Chapter 30 - Some Die, Others Live

 "Please, don't kill us!"

"We were forced to come here; don't hurt us."

The soldiers who could see their defenseless loved ones kneeling on the ground fell to their knees; some stepped forward to try to encourage the soldiers, who could perfectly keep fighting but were killed by an ice spear.

"Are we really going to surrender like this?" A soldier with armor different from the others didn't want to accept this, but seeing how the majority wanted to surrender, they did the same.

"They're going to kill us, you know that?"

"Shut up!"

"We've been attacking these people for years; what do you think they'll do to us when we surrender? They'll surely kill us one by one. I won't accept this."

The soldiers with different armor preferred to fight to the death, and many of them leaped forward.

Brad, who watched this, gave the signal, and several civilians were killed as a result; their heads rolled off the walls, and their bodies were thrown afterward as if they were nothing more than trash.

"Don't do it, you idiots!"

The soldiers, who had their relatives on the wall, jumped to stop the soldiers who wanted to fight. In a short time, an impressive image could be seen: soldiers of the same nation were fighting to the death among themselves.

Brad, who watched this, ordered the killings to stop, and the Water Nation fleet, which had advanced, began arresting the soldiers who had surrendered.

First, they were put in reinforced steel handcuffs so that if, for any reason, a fire-controlling warrior tried to melt the metal, they would burn in consequence.

Although firebenders could also produce fire, that doesn't mean they become vulnerable to anything containing heat, and they themselves could also be injured.

As the icebenders could die frozen, this would be the same with every element. Only then can some handle it in a special way to avoid getting hurt.

In the midst of all the chaos, everyone saw how some soldiers began to die at the hands of others, and then those who remained alive were killed if they were the ones who initiated the disturbance.

Those who only wanted to stop those who were endangering the innocents stopped and fell to their knees, while others stopped paying attention.

"Thorian predicted this when he devised the battle plan; he said the enemies are weak-hearted and definitely wouldn't withstand losing their loved ones if they were threatened with death by us. He was right; if they had attacked, we would have won, but with a bitter ending, instead, they have saved us a lot of trouble by surrendering."

Brad's words were of admiration; he, like all who had been trained by Thorian, looked at him as their own god. Many believed that General Thorian had come as a reincarnation of one of the moon spirits and was here to guide them in this war.

Fanaticism reached such a level that many didn't care about committing murders as long as it led them to victory. Unbeknownst to them, this war that had been unleashed with the thirst for revenge would turn into a massacre that would be impossible to stop.

"Where is the general?" Brad asked, wanting to know how Thorian was doing.

"We have received reports that he has returned; he was seriously injured but was healed by two healing experts, and right now, he should be in the city or on an allied island," said a soldier who had approached to report the outcome of the battle.

Brad knew that this plan would be like this: Thorian, being the most powerful, would take care of stopping the enemy fleet, giving them the necessary time to take the enemy colony.

When everyone was taken prisoner, Brad personally separated the soldiers from the raven armor. All of them would be killed after all; when the war began, they invaded the villages, besieging or capturing the waterbending masters.

"Let's go; divide those enemies into groups. Have the ones on the right behead them; the others put them under pressure," Brad said, watching as the Fire Nation soldiers descended from their cruisers.
