stove. There were also some small decorations around too. Bits of Glass vases around to give a more "filled in" feeling. The weird part came from where those things were mismatched. The table was obviously a Nordic one, cut down to size, since the tribal reliefs in it suggested so. The counter seemed to be the same except for the top of it was once a marble piece of the city, somehow cut to size. There was also a new window at the top of the stairs I just climbed to match the one facing the street. The glass was a different color was the main difference. Both were still on the clear side but the new one was tinted a slight green.

"How can you do so much in so little time? Also this looks awesome even if it does offend like 3 different cultures." with him walking behind me I did have to say something. "If they have the strength to say something they can." he said with a scoff moving past me. "As for how I can do this so fast? I had to fix the Emiya estate so many times, handyman is literally part of my legend, Azarius. Rin wasn't exactly the most gentle of people after all."  The last part came through as more of a murmur.

"Anyways, I saw most of the metal was separated and also you had counted the coins you called Septims. So based on what you know how is it looking?" I chose to go along with his changing of the subject. no matter how much i wanted to hear more. "Well, as far as Septims go, we are sitting on 94 coins. The jewels and such could probably get us another few hundred if we could sell them. With all of the scraps of metal we could reasonably make a few things to sell. If I'm honest we should start with daggers since we could potentially make more items."

"Not a bad idea, we will also have to see about a supply line later. In the meantime that amount of cash will be towards food and such as we get settled." that sounds good to me in my head. No need to rush.

"For now since I've finished these two floors I'll go check out the city and grab a few things from the market to eat. In the meantime just stay here. As for protection, I'll create a projection for you to hold on to. Don't get any ideas and if strange people come by you hide, got it." his stern face he gave me at that was kinda funny to look at. With a smirk on my face i gave a salute and said "Yes Oni'sama!" his audible groan was music. "Just never say that again, please" he said shaking his head. "No promises!"

As he quickly left i decided to check out my new room. since he did say he finished up there too. climbing up the stairs across the living room i was once more back in the top floor. There was a new railing going up and around the top of the stairs. Still wondering where he got all of the wood for this. After opening my room i noticed a few things. First he made a futon somehow. It was situated in the right corner of the room with a window in the middle facing out to the backyard. on the left side of the window was a Small coffee table with two cushions on either side of it. In the left corner on the door side was a new desk. The style of it just screamed uppity so my guess it was an Altimer's at some point.

"Damn, i wonder if he learned enough if he could get a divinity in this stuff. Seriously how did he set up this in so little time!?" after talking to myself i approached the small table and took a seat bringing up the blade i had in my hands to the table. Since i didn't have Trace yet i couldn't tell everything about it. What i did know was he used a decent chunk of Magicka it do it though. It was in a sheath unlike most of Shirou's projections.

Pulling the blade out to inspect it i saw it was a curved tip blade. Similar to a military knife or hunting knife. Easy to wield and not to heavy for me. The difference came to the inscription on it's sides. I couldn't read it but it seemed like it was Arabic in origin. Memories of a backpack my father gave me had my name written twice in two languages on it. It did look similar to it, hence my guess.

Deciding to do something maybe productive i head back down to the ground floor of the shop. Grabbing a spare piece of what was to be fire wood i start to chisel and scrape at it for some vague attempt at carving. When there's noting to do get creative! Didn't figure out what i was carving until about 5 minutes into it. It was slowly taking shape as another dagger. Huh, guess blades are a first thought to go to in my random mind. It's shape was similar to an iron dagger from the game. Nothing special. Maybe i could use it to train?

My thoughts were interrupted though after getting the basic shape down. Unlike what Shirou thought i would encounter as far as intruders go... this one was far from a robber. My senses told me not to open my eyes, the dread i felt creep into my bones told me to stay still, and the "Shift" in the world told me not to draw breath. For but a single moment everything changed. "DREM" The presence spoke and "peace" was forced unto the world. When i opened my eyes i was greeted by a new presence on the counter of the shop. In the visage of a dragon the size of a housecat here he was. My thoughts were rushing to my head and i remembered that old dragon's greeting from the throat of the world.

