Marigold-"You, you have dark magic?"
Julius-"Well he-"
Damion-"Yes"
Adam-"(scratches the back of his neck) Yeah, I guess we didn't mention that did we?"
Lucious (in his head)-"He has dark magic, so that's why..."
Marigold-"If you have dark magic, does that mean you-?"
Julius-"Well you see, Damion is a curseborn"
Marigold-"He's a curseborn?"
Lucious (in his head)-"Not only is he a dark magic user, he's a curseborn"
Joe(in his head)-"I knew occasionally throughout our adventures Damion being a curseborn would cause us trouble. But I didn't think it would be immediately after we entered a new village"
Marigold(in her head)-"I wasn't expecting to see a curseborn here. Is there something I need to do?"
Damion-"Did it work?"
Marigold-"What?"
Damion-"Did the evolution skill work?"
Marigold-"Well um..."
Marigold(in her head)-"I should calm down, when I connected to him to evolve his skills I could see that he is filled with dark magic, but my instincts tell me he doesn't mean any harm. Although it's not like my instincts were ever that great"
Marigold-"I apologize, I was startled is all. But no I'm afraid it didn't work. I am unable to evolve the skills from dark magic"
Damion-"Oh well, it was worth a try"
Joe-"So only Adam and Elise gained evolved skills"
Adam-"I definitely thought Julius was going to gain an evolved skill"
Elise-"And I also believed that Damion would get one too, but I guess it doesn't work on dark magic"
Joe(in his head)-"I noticed neither of them said my name, that's perfectly fine... mostly"
Julius-"I was hoping we would all get evolved skills, but I'm sure we'll be able to get them later"
Damion-"She said I can't get one"
Julius-"Well, yeah. But I'm sure we'll figure something out. You are super strong without an evolved skill"
Damion-"Thank you"
Julius(in his head)-"I hope I didn't sound condescending there"
Voice-"I don't think Damion cares. He has dealt with worse"
Julius(in his head)-"I know, I was just hoping more would go right for Damion from now on. Hopefully I can help him through his future struggles"
Voice-"You're a scientist, not a therapist"
Julius(in his head)-"Sometimes your feedback is not necessary"
Voice-"It's always necessary"
Elise-"Well, now that we've got these new skills do you want to test them out?"
Adam-"I assume by testing them out you mean a sparring match?"
Elise-"Obviously. Hey Lucious, is there somewhere we can fight without destroying the forest?"
Luscious-"There is a large stone area at the top of a nearby hill. I would still suggest keeping it at a low level, you just got your new powers after all. I'll join you in case there are any fires I need to extinguish"
Julius-"I'll head off into the woods. There are some more machines I want to work on and I don't want to clog up Lucious's house up with them anymore"
Lucious -"Alright, just make sure you clean up after yourself. I don't want some of those... machines, laying around in the middle of the forest"
Julius-"Don't worry, I would never litter. Also Joe and Damion, if you want I would like you to accompany me"
Joe-"Well, I got nothing else to do"
Damion-"Ok"
Adam-"What machines are you going to work on this time?"
Elise-"A bigger phone?"
Julius-"A bigger phone would be a tablet. But no, I'm going to be working on something I think you'll find a lot cooler"
Joe-"Well then, let's get working on it"
Damion-"I wonder what this one will be"
Julius-"It will be something extraordinary"
Julius flies down to the ground so Damion and Joe jump down after him and they begin heading off into the woods.
Lucious-"Something tells me they are going to leave a mess after this"
Adam-"It'll be fine. If they do damage anything, Julius will be able to repair it."
Lucious -"From what I can tell, he has quite the wide range of skills. I don't know anybody else that could create those machines he made last night"
Elise-"Those machines will be nothing in comparison to what we'll be able to do"
Marigold-"Well since I finished up all of the evolutions that I could, I suppose I'll be off now"
Marigold turns to return to her house.
Lucious -"Actually I was hoping you could come with us. That way you can see how powerful the new evolved skills you gave them are"
Marigold-"Oh. Alright then"
Adam-"Well let's go test these new skills out, lead the way Lucious"
Adam, Elise, and Marigold follow behind Lucious to head to the open clearing. The group walks across a bridge to some stairs to walk down to the ground. The group then walks out into the woods in the opposite direction from where Julius's group went.
Elise-"How strong do you think we'll be with these new skills?"
Marigold-"It varies. But at the very least you should be far more powerful than you were before"
Adam-"I bet we'll be strong enough to defeat that arrogant prince"
Marigold-"A prince?"
Elise-"Prince Magnus, he was a really rude guy from the kingdom we were just at"
Marigold-"Do you mean Prince Magnus Illumis?"
Adam-"Yeah, so you know him?"
Marigold-"He actually came here to receive an evolved skill a couple years ago"
Elise-"So you're the one who gave him the evolved skill, the one that let him absorb energy?"
Marigold-"Yes, I'm surprised you know what his evolved skill does though"
Adam-"He used it against Julius in their fight"
Marigold-"Julius fought against Prince Magnus!?"
Luscious-"Last night they were telling me about how Julius fought against Prince Magnus in the sky. Supposedly Julius made some giant explosion high up in the clouds and that's when Prince Magnus used his evolved skill"
Marigold-"You're telling me that Julius was so powerful that Prince Magnus had to use his evolved skill, and that Julius still survived"
Adam-"Well Julius said he spent the whole fight dodging Magnus's attacks. The only reason he survived was because at the end Prince Magnus got knocked out by Sir Atlas from the guild"
Marigold-"Sir Atlas really!? You lot have had quite the incredible past few days"
Elise-"It really is shocking that Julius wasn't able to get an evolved skill"
Marigold-"Yes, it is strange"
Marigold(in her head)-"I would never have expected Julius to be that powerful. When I was in the skill evolution process he didn't seem as powerful as they say. He was powerful enough to receive an evolved skill but-"
Lucious - (in Marigold's mind)-"But you wouldn't do that right"
Marigold opens her eyes wide in shock.
Marigold(in her head)-"Of course not sir"
Lucious - (in Marigolds mind)-"Now you understand why I couldn't let you give him the evolved skill. Julius is a threat. Him and that curseborn Damion need to be removed"
Marigold(in her head)-"Why not just use your magic on Julius and Damion like you did with the others?"
Lucious - (in Marigold's mind)-"As you should already be aware, my magic won't work on holy magic users like you and dark magic users like Damion. And it didn't work on Julius because he didn't eat that chocolate. Plus he's unable to consume food so I have no other way of using my magic on him"
Marigold(in her head)-"Are you sure there's no other way? He didn't do anything to you"
Lucious - (in Marigold's mind)-"I'm sure his machines could be very useful. But they are too much of a threat to leave around. I already take enough of a risk letting you live, don't push it"
Elise-"Are we almost there?"
Luscious-"Yes, it's just past this clearing here"
Adam-"I wonder what the others are up to"
Back to Julius, Damion, and Joe who have walked a fair distance away from the village.
Damion-"Alright so what are you making this time"
Joe-"And why do you need our help"
Julius-"I've been making stuff that already existed in my world but now it's time for something new. Do you guys want to know what a robot is?"
