Chapter 2 - Chapter 2- Officially Attending

After my sparing match with . . . Ko. I think that was his name. The man who had met me outside, found me outside my locker and formally introduced himself as " Jack Coldren" I didn't get to meet the principle as he had already left. Jack called some people in to help Ko to his feet and stop his weeping, they led him outside and that was the last I saw of him.

Jack told me to gather my stuff and led me to the other side of the main school building which I couldn't see before. Leading me down a path surrounded by well kept grass and shrubs, I saw a multistory building in a circular form.

" That's the dorms. I'm sure you know this but once you are accepted into this school you can't leave with out direct permission from the principle or myself. So you'll stay here, we'll provide everything you need to survive."

Their was a main entrance to the building which led to a lobby. Jack talked to the girl behind the counter and led me up a set of stairs to the third floor. We walked along a balcony passing a multitude of other students dorms all with numbers. We were in the 400 and their were still 4 more floors above me, looking down, the building wrapped around a court yard with benches and open space. The bottom most level seemed to be mostly shops of some kind.

" This is your room." Number 467. " It's all yours. Lucky for you, you won't have to share with anyone. He reached in his pocket and took out a silver key with my room number on it. " Don't lose this. . . Replacements are expensive." He said that like it was a threat. Weird.

Slotting in the key I twisted the door nob open. The room was a decent size and had a nice hardwood floor leading past the entrance leading into a kitchen on the left. On the right was a nice living room were the hard wood bled into a soft grey carpet, it had a single coffee table and a T.V. about 40 inches it looked like. Nicest one I had personally ever seen.

" Get situated. Your first day of classes start tomorrow. I'll mail you your schedule later." He turned around and headed out the door. He began to close it before stopping turning his head to face me. " You are now officially attending." He shot me a smile out the corner of his mouth. " Don't be late." His voice vanished as the door closed.

Ha. this place is a dorm room. It's nicer than my parents house. . . Holy shit my bedrooms huge, and I have a master bathroom attached to it. Did they give me the wrong room. . . We'll since I don't got anything till tomorrow I guess I'll spend the rest of my time training, maybe check out some of those shops and go to bed.

" Beep! Beep, Be-" Shut up already I'm up. . . First day, let's get to it. Jack shipped me the school uniform along with the schedule shortly after he left. The uniform was the same as that kid Ko had been wearing when we sparred. It was all black with a button keeping the shirt together at the neck. It had longs sleeves and the material for both the pants and shirt was vary flexible, guess that kid has no excuses for loosing to me.

I left the dorms and made the short walk to school at around 7 am surrounded by all the other kids. It was crowded, I should wake up earlier to avoid them. All the kids had the same uniform except for some who had a white shirt instead of black, they were probably seniors, they looked older and gave of a presence of being superior.

I reached the main building and found my first class. The grades were all organized by floor so all of my classes would be on the first. Except for P.E witch was in a separate building. It was really awkward in their. As soon as I stepped in I had all eyes on me.

" Never seen a new student before." That was stupid to say. No they haven't, Jack said that no ones ever been excepted past the first day so of course they haven't. . . I saw and empty desk in the middle second to lasy row and decided to take it. Hopefully it's my desk or else I'm going to look stupid.

The mourning bell rang and no one asked me to move so I guess I'm okay. The only thing missing was a teacher. The door slid open and in came a girl with green hair in a double ponytail. She was apparently the teacher because she walked over and sat at the desk and took attendance.

I was lucky, My first three classes out of 8 were all for learning more about shrine powers and combat skills. Mrs. Hara, was our teachers name. She didn't even seem to acknowledge that I was new and picked up right from the where she had apparently left off.

Her class was about increasing your total shrine energy. Every person who is gifted the power of a shrine is given shrine energy or power. This can be increased but everyone has a maximum amount of energy they can use until it physically damages a parsons body. The only way to safely brake this rule is to use shrine purification.

" What exactly is shrine purification?" A girl in the front asked. Without raising her hand by the way. Guess we don't do that here.

" Shrine purification is like the trap card every shrine user has. It is the ultimate move." She spoke like she hadn't slept in days. She stood still in the center of the room while writing some notes on the board which every student took including me. " When used, you will manifest your shrine. . . Actually not really. It's complicated. It's kind of their and kind of not, the only ones who can see it are yourself, anyone you touch while manifesting it, and your target." Even though she's the teacher, she even looked a bit confused when trying to describe what it does.

From my own knowledge of using it, shrine purification allows a person for as long as the shrine is manifested, to surpass any limits. Also giving a the person using it multiple physical buffs. . . The biggest thing though, is that most give you a one time attack that is extremely powerful. Like when Ko used his on me and the floor burst into flame. That would kill most people, the only way to avoid being affected by shrine purification is one. If you have enough energy to protect your body from an attack. Two if you have shrine purification.. That was how I beat Ko.

" Can we all obtain shrine purification." The boy directly behind the girl asked, also not raising his hand.

