Chapter 12 - Cursed by Fate (2)

"Are you ready to begin the training?" Kazuhiko said with a smile on his face.

It was early in the morning. Deia, Kaminari, and Isabella were half awake listening to Kazuhiko talk.

"Do we have to?" Kaminari said as he sat on the ground.

"Don't give me that attitude. I'll have you know that I'm one of the best mentors here," Kazuhiko scolded Kaminari while starting to get annoyed.

Kaminari sighed and got up from the ground, "Fine... Let's train then."

Isabella and Deia exchanged glances before joining him.

Kazuhiko clapped his hands together, trying to be energetic, "Today we'll be focusing on controlling your powers. We need to make sure you'll be perfectly able to use them without losing control."

He then led them to an open area training ground, a place quite a bit away from the main part of the hideout, it was filled with various training dummies and obstacles designed to test different abilities.

"First, I want you to demonstrate what you can do," Kazuhiko instructed, "Deia, you're up first."

Deia stepped forward, her confidence slowly building up despite her confidence being very low all the time. She took a deep breath and focused on a nearby dummy. As she extended her hand, a gust of wind swirled around her fingers and launched toward the target. The dummy was knocked back, and she smiled at her success.

"Great job, Deia! That was very good!" Kazuhiko praised her, "Now, Kaminari, it's your turn."

Kaminari stepped up, he concentrated on controlling the electric powers onto his hands. He pointed his hands towards the dummy and released a bolt of electricity that hit the dummy in the head, sending it flying back.

"Nice work! But you need to release it with less power. You're almost in perfect control of your powers," Kazuhiko said to him, eyeing the scorched dummy, "At last, it's your turn Isabella."

Isabella took out her sword, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Her sword started slightly burning red-ish color and she quietly said out loud the name of her move, "Prowl

Surge."

She then swung her sword twice and two lines of fire were sent towards the dummy. It seemed to get cut just like from a sword cutting it up close but it also caught on fire slightly.

"Good job, Isabella! Keep practicing that control," Kazuhiko said, while putting out the fire with his water powers.

They continued on with the training until noon.

"I feel like that's enough for today," Kazuhiko said after seeing them get tired.

"Finally!" Kaminari yelled with excitement in his voice.

They walked back to the main part of the hideout.

"Isabella..." Deia quietly told her.

Isabella turned her head towards her, "What's up?"

She started stuttering a little, "H-how ar-are you so good with your sword?"

"Oh, I've used my sword since I was little. Why such curiosity?" She replied while smiling.

"It's just that no one around our age group is able to use so many different moves so easily." She said while looking at the ground.

"I'm so hungry!!" Kaminari yelled out of nowhere, interrupting their talk.

Kazuhiko sighed, "You'll get your food. Don't just yell like that out of nowhere."

They reached the main school building of the hideout after walking for quite some time.

"You guys can go get your food. I'll catch up with the head of the hideout." Kazuhiko said.

They split off, Kaminari, Isabella and Deia going to get food and Kazuhiko going upstairs.

As the trio made their way to the dining area, aroma of freshly prepared food hit them and Kaminari's stomach started rumbling even louder.

They entered the dining hall, grabbed their plates, and sat down at a wooden table near the corner.

Kaminari had a wide smile on his face and piled his plate full of food while Isabella and Deia took their time picking what to eat. After that they found a spot to sit down at. They sat down at a wooden table near the corner, Isabella and Deia sat across from Kaminari.

Kaminari was around halfway through his meal when he asked, "So you've been using your sword since you were a kid, huh."

"You listened to us?!" Isabella got shocked at that.

"Of course I did, I may act dumb at times but I'm a lot smarter than you think." Kaminari replied while continuing to eat.

She then nodded and her face got more serious, "But yeah... It's kind of a family thing."

Deia looked down at her plate, poking at her food, "Seeing you guys be so powerful and confident... It makes me feel like I'm holding you back."

Kaminari stopped eating and looked at her, "Hey. That is not true at all. With confidence you could definitely use your powers better but you're not holding us back."

Isabella agreed with Kaminari, "He's right you know, you're stronger than you think."

Kaminari smiled and pointed his fork at Deia, "We haven't been taught about combining our powers yet but if you want we can try and create a lighting storm or something. That's only something I can do with you, not Isabella."

Deia started giggling, "That sounds great."

"Hey, look who's sitting there!" Someone yelled from afar.

It was a person from another team called Meden Moeris, who's also able to control lighting powers.

"Kaminari, I haven't seen you around in quite some time," Meden said.

"Yeah well I've been busy," Kaminari replied.

"You better become equal to me because during the power exams I will challenge you and if you lose, you know what happens," Meden said in a serious tone and a straight face.

"I know..." Kaminari said while looking at his food.

Meden turned around, "Well anyway, I'll see you, the only trio around."

"What happens if you lose to him?" Isabella got curious.

"It's nothing. We just promised on something," Kaminari continued eating.

Isabella decided not to try push Kaminari into telling her that so they all ate in quietness.

After they were done and left the dining area, they ran into Kazuhiko.

"I was just about to look for you guys!" Kazuhiko said excitedly.

"What's up?" Kaminari asked, seeing Kazuhiko's excitement.

"We have two new members joining your team," Kazuhiko replied while looking at everyone.

"Wait, really?" Isabella asked shockingly.

"That means we have a full team now. We aren't the only non-full team around anymore," Kaminari also got excited.

"What are their names?" Isabella wanted to know.

"Let's go and wait for them to get ready." Kazuhiko said hinting towards an empty class room.

They were waiting for the new members, Kazuhiko was leaning towards the teacher's desk and the others were sitting down at desks.

Suddenly the door opened and in walked two people. Kazuhiko nodded at them and told them to come in.

After looking at everyone one of the people said, "Hi. I'm Cedar."

The other person then also decided to introduce themselves, "Hello everyone, my name's Dylan."

"I'm Kaminari, this is Isabella and this is Deia," He said while pointing at them.

"Well then. Feel free to spend time together. Get used to each other because soon we'll go on missions." Kazuhiko told them.

"Okay, sir. sounds good," Dylan said.

"You don't have to be so polite with Kazuhiko," Kaminari laughed.

"Hey! Of course he does, and so do you. I'm your teacher after all," Kazuhiko started scolding Kaminari.

"Okay... Whatever," Kaminari replied.

After no one said anything Kaminari asked: "So, um... what's your story Dylan?"

"I don't think we've ever talked but I have been living and studying in this school since I was a small kid," Dylan replied while trying to smile.

"That means you've already been in a team," Isabella pointed out.

Dylan sighed, "I just recently lost them."

"I'm sorry to hear that," Kaminari said in a sad tone.

"Okay guys, let's not talk about this until Dylan feels comfortable talking about it himself," Kazuhiko said.

The room went quiet for some time and a awkward silence was between them.

"Alright, everyone. I think it's time we get some rest and get ready for tomorrow," Kazuhiko tried to break the silence.

"What's tomorrow?" Isabella asked.

"You'll be going on your first mission," Kazuhiko looked around the room happily.

"A mission? Already? Are you sure about that?" Cedar asked worringly.

"It's fine. You won't have to fight anyone, it's just to get you guys to build your team work," Kazuhiko tried to uplift them.

"I'm cool with that," Kaminari replied, "They better not hold me back though."

"You won't have to do any fighting," Kazuhiko said with an annoyed voice.

Kazuhiko then followed it up with: "Okay that's enough, let's talk more tomorrow."

They all stood up and left the classroom, unaware of what was coming for them.
