Chapter 5 - Bitter victory in pain

The sound of metal clashing and magic crackling filled the air as the two warriors faced each other in a deadly combat. They were the best fighters of their respective armies, and they knew that the outcome of their duel would decide the fate of the war. Klaus, the human commander, fought with bravery and dignity, inspiring his men with his noble example. Urlgh, the goblin champion, fought with savagery and trickery, terrifying his foes with his ruthless tactics. They traded weapons strikes and spells, probing each other's defenses and looking for an opening. They were equally skilled and powerful, and neither could gain an advantage over the other. But then, Klaus made a costly error. He stretched his arm too far, exposing his side to a counterattack. Urlgh did not miss his chance and unleashed a devastating blow. He feinted to the left, then swung his axe to the right with a burst of magic. He aimed for Klaus's neck, hoping to decapitate him with one stroke. But Klaus was not easily deceived by his maneuver. He lifted his shield to parry the axe, but he did not expect the strength behind it. The blow smashed his shield and fractured his hand, hurling him to the ground. The recoil from this attack was great send even Urlgh few feets away but Klaus rowed like a tyre on the group.

Klaus lay still on the soil, blood oozing from his injuries. The human soldiers who had been rooting for him went quiet, their expressions turning to shock and dismay. Calvin, Klaus's younger brother, gazed at him with tears streaming down his face. He reached for his sword, but it was not there. He looked around, but he could not see it. He had lost it during the turmoil of the battle. It was obvious he wanted to help his beloved elder brother. Even Klaus's sword had disappeared, a soldier like Klaus who could never drop his weapon was now lying lifeless without a weapon.

Urlgh smirked victoriously, as he sensed that he had won. He walked towards Klaus, preparing to finish him off. But as he approached him, he felt a sudden pain in his chest. He looked down and saw a sword impaling his heart. He spat blood, and collapsed to his knees refusing to fall face flat. He gripped his axe to support his massive size, refusing to admit his defeat. He tried to get up, but he could only invocate power to move one knee off the ground, his energy was draining rapidly. With his dying breath, he cast an illusion spell, so powerful that the loose ground was almost floating, he hoping to terminate the soldiers in the mine. This kind of release of magic was unheard of it was beyond any normal being in any race to forthbring such magic all at once and in a dying state. A light barrier sealed the entrance of the mine and another enclosed Klaus. Meleona, the human mage, was baffled by his spell. She wondered "why he would shield us after such a spell and at the same time, it doesn't match up ". When she spotted spell at the entrance, She saw Klaus's hand pointing towards the mine, and understood that he had cast a counter-spell he had protection them while she was protecting him.

Calvin broke into tears and fury, as he witnessed his brother's selflessness. He ran out of the mine, and unleashed a blast of fire that resembled the sun. The blast was so intense that it took all the goblin riders to stop it with their magic. -It was a very weird day because two enormous spell of monstrerious magic levels had been casted. The blast still inflicted a lot of damage to the goblin army, making them panic and run. Urlgh was dead, and they had lost their leader and their morale. Robert, also joined the assault, with a huge wave of water that washed away the remaining goblins. His spell was lesser than the former he had conjured. He knew his brother was alive so he was just making sure that the goblins flee for good.He wanted to ensure that none of them would return to harm his friends. They were all weary and just wanted to go home and rest.

At last, Klaus got up. He stood and took a deep breath, looking around to see the destruction caused by Calvin and Robert. He walked towards Urlgh pulled out his sword from urlgh's chest and he cut off Urlgh head. It was one of his old bad habits he had cultured as a soldier, always taking a trophy home after a fight. He saw the sadness in everyone's eyes, even after the victory. He saw his brothers and he felt gratitude and affection for the whole troop that was still with him. He smiled faintly, and said, "We did it. We won." Then he fainted as meleona rushed to heal his injuries, she was the only soldier that still had some fight in her. The rest of the soldiers including Calvin and Robert were completely drained now and needed at least a few day of rest to recover. After heading to the mining site and healing all minor injuries, they resumed their march to the village of Lamperogue where they hoped to find peace and healing. Ryker's situation was the next and only thing in everyones mind now. The match was silent as everyone was grieving.

Few hours past and they were at the outskirts of the village and it was too early for the villagers to be awake. He a group persons were standing in front of them without even noticing their presence. The soldiers where weary of the group and prepared to engage...
