Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Cynthia's POV

I found myself in a dark room with a creepy aura. Zander's entire family stood in line, surrounded by men who appeared to be dead but still alive, resembling zombies. Their lifeless eyes stared back at me as they all wore long black robes. Suddenly, Zander's mother collapsed to the ground, followed by the rest of his family members, all falling lifeless.

I jerked to a sitting position, gasping for air as my heart raced against my chest. Beads of sweat dripped off my forehead. I quickly rose off the bed and rushed to the room where Zander was.

His whole family was in danger. I knew this dream meant something; my dreams always become a reality. I pushed the door open and entered the room.

"Zander… Your family is in danger. I had a very terrible dream about them. You have to go and save them," I said, panting heavily. I knew they were all going to die, and he had to go and save them at all costs.

"I know," Zander said calmly.

My eyes widened in shock. Why was he still here if he knew his whole family was in danger? Wasn't he supposed to go and save them?

"Zander, why are you still here? Aren't you going to save them? What about your son? Zander, please go and save them before they die. You can't sit here," I asked, still panting.

Zander sat there quietly without saying anything. I blinked, feeling my body heat rising. Why was he sitting there quietly if he knew his whole family was in danger?

"Zander… Aren't you going to save your family? Are you going to sit here without doing anything to save them?" I asked, looking at him. His room was dark, so I couldn't see his face properly.

"The hardest part of life is when you have to make a choice, choosing between something you need and something you can't live without. And even when you make the right choice, someone has to pay the price for our choice. I've made a choice, and someone is paying for it," Zander said calmly.

I frowned, looking at Zander with a distant gaze. I couldn't understand what he meant and why he was saying all this. The only thing I knew was that his whole family was in danger right now.

"Zander, I don't understand what you are saying right now, and I honestly don't know what you mean. But you must go and save your family right now. They are in danger," I explained. I didn't know what was happening or what he meant, but he needed to act quickly before anything could happen to them.

"You still don't understand what I'm saying?" Zander snapped.

"How am I supposed to understand if you don't say anything?" I retorted angrily. I couldn't read people's minds, so how was I supposed to know what he meant right now?

"I had to choose between you and my family, and I chose to save you, which means that my whole family is going to get killed. Do you understand now?" Zander asked.

A gasp escaped from my mouth, my whole body froze on the ground, a heavy feeling settled in my stomach as his words sank in. I couldn't believe what he had just said. How could he sacrifice his whole family for me? I was no one to him; we had just met, but his family had always been there for him. I didn't mind dying, but I couldn't be the reason why anyone died.

"Zander, please go and save your family... I don't care if I die, but all I know is that you must save your family right now. Please?" I said, tears welling up in my eyes. I couldn't bear the thought of him losing his family because of me.

"It's already too late... I've already made my choice, and I chose to save you from any danger, and I will do it until my last breath," Zander said.

I couldn't understand what had possessed him. How could he let his mother and son die just like that? All because of me?

"Zander, please go and save your family, please. I won't be able to live knowing that I'm the reason why your family died. Please go," I begged, tears welling up in my eyes.

"I don't know what spell you've cast on me, but I can't leave you here all alone…The thought of you dying feels like I will be losing a big part of me that I can't replace no matter how much I want to," Zander said, his voice oddly gentle. I was failing to understand this man at all. Why would he do that?

"Zander, I'm not worth saving, even if I die, no one is going to cry for me but your family has always been there for you, they supported you.. You can't just let them die saving a stranger.. Please rethink your decision.." I said, my heart ached at the thought of that cute boy being killed because of me, he has a bright future ahead of him even though he was a vampire.

"Cynthia, you should go and rest because you have a lot of running to do later.. Both our lives are in great danger… So you need to rest as much as you could get." Zander said with staid calmness. I ran out of his room, tears welling up in my eyes. I can't believe this was really happening.

"Cynthia…" I heard my mom's voice. I walked over to the bed and sat down, tears welled up in my eyes even more.

"Mom, please save them, they can't die because of me, I can't be a reason anyone dies." I said, more tears welling up in my eyes.

"No one can go against Zakaria, my dear, even ghosts can't go against him. You will have to protect yourself because if you die, there would be a disaster." My mother's voice said, but her words fell deaf to my ears. The only thing I thought about was the innocent people who were dying because of me.

"Cynthia, are you even hearing what I'm saying?" My mother asked, but I didn't have the energy to talk to her.

"Please leave me alone, mom." I said, I hugged my knees, tears welling up in my eyes. This is all I could do, crying without taking any action. I felt so stupid and useless..
