Chapter 8 - AN UNEXPECTED VISIT

MORETTI'S GLOBAL ENTERPRISE

Riccardo sat in his office, swamped with far too many projects to get through to be marked completed. There were several acquisitions and offers to be accessed before it could be approved and he knew it'd be a long evening for him.

With files and reports spread out over the glass top of his desk, he leaned unto his chair and loosened his necktie. He was exhausted, and he needed to finish the whole file before he could leave the office, those were his principles.

Being a Mafia Don, that didn't hinder him from being one of the top Billionaires in the city.

As he glanced through the numerous files on his table, he heard the door opening and two male figured strotted in, their faces void of emotions.

They made themselves comfortable on the couch in the office. Minutes later, Riccardo shut down his computer and went to join them, sitting opposite them.

"Adriana is in your custody," Vincenzo, the elder one amongst them said without dropping any form of formalities.

"I guess Theodore bursted the news to you," Riccardo muttered. The secretary appeared in the room with a tray which contained three glasses of coffees. She set them on the table before them and disappeared afterwards.

"Why the fûck is she still alive?!" Vincenzo growled in a low voice. "She should be fûcking dead by now!"

"Don't tell me… you still gat feelings for her?" Antonio asked.

Salvatore Moretti, a well-known Prestigious man in the whole of Italy had only four sons. Vincenzo, which is the first son and the eldest one and the underworld Boss, Riccardo, the second son who's the Mafia Don, Antonio, the third son, and then Theodore, the last son.

These four brothers shared a great bond. They were called the Moretti's brothers.

"I believe you don't have a short memory, do you?" Vincenzo asked, his words having some deep meaning in it.

"I have no feelings or any sort for Adriana. If I had, would I have brought her to my house when I know Theodore would meet her by chance?" Riccardo said, clearing the tension that was already building in the room.

"Then, what's your plans? Because I can't stand that girl being alive after costing our Mother's life!" Vincenzo banged his hand on the table loudly. The table shook and a little content of the coffee spilled on the table. He cared less.

"I'll take care of this," Riccardo muttered. Vincenzo was about to say a word but Antonio beats him to it.

"How's everything going? It's been long and I'm thinking of coming back to your mansion," he released a groan as he rested his back on the armrest.

"Don't you dare!" Riccardo growled, glaring hard at him.

"For that, expect me in your mansion in two days time," Antonio winked and got to his feet.

"If you step your goddamn legs in my house, I'mma cut them off!" Antonio laughed at his words.

"I love dares," He made a silly dance while Vincenzo shook his head with a light chuckle.

"How's Theodore? How's he taking things?" Vincenzo asked Riccardo who had already resumed back to his position, before his computer.

"He's fine," Riccardo only said as he got himself busy.

"If you want to get your revenge, I suggest you keep a close eye on her. I'm pretty sure she wouldn't stay still and let you have a control over her life," Vincenzo stated.

Riccardo wasn't surprised by that statement. Of course he knew Adriana wouldn't stay still and let him hold her captive, she'd surely have a plan. One thing he knew was that, Adriana can never escape from his watch.

BLACK ACE MOB

"You keep staring at her," Haunter appeared beside Theodore who was on the training ground, taking a short rest. He had just finished one of his numerous trainings and decided to rest before retreating to his room.

Theodore took his gaze from Adriana who was walking by the other side alone, he faced Haunter.

"Are you here for training?" He asked as he raised the bottle of water to his lips. He drank the whole contents in a go

"No. I'm here for you," Haunter replied in a rather soft voice.

"I already told you I'm fine," Theodore muttered without soaring her a glance.

"You didn't look great last night. Your eyes…"

"I already told you it's not gonna work out between the two of us. Acting this way ain't gonna favor you, Haunter" Theodore cuts her off.

Haunter shook her head in disapproval. "I can't stop myself from worrying about you, Theodore. I tried to stay away but I can't, I…"

"Then, I'll stay away," Theodore interrupted. He got to his feet and glanced at Haunter whose eyes were already filled with tears.

"Be good," he smiled shortly before leaving the training ground.

Tears trickled down Haunter's cheeks freely. She rushed to her feet and immediately got a hold of a bow and arrow, with anger and frustration boiling deep inside her, she began training hard. Even when she was out of breath, she didn't stop. Rather, she continued, letting her tears and frustrations out.

It was past 11pm, the time Adriana had been waiting for. Earlier that day, she had gone round the whole mansion in the name of taking a stroll. But in reality, it was an escape goal for her.

She had checked out the possible way to leave the mansion without causing any suspicion and she found a way.

Not wanting to waste any more time, she hastily carried her bag and walked towards the door. She opened it and walked out of the room, tiptoeing as she passed through the hallway.

Adriana noticed the unusual silence in the mansion, no single soul was in sight and that troubled her. Maybe luck was on her side - those were her thoughts.

With her heart in her mouth, she left the mansion and picked a race when she got to the driveway. She had successfully avoided any beings she came across and finally she got to the main gate.

How she got out of the mansion was still a mystery as the gate wasn't locked, but that was the least of her concern. Escaping the place and reuniting with her sons was the only thing on her mind.

Just as she got out of the mansion, a taxi drove past her and she immediately hailed it down. Hurriedly, she entered the car and the driver drove away instantly.

"Finally," Adriana breathed out in relief. She rested her back on the chair as she imagined how Riccardo is gonna reach when he finds out she's gone. He'll probably flare up - she grinned to herself.

She never knew escaping a place filled with mobsters were so damn easy, she really deserved a medal.

After a long drive, the car finally stopped in front of a house and Adriana stared around in confusion. This was her house and she couldn't recollect telling the driver the address of her house.

"How did you…"

"You told me your address as soon as you got in the car. Please get down Miss, I need to go to my family," the driver said.

"Oh, yeah" Adriana got down from the car and paid the taxi driver with the little cash left in her bag.

She stared at her house with a triumphant smile on her lips. She did it, she escaped.

She darted to the corridor in a rush and immediately unlocked the door with the key under the doormat. That's where the key to the house is usually kept.

She entered the house and immediately locked the door, then she rested her face on it as she breathed out in relief.

"I did it," she whispered as she was finally able to breath again.

"Welcome," the masculine voice she heard made her froze. Wait, was she hearing things again? Did she miss Riccardo so much that she's hearing his voice in her head?

"Ho aspettato tutto il giorno, Mia amata {I've been waiting all day long, My beloved}" the dark Italian voice she heard confirmed her fears.

With her eyes wide like a saucers, she turned and as soon as her eyes met with him sitting on the couch with his legs and arms crossed, a scream left her lips.

He was on the couch, dressed in a dark suit. Two of the top buttons were undone, leaving his hard tattooed chest in view. His blue eyes were piercing into hers as he puffed out smoke from his lips.

Adriana could feel her heart threatening to burst out of its ribcage. Just, how the hell did he got into her house?
