"This is everything that's happened up until you showed up in here," Kaminari said while looking at the hospital ceiling.
"I'm really sorry to hear that... But that Watcher person seems weird. You're the only one who has seen him so far?" Yamikuro was curious and confused.
"Some of them think I'm crazy, but I swear that person exists, and I'm just as confused as you," Kaminari responded.
"I see. Do you think there's a chance he's from another world or something?" Yamikuro said as he turned towards Kaminari.
"Where's that coming from? I mean, there's a possibility because there's no way someone could possess these kinds of powers," Kaminari glanced back at Yamikuro.
"I fought against someone who declared himself a god, so there's definitely life outside of this world. He used some kind of orbs to fight, which no one in here can do, I assume," Yamikuro tried to remember that day. Although it happened not too long ago, he still had problems remembering the details of it.
"So we've both seen some crazy things others here haven't, huh. I wonder if The Watcher was also a god," Kaminari got curious.
"I thought you'd have a bigger reaction to this, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was a god," Yamikuro said in a tired voice.
"You didn't have a reaction to The Watcher either, and we're both stuck on these hospital beds talking about these things late at night, so I don't have energy for that," Kaminari replied after closing his eyes.
"You're right," Yamikuro noticed that Kaminari was ready to fall asleep. "Well, good night."
"Yeah," Kaminari replied.
They slept through the night and morning peacefully, waking up at noon. After lying there for some time, they got visitors.
"How are you doing?" Isabella came through the door, followed by Deia and Cedar.
"Been better," Kaminari tried to sit up on his bed.
"I hope you won't have to be here for too long, the exams start soon," Cedar reminded them.
"I completely forgot about that. Will I be able to take part in them with my powers?" Yamikuro asked.
"I'm not sure, actually. We've never had something like this happen," Isabella admitted.
"Well, I know you'll be able to take part in the exams," someone said from behind Isabella, Cedar, and Deia.
"Kazuhiko!" Yamikuro was surprised.
"How are you able to be in here? Don't you have work to do?" Kaminari asked.
"Not currently, so I decided to come by. How are you all doing?" Kazuhiko replied.
"I was just about to tell Yamikuro about that book," Isabella mentioned.
"The book on the darkness, huh. It's weird how we found it, but our librarian, Theodore, thought it was best if the person who it was intended for read it himself," Kazuhiko said.
"Wasn't it just lying on the ground randomly?" Deia pointed out.
"Exactly. That's what was so weird about that," Isabella agreed.
"What do you mean there's a book intended for me?" Yamikuro had forgotten that someone mentioned it.
"We went too fast. Just check out the library when you're feeling better. You'll most likely learn a lot from there," Kazuhiko suggested.
"Anyway... I think it's best if we let Yamikuro and Kaminari rest for now," Kazuhiko then said.
"No, it's fine. We need some company anyway," Kaminari protested lightly.
"It's gotten very boring here," Yamikuro added.
They spent the next few hours talking with each other and getting to know Yamikuro better. Kazuhiko had to leave half an hour after coming to the hospital due to work.
"Well, it's time to go," Cedar announced and stood up.
"You're right, we still have homework to do," Isabella sighed.
"Goodbye, Yamikuro and Kaminari," Deia said.
"Bye," they both said at the same time.
The next two weeks went by the same until they were finally released from the hospital.
"Finally!" Kaminari took a breath of fresh air after walking out of the hospital building.
"Now we can also get ready for the exam, but first I'll have to go pay a visit to the library," Yamikuro mentioned.
"We're coming with you," Kaminari said.
"Oh yeah, my bad," Yamikuro started laughing a little.
"I can see the others in the distance," Kaminari pointed out after they were walking for some time.
"Hi!" Isabella yelled and waved at them as they got closer.
"Hello," Yamikuro said.
"So what are we going to do now?" Cedar asked.
"Going to the library, right?" Deia said in a shy voice.
"That's what I've been waiting for the most. I have no idea how to get stronger," Yamikuro said.
"Well, let's go. We can take it easy today by going back to our dorm and relaxing after that," Kaminari said and started to walk.
They began walking towards the library, and as they were going inside, someone stopped them.
"Excuse me," the person said from their right.
"Yes?" Isabella turned to the person.
The person was a girl who had glasses on and brunette hair reaching her shoulders.
"My name is Elara. I'm new here and I'm kind of lost," she said.
"The place you want to be is right around there," Isabella started pointing.
"Maybe she can just come with us for now, and she can later follow us because we're going there anyway," Cedar said.
"That's fine with me," Elara replied.
"Sounds great, the library is this building right in front of us," Isabella said.
They opened the door and entered the library. It looked ancient, with tall shelves filled with books, and on the other side, they saw an old man sitting behind the counter.
"Hello?" Yamikuro tried to get his attention.
The old man looked up to see who entered, and he had a warm smile on his face. "Hello, what are you looking for?"
"The books on Darkness," Yamikuro said.
The old man's face widened. "Darkness? Who exactly are you?"
"I'm Yamikuro Asaki. I have the darkness powers," he replied.
"Darkness wielder, you've come at last... My name's Theodore. It's a pleasure to finally meet you," the old man got excited.
"Pleasure is all mine," Yamikuro smiled.
"I've kept the book safe in the basement of this library, and only I can get inside," Theodore said as he stood up and started walking towards the passage to the basement.
Yamikuro went first, and the others followed after him. They went down to the basement, and there was a table with a book on it in the middle of the room.
"Are you ready to hear what's written on here?" Theodore asked as he opened the book.
"I'm ready," Yamikuro replied.
Theodore coughed and started reading. "On the night where hope is taken away, the miracle shall eventually enter the depths of darkness and follow the path of fate that has been set for it since the beginning by a curse that has been locked away by the ones above."
"What is this supposed to mean?" Yamikuro was confused.
"I'm not sure myself, but this seems to be a prophecy. I'm not sure if it's about you, though," Theodore replied.
"Is the entire book filled with these prophecies?" Kaminari asked and looked at the book trying to see how thick the book was.
"No, most of the book is on how to use the darkness," Theodore replied.
"What? You mean I can actually learn how to use my powers now?!" Yamikuro got excited.
"It seems so. I'll give you this book after we're done," Theodore smiled.
"What are the other prophecies like?" Isabella was curious.
"Let's see..." Theodore turned the page. "Wherever there's light, shadows will follow. A light source is able to show the way through a dark room, but not always cast away the shadows around it. Eventually, that light will go out, and in the end, the darkness will come victorious."
"This is even more confusing," Cedar said while scratching his head.
"I'm not sure that I understand anything that's happening right now," Elara mentioned.
"I'm sure it isn't supposed to make sense. I just wanted to read it out loud for all of you to keep in mind in case some of these things start making sense," Theodore said while closing the book and handing it to Yamikuro.
"Thank you," Yamikuro grabbed the book.
"These were mostly about darkness, which I assume were meant for Yamikuro," Kaminari remarked.
"Well, thank you for everything," Isabella thanked Theodore.
"You're welcome. Also, Yamikuro... Please use this book to become powerful. I have a bad feeling about all of this, whoever wrote these things knows too much," Theodore warned.
"I will," Yamikuro's expression turned serious.
With that, they left the library, and Yamikuro felt hopeful for a future he may not have wanted.
