The last echo of her memories clung to her like a shroud as everything else faded.
Alyssane woke up with a bitter aftertaste lingering on her tongue. An entangled web of secrets and half-truths seemed to endlessly stretch in front of her, and she was weary from chasing answers. Every revelation only made things more confusing, plunging her deeper into the darkness.
She wanted to understand, but now it was her soul that was exhausted.
Dread coiled in her stomach, 'So many things feel wrong.'
Just then, a sharp knock shattered the silence. Alyssane moved away from the door with a start before slowly opening it. There was a maid outside whose face could not be seen because of a stack of colorful boxes.
"Good morning," Seraphina greeted with a small smile, "Did you sleep well, Alyssane?"
