"Team leader, I'm sorry. It wasn't my int...." Even after coming back to his senses, LC Jude continued pleading. He was afraid his team leader would blame him for the accident.
"Yes, I know. You didn't mean it, right? Inspector Kodua interrupted. His tone was dignified with no trace of anger or irritation.
"Yeh!" LC Jude nodded his head in affirmation. He had no idea what his team leader was getting at.
"Talk to me. What happened?" Inspector Kodua asked again for the third time after Jude's emotions had died down.
"The car suddenly started overheating and the steering was getting out of my control so at that instance, I had no option than to forcefully step on the break at once and, and....." With tears threatening to fall at any moment, LC Jude spoke with his head lowered. He couldn't even embrace himself to complete his sentence.
"The car suddenly started overheating?" Inspector Kodua muttered to himself while pondering.
Suddenly, he asked, "Did you fill its water tank?"
"Its water tank?" LC Jude muttered while looking in Sergeant Robert's direction.
He then replied, "No, I thought it was already filled."
"Damn it! You thought it was already filled? Whom were you expecting to fill it? Sergeant Robert shouted angrily. He was on the verge of going insane. _How could one be so brain-dead?_ He asked himself.
Even amateur drivers wouldn't make this level of mistake. Not to talk of someone with a B license.
" Shut up!" Inspector Kodua shouted angrily at Sergeant Robert. With cold eyes, he questioned him. "Didn't I ask you to check the water and, fuel levels of the cars we were traveling in with?
" But inspector," Sergeant Robert tried to justify himself, however, he was scolded before he even had the chance to utter a single word.
"LC Jude, it's alright. This should serve as a lesson to you. Never trust others with things that could cost you your life. No matter who that person may be."
"Thank you, team leader, I'll always bear that in mind." LC Jude bowed as he gave appreciation to his team leader's words.
"Good. I'll call a mechanic to fix it. Join me in my car. We will travel with mine. " Inspector Kodua said as he retrieved his mobile phone from his pocket and dialed a number.
_Let's see how long you can continue to protect him. Hmph!" After seeing the exchange between the two, Sergeant Robert was so angry that hot steam seemed to be blowing from his head.
He looked like he would spit blood at any moment. He had always felt that the team leader looked down on him, but today, he had been enlightened to the fact that not only had the team leader been looking down on him but he also saw him as inferior to his junior.
"Sergeant Robert, how long will it take us to arrive at our destination? Inspector Kodua asked.
"Suppressing his anger, Sergeant Robert replied after checking the map and estimated travel time on his mobile phone. " 30 minutes to the next city, Nkawkaw, and about an hour and 30 minutes to Oframasi, traveling with our current speed.
"Good! Let's go then. We've got to arrive there before the sun rises. Inspector Kodua said while taking a look at his watch.
" Let's go."
"Vroom!!" With anger, Sergeant Robert went into his car without another word and sped off without a trail.
"LC Jude also made his way to Inspector Kodua's car and they took off following their GPS map.

" What? Can you repeat that?"
" Is he a Swat officer?
