Both Alyssane and Marvin stood frozen in place for a moment after hearing the knight's breathless announcement.
She could not understand the situation. The Emperor, who never left his quarters, who avoided court and royal events due to his health—what would prompt him to come so far from the palace? Why couldn't he just wait?
Marvin frowned, "Are you sure it's him?"
The knight nodded, "His Majesty wants to meet with His Highness urgently, and," he glanced at Alyssane, "With the lady as well."
She tensed up, her mind finding it hard to keep up with everything that was rapidly changing around them. The vision, the deaths, the emperor… what was going on?
Marvin also sensed her unease. He grimly nodded, dismissing the other knight, before glancing at Alyssane.
"Do you need anything?"
Alyssane pushed back her thoughts, "A bath… and some clean clothes if possible," she murmured.
