Chapter 5 - She wasn't Mine.

I shuffled on my feet as I stood near the entrance of a hotel. A part if me hoped this wasn't something relational. I would never be left alone if everyone saw me here.

Why was I here?

"Right this way Ms. White, your coworkers will meet up with you later this week," the man called, grabbing my bags from my hand.

My mouth opened to say something but he was already several feet ahead. I didn't pack vacation clothes.

"What's your name?" I asked, finally catching up to him. We were in an elevator, going to floor ten.

"Carter, Carter Brentford," He said, not sparing me a glance. His features were serious, not conversational at all.

"Its nice to meet you Carter, I don't think we were properly introduced earlier; you know, before my kidnapping," I tried to joke. But I still sounded nervous.

A chuckle erupted, disturbing the silence. I smiled a little and folded my fingers.

"I wished I could say it was my first time, but I'm rooting for you," Cater said, sparing me a glance.

I frowned, "what does that mean?"

"You're smart, you'll figure it out," he said back. When the elevator dinged, his face returned back to serious. He walked out first, and I followed after.

***

I sighed heavily as I sat my things down, my feet moving in its own accord. I plopped myself down, burying my face into the pillows.

" This is your room Ms. White," I heard a familiar voice call. It almost sounded like Carter, but wasn't he with my Father?

Ms. White.

I sat up with a jerk and rushed to the door, I quickly opened it, but the hall was empty. As if no one was there. I scratched my head, I must be tired.

I had about a week before the rest would get here...until she was here. I shook my head; as I did many times this week to expel Ms.white from my head.

I shook off my suit jacket and untied my cuffs. My shoes came off next, and I felt a wave of tiredness. I laid back on the bed and closed my eyes.

Finally rest.

***

I stood in my room, looking around. It seemed to be a master room.

So many things were changing, how can I keep up? I was used to being in the back, I was used to going unseen.

Now, it feels as if everyone knew who I was in a matter of months.

I set down my purse on a nearby desk. I bent down to take off my heels. Make a sound of relief as I rubber my feet. I looked around, feeling small. I felt as if I would wake up, and all of this would be a dream.

I dropped my feet and laid down on the bed; Its plush covers forming my back. I sighed, feeling my body began to relax.

Finally, peace.

***

I jerked awake at the sudden knock at the door. I groaned and sat up, my back aching from sleeping in the wrong position.

I looked cover at the lightup clock, it was five pm. I frowned and stood to answer the door.

"Sir, a letter from your Father," The room service called, and of course is was a female. I sighed, ignoring the woman's flirtatious gaze. I closed the door and flicked on the lights.

I ripped open the letter, and took out a little sticky note. I pursed my lips, it was just like my Father.

Enjoy Your Stay ;)

Huh? What did this mean. What was my Father up to? I put the sticky note on the desk and headed to take a shower, I needed to eat soon and I didn't want to be in my flight clothes still.

***

A knock disturbed my light sleep, I tiredly sat up and shuffled my way to the door, it was a female server? I blinked a couple more time, oh, it was room service.

I frowned, I didn't order anything. The woman looked me up and down, returning my frown.

"A note from Mr. Donovan," she finally said, roughly placing the letter in my hand before walking away.

I looked down at the letter, he knew I was coming? Was this some kind of lure?

I shut the door, turning in the light. When I could see clearly, I ripped the seal and pulled out a sticky note.

Glade to see you made it, become well Acquainted with your neighbor! ;)- Mr. Donovan (Louis Father).

I paled, was he trying to set me up with his son! I shook the note off my finger, and gulped, looking at the connecting door.

Mr. Donovan was my neighbor?

I frowned, moving to sit down; I felt lightheaded.

This wasn't happening to me.

"What am I going to do?" I breath out lowly.

***

I stepped out of my room, feeling refreshed. I shuffled my key into my jean pocket. I turned to walk down the hall but ended up bumping into someone.

"Oh! I'm sor-" I started, but recognized the top of the head. I grabbed the women's shoulders and held her back to see her face.

"Ms. White?" I frowned, but my heart was elated.

She sheepishly looked up at me,"So much for avoiding you."

My heart sank, "why would you do that?" I frowned. Wanting to know if she had someone else.

"You don't know?" She frowned, her brown eyes captivating me. Shook my head no, what was she talking about?

"Your father is trying to set us up, he sent me a note saying 'get well acquainted with you neighbor!' Smile winky face!" She huffed, her cheeks turning red.

I closed my eyes, and shook my head, "once again, I'm causing you trouble."

"Not you, just those around you," she sighed, looking down at my hands. As if realizing I was still holding her.

I dropped my hands, feeling warm in the face,"sorry."

She blinked, but shook her head, "no worries."

"So, your trying to avoid me because of my father, not because of me?" I asked, wanting to confirm.

She nodded, looking down the hall.

She was more attractive then the last time I saw her. Her hair was down, and she look normal in her attire, make her seem more relaxed, and less nervous.

"Are you going to eat?" I asked, putting my hands into my jean pockets.

"Yeah, just a snack or something. But this place seems really expensive," she frowned, meeting my gaze.

"Let me treat you to a meal, look at as my way of apologizing," I said, keep my gaze steady.

She raised her hands, and shook her head, "if I'm caught with you, I won't ever live a normal life again. Sorry Mr. Donovan."

"Well, enjoy your stay then," I said, walking passed her. Her perfume filled my nose, making me want to keep her close.

But she wasn't mine.
