Waking up to the sounds of the ocean, I look around confused.
"Where am I?"
I mutter to myself, questioning how I got here.
The last thing I remembered was watching YouTube shorts just as I was about to sleep, then waking up on this beach.
"I feel sick..."
I said as I felt my body, slightly sticky and hair feeling stiff from dried ocean water. Sand made its way inside my clothes, further amplifying the discomfort.
I stand up and try to shake off the sand, a few remain on my clothes but I ignore it. I had more pressing matters to attend.
The beach was clean, not a piece of litter in sight. It was beautiful to look at, but not that great of a news for as that probably meant that no human activity was nearby.
No matter how clean a beach was from the constant cleaning efforts of the community, some kind of litter would still manage to find its way in the sand. But not here.
Aside from the beach, the surrounding was full of coconut palm trees and other trees I don't recognise. At least I wouldn't starve I thought, If I somehow managed to learn how to climb a tree.
"Something I'll have to manage..."
I muttered, looking at the tall fruit trees.
Another sign that no humans are around are the unmarked coconut palm trees. Especially one so tall and full of fruit.
Where I lived almost all coconut palm trees would have carved-in footholds made by a sharp blade for easier access to climb.
No sign of that here.
I look around and find a sharp rock, I pick it up and think to myself.
"How am I this composed? Not that I'm complaining..."
I thought, finding it weird how calm I was. I wasn't the observer type that could stay calm in any situation and glean information effectively.
I was the guy who talked too much to finish a conversation earlier out of nervousness. I was a coward.
"Yet now I don't feel a shred of fear at all. It's strange..."
I said as I held the rock and found a nearby green coconut, pointing the sharp end at the fruit and hitting the flat back end with another rock.
The rock carved its way into the coconut fiber exposing the hard shell. I carve it a few more times to fully reveal it.
I place the fiber beside me as I needed it for fire.
Looking again at the bare coconut fruit, I grab and shake it a few times and hear a sloshing sound.
"It feels heavy too, good..."
Feeling slightly thirsty due to the physical activity, I got even more determined to open the fruit.
I once again use the chisel-like stone and manage to make a small crack on the fruit.
Making sure to not spill it, I grab the fruit with both hands and place the crack on my mouth.
Slurp Slurp
I slurp the juices greedily, tasting the sweet coconut water, feeling it rehydrate my tired body.
"Puah!~..."
I sigh in contentment, carefully putting the juiceless coconut fruit beside the fibers as there were still coconut meat inside it. That would be my lunch or dinner for the day.
Looking at the sea I feel strangely excited. No college exams or project deadlines, awkward socialising and peer pressure. And strangely no fear, how convenient!
This might just be my lucky break.