"Drem Yol Lok" my voice wasn't powerful. The sound i made wasn't that confident either. It did not change the world but the little dragon on the counter smirked slightly. He was burnt orange in the color of his scales. The eyes were a molten gold. The tips of his horns stretching from the back of his little head were also golden followed by an Ivory material following the small horns to its base.

"Hello, little god, we finally have a chance to speak." His voice was wispy and aged yet an unmistaken springiness to it though. My breath i had been holding until now was released and recovering. "I can claim it as an honor, though one has to wonder which name you wish to be called?" his chuckle at that was helpful to ease my tensions. "Many names i have been called little one. For the current time we can go with my "Divine's name" Akatosh." Yeah the hunch was right. and equally terrifying since i saw him destroy Dagon just yesterday.

"Little God, why not introduce oneself?" ahh, right, manners. deep breaths, "My name is Azarius Emiya. My Title is that of The Lord of Mysteries. Even if i can't fill those shoes anytime soon they are mine to fill." "Ahh, so you are in the process of Mantling?" He asks. But at the end of the day, It's just not the same. "That's a way to think about it, but instead of me becoming Him, He gave it up to me." The little dragon body settled on the counter. "Intriguing, to think one of such power would just give it up." and the words slipped from my mouth unconsciously, "He was mortal. At least at one point he was."

"Ahh, a fine example then. one who rose to the station. And you seek to follow him then?" Settling his head on his arms to stare at me. It was a piercing but comforting gaze.

"I don't know what i seek, Akatosh. I hold his title, I hold his oldest companion, But I'm to build my own form. I'll just try to do my best in the mean time." "A fair answer child. You spoke the words of my tongue, child. From where did you learn?" Now ain't that a thing. "I saw them spoken many times. Your "Child" at the throat of the world. He spoke them in a few hundred years into the future. Through the elder scrolls outside of Mundus we could see through the eyes of the latest dragonborn, at least to us they were."

"Yes, Paarthurnax. An intriguing child he is. To go against one's instinct and choose the opposite of his eldest sibling. To rebel, I almost thought Boetheia was the one to change him. But no, he truly is an interesting child. The way of the voice, he called it? A fascinating change I nor the others of mine could induce into them such change. A thought all on his own." I was far more relaxed now as the Old Dragon rambled. [Time] he may be, but he was still a father it seemed.

"Little one, you seem to know what is to come?" yeah, walked onto that landmine. "Yeah, not the complete story but mainly bits and pieces. Major events leading to 4E 201." "Oh, seems the scroll you witnessed had quite the vision." not wanting to completely nerd out on Akatosh i said, "It told of events and we practically lived through them as if controlling another's body. We couldn't feel them but we could see and hear this world. For so many hours i helped make the story. Just as i had witnessed the life of the hero of Cyrodil."

"So child, What do you wish to do?" This question again... but this time, i had an answer. looking him in the eyes even as my body screamed at me to warn me, i spoke, "I just want to live." As we kept our little stare down his smile grew. then he chuckled into a full blown laugh. As he started to laugh i couldn't help myself and joined in.

This absurd new life, i just wanted to live it.

AN//: Sorry about the pervious day with no chapter here's a bit longer one for you.

I'M ON VACATION NOW!!!!

So expect me to try to write what my ADD brain will let me. There will be a bit of a skip in the next chapter so we can get on with the magic!!! I have been planning it as well as trying to figure out a system that would work with say how the dragonborn uses spells.

Key things i kept in mind:

1. Before the spell is used it shows on the hands of the individual in some form of representation. (IE: Flames, Sparks, and/or Frost emitting from the hands.)

2. People can channel and adjust the spells in question.

3. Integrated into fate Magecraft later on.

4. "Raw" Magicka of a person doesn't naturally leave the body.

With these four things i kept in mind for how i wanted at least the basics of the Magicka system before we get into it shifting with new knowledge. Will probably visit the Mods section of Skyrim to get Ideas for spells. If you have a specific spell you might wanna see leave it in the comments!
