She silently finished wrapping the bandages, as the door rattled violently. Serena scoffed but did not bother saying anything further.
Just then, the door violently rattled.
The wolves refused to stop, causing the whole house to tremble. Their enraged howls drowned out all other sounds, with every claw, every brutal strike, the whole house trembled.
And then, the ancient wood splintered.
Alyssane's breath caught in her throat as the wolves' claws tore at the door, the sharp, bone-chilling sound echoing in the enclosed space.
"Why aren't they stopping…?" Serena whispered.
Alyssane tensely moved away from the door, but there was hardly any space. She quickly tried to think of something, 'We still have the crossbow, if we somehow―"
Her thoughts were interrupted by a tremendous shaking of the walls that caused dust and debris to crumble down.
