Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Jun Haoyu

August 7th 3078, Beijing, China.

"Gan! I'll be late for the appointment with Master Li again. Ugh! Should I just go back? I really don't need to research that thing anymore. I'm sure that I've completed the family catalogue. I just need to find a conducive energy source and the model can go online. Though..., I wonder if I was too hasty, molding it into my brain just as it seemed complete." Jun Haoyu, a handsome mixed Asian, cringed on his way to Beijing University.

His 6"'8"' shredded body drew a glaring parallel with the shorter but fit figures around him. In this day and age most people's parents had the option to fine-tuning their children's genetics and fitness research was a done and dusted business.

Hence, short was now roughly 5 foot 8 inches to 5 foot 11 inches while medium was at 6 feet flat to 6 foot 4 inches whereas old Olympic records were broken ages ago and dinosaurs were revived and put in a lower, oxygen saturated sector of the earth. The advancements and changes would be shocking to the old people from the 20th century.

Haoyu was a striking figure in today's society where most Chinese people were averse to western body building or conditioning, as there was belief that a patriotic citizen would single mindedly turn to the national art for bodily maintenance and health promotion.

Yeah, prejudices were still alive and well.

Correspondingly, the catalogue of slurs Haoyu had to go through in his younger years. Goodness gracious, it felt so good to ditch steroids baby.

Unfortunately for the bulk of Chinese people today, authentic martial arts learnings were as rare as Phoenix feathers and Unicorn horns.

Authentic martial arts that still thrived where Family pastimes and the stuff of ceremonial protocol

This however, was of no significance to his family where his ancestors had intermarried with foreigners just to enhance the gene pool...

Haoyu came from an ancient line that kept up it's inheritance till date. His family were barely of middle class status and wealth and as 'special' Ascetics you'd except them to easily cut down on costs other people would deem indespensible but...he was made to travel around learning various things and studying at various places.

He really loved his family and all to do with it except for the fact he was expected to have a loveless marriage. No matter how he reasoned with his parents they would not have him jeopardize the work of his ancestors just because it was inconvenient and out of trend.

Sometimes, he wondered how whipped his father was to agree to such an ancestral percept when he a Greenlandic swimmer, was married into the family!

While he was absent minded, Jun Haoyu failed to see the laserblade hurtling down towards him from the 9th floor of the building beside him.

Just before the laserblade pierced his collar, he heard the whistling of the wind.

Instinctively, he sidestepped into the teleportation booth, avoiding a glaring injury. But as his luck would have it, the faulty teleportation station exploded engulfing and vapourizing him, sending him through God knows what to God knows where.

Jun Haoyu's last thoughts were, "Sneaky Bas–"

And so ended the 29 short years of Jun Haoyu's life. On the bright side, no arranged marriage.
