"It seems to me you've now gotten an idea of who it might be right?" Inspector Kodua asked calmly after detecting Mr. Joe's conflicted emotion.
"Yes, maybe." Mr. Joe answered after he had been interrupted from his thought process by Inspector Kodua's sudden question.
"Good. Now be honest with me. Who might it be? Inspector Kodua gazed straight into his eyes as he asked the question.
Unable to reciprocate the same energy, Mr. Joe tilted his head away as he answered, "He's just a friend of mine."
"Just a friend? Then I think something serious might have happened for him to call you continuously despite you not calling." Inspector Koua held and pulled Mr. Joe's head towards his face as he looked into his eyes and muttered, "Tell me the truth. I hate dragging out an interrogation."
"I'm telling you the truth. I've got no idea of what it might be." Feeling the cold chill emitting from the man before him, Mr. Joe dared not lie.
It should be known that as a highly skilled assassin, he has fought dangerous people and taken countless lives across the world.
However, none of those that he came in contact with gave him the feeling of death as compared to the Inspector before him. He felt as if he was standing before the angel of death.
Currently, the feeling he was getting from the inspector was completely different from his first impression of him. It was as if they were two different people.
"You say so because you know well that he's more than a friend right? Inspector Kodua grinned as he let go of Mr. Joe's head. From the short moment where Mr. Joe expressed his anxiousness when he was shown the numbers, he got exposed, as Inspector Kodua saw through it.
So, even though Mr. Joe was telling the truth now, he knew he was speaking about the reason the other person was calling him but not because he had no idea who might be the one calling.
" Now, listen carefully to what I'm about to tell you. After that, you can decide on what to do with it." Inspector Kodua said in a deep tone.
Mr. Joe upon hearing the words spoken by the demon before him, nodded his head in confirmation.
"Now listen. Someone of a higher status probably within the political spectrum hired you to assassinate the sergeant.
However, it has been days and he's yet to receive an answer from you so he is now trying to reach out to you to confirm whether the job has been done or not.
Now, it's all up to you to decide whether you want a maximum sentence or a reduced sentence. You know what to do."
After saying so, Inspector Kodua stood up from his seat and made his way out of the interrogation room with his team.
After getting out of the room, LC Jude approached Inspector Kodua and asked, "But team leader, why did you tell him everything? That's surely an advantage to him you know."
He couldn't understand why Inspector Kodua who is always calm and clear-headed in every situation would make such a rush decision as to disclose such intelligence to the very person that he was interrogating.
"I know you are confused but don't worry this interrogation is done." Inspector Kodua assured them when he saw their restless and confused expressions.
"It's done?! But how?"
