The cold war between NATO and WARSAW states was at it's peak accompanied by global tension as mankind neared the third world war. And then, just like that.... everything changed.
Some said it was a blessing in disguise, God wanted to spare man the horrors of another war, others hailed it as divine punishment upon a sinful world and the rest denounced it as a prank from a mischievous devil. No one can really give a satisfactory explanation, but what we all know is that on the night of October 6, a wormhole appeared over the city of Beijing and for the next seven hours, strange malevolent creatures rained down on the city.
The Chinese military swung into action almost immediately but the ensuing slaughter could not be evaded. Guns, bombs, trophedoes, nuclear warheads, none of the conventional weapons know to man could put a scratch on these creatures.
They tore through the city-the entire country-unchecked, massacring and gobbling up every thing in their path, so we called them that -GOBLINS.
Fearing the approaching onslaught neighbouring nations called to the failed UN for assistance, but as suddenly as they came, the goblins left our world through the wormhole. Mankind was devastated, the entire world went into blind panic.
Would another wormhole appear? When and where would it open? Was there really nothing we could do?
With these questions firmly fastened to our minds we launched an expedition into the slowly closing wormhole above Beijing. The whole world watched as unmanned probes entered into a new world brimming with life, unpolluted environments and untapped resources. And in that moment, fear was traded for an equally powerful emotion -ENVY. How could s uch savage unintelligent creatures lay claim to this perfect world?
The probes returned with samples of rock, soil, plants and minerals. Almost immediately, 29 nations launched independent manned expeditions through the wormhole, into the world we named NORI.
That very day, exactly 42 hours after what is now know as the Beijing incident, the wormhole -or DEVIL SPOTS as we called them- closed, trapping those inside.
Paris, Tunisia, Kyoto, Dublin, Rome, for the next one year various cities around the world experienced devil spots and the world's population plummeted. Surprisingly, on the 3rd of December 2018, a devil spot appeared over Montreak however only four men emarged. They were quickly identified as members of the expedition team from Mexico and placed in quarantine in case they carried foreign bacteria. But they only wanted to contact global authority.....
.... That night an announcement broadcast on every IT device on the planet, man had found a way to predict the appearance of devil spots and the means to fight back against the goblin onslaught.
Naturally, we assumed that at this point, after all that had happened and all the lived we had lost,we would look to protect ourselves and our world, but we couldn't have been more wrong....