" Yes, any one with a shrine can obtain it. It takes lot's of practice though, Which this school provides you children starting later this year. You've got a while before you can even consider using shrine purification." I couldn't help but smile big. The kids in this classroom were all first years, some of them just learning about shrine purification. While I had already obtained mine and used it to get into this school.

" What are you smiling about back their. . . Sho. that's your name right." Oh. she noticed. I guess I have no choice but to brag a little.

". . . I've already obtained it." There was silence. Every pair of eyes were on me, the expressions told me they didn't believe me one bit.

" Really." The teacher didn't believe me. I guess they shouldn't. I mean a first year on his first day already has shrine purification is crazy. Guess I'll have to prove it.

" Want me to prove it." All the kids eyes widened a bit looking back at their teacher who held the same blank expression.

" No, Sho, we don't." I still don't think she believes me, but some of the students do now. I can see it their faces. Their were some whispering about me asking others if they really think I could. I'll show them some time.

First period passed and I went to second period. It was taught by a taller older man. Around 50 ish. Looking at him though gave me the impression that in his hay day he was unstoppable. He had scars on his face and he was still decently buff for a old man. He wore a short sleeve shirt and blue jeans. Guess the teachers don't have a dress code, kind of unfair. He teaches us about kakugan and what they are and their uses. Pretty much their just pure shrine energy and are formed to perfectly fit the users style.

Third period was suppose to teach us about how to learn shrine abilities, but apparently even this schools teachers have sick days. Didn't matter to me I already had obtained most of mine. To bad I didn't get to use them on Ko.

" Hey. You the kid who claims he has obtained shrine purification." Behind me a guy with black hair with long bags draped in front spoke to me. . . Kid?

" Yea. It's Sho." I sounded agitated when I spoke, well I kind of was I guess. " I have obtained it. So you know."

" Calm down. I wasn't trying to disrespect you. I actually believe you." Really. I turned to face him, he had blue eyes and a round face which honestly made him look even younger than 15. " I'm Zaldo Megu." Interesting name. I was in the second to last row again on the the left side of the class room. Zaldo was directly behind me. " On my right here. Is Ayls Iriel."

" Huh!?" The girl on his right jumped a little in shock as Zaldo introduced her to me himself. " Why are you introducing me to people without my permission." Her voice was a bit timid but strong at the same time, like she was hiding it. She had strange long blue hair that couldn't be natural.

" You need friends!" Zaldo smirked teasing her. Ayls whipped her head around to face him causing her hair to lift reveling her ears which were . . . pointed.

" If he wanted he would of asked me for my name. It's rude to just go forcing people to be friends."

" Your an elf." They immediately stopped talking and faced me. Kind of rude of me to just blurt that out. " Sorry." Elves were a race of . . . creature? That's what people say but she looks like a person to me. There apparently aren't vary many of them left, most died during a civil war between elves and humans a couple hundred thousand years ago when these powers were first discovered, it ended in their defeat. Killing most of them, I had never seen one before.

" . . . I'm half elf half human. My moms the elf." She sounded like she was embarrassed to speak of it. Like it was a bad thing. I don't no why it would be. " Most elves would have bigger ears but since I'm half human their small. So I'm surprised you found out so quickly."

". . . Sorry. If you want me to forget it I can." She seemed like she didn't want people to know.

" No. It's fine. . . Just most people see elves as weird creatures. So I try and hide that fact." Really. Why would people think that, seems wrong.

" Hence why she has no friends."

" Ah. Shut up." Well they seem like friends. Or maybe brother and sister. They get along in a sibling rivalry way.

"Oh. I've known her since I was a kid. That's why I'm the only one who talks to her." Childhood friends. Wait. Is he really the only one that talks to her.

The bell signaling next period cut off our conversation. We all rose and grabbed our bags getting ready to head to the next class.

" Well, we'll se you around Sho." Zaldo waved as he walked out the room turning the opposite direction of me for his next class. Alys followed and said nothing on her way past me.

" Yea." Well guess I've made two friends at least. . . Something feels off, why would people avoid Alys. . . Ah, two much to think about. Dam! I got math next to.

All my other classes were just normal subjects and were a drag to get through, but I did and finally made it to the end of my first day. On the brick path walking past the combat arena I heard someone sparring. the door was open, I have to see who it was.

Looking in I saw two guys in the senior uniforms sparring. The one had his Kakugan out and the other was bare hand. Did his break, man he's finished then. The senior with his Kakugan out had long jet black hair which was tied up in a bun. the other had short red hair and seemed a bit more muscular.

Long hair raised his Kakugan and went for a finishing blow. The other one took a step to the left and stuck his palm on the blade. " CRANG" The hell. On contact the Kakugan shattered. Following up, the short haired on threw a heal kick landing on long hairs chin. Long hair went flying rolling to a stop on the other side of the arena. The fight was decided. How the hell did he do that, with his bare hand. I guess these seniors are the real deal.

Just then the standing one looked at me. We locked eyes and he gave me a smirk before I walked off. This school, had all types of people in it, elves, humans, long hair or short hair. all with different strengths and weaknesses. One thing was consistent among every one though. they were all incredibly strong.
