Chapter 72 - The Flames of War

Thorian's sword plunged into Ozai's chest, pushing him towards the fire pillars at full speed.

Like a meteorite, both fell from the sky.

Thorian had been pushing Ozai towards that fire pillar more and more. Using all his strength and channeling all his inner energy, he roared loudly as they both crossed the flames.

Arghhhhh!!!

Even if Thorian planned to hurt himself, he didn't care; he knew this was something he needed to do.

Ozai could clearly feel the burning fire hitting his back. He let out a furious roar. He was enraged, but there was nothing he could do.

Thorian gritted his teeth; his hands also began to burn, so he used ice to cover as much of his outer skin as possible and provide more protection.

Boom!

Using all his power, the ice caused an adverse effect by colliding against the heat at maximum intensity. Everyone around felt that expression and stopped fighting; the hundreds of thousands of dead on the battlefield had ceased to be taken into account in the desire to exterminate one of the two sides at this moment.

Thorian didn't know how much time had passed, but grabbing Ozai's neck, both shot out of the fire pillars.

A whistle of a meteorite fell from the sky, and suddenly two figures landed on the frozen ice, causing everyone to turn their gaze towards them.

"You're a damn demon; who granted you that power?"

Thorian got up from the ground, looked at Ozai, who had half of his body burned, and feeling his time running out, he formed an ice sword and walked towards his enemy. Taking a deep breath, he murmured, "My father Draver sends his regards. I hope you can see from beyond how I build a new empire upon your ashes and those of your ancestors."

Boom!

With a sudden impact, Ozai's body flew into a thousand pieces, causing everyone around to fall silent at such a sudden scene.

Part of Thorian's clothing had turned to ashes, so looking at everyone around him, he shouted, "My name is Thorian, and I have claimed the life of your emperor; there is nothing worth continuing to fight for, so as long as you lower your weapons in surrender, I will spare your lives."

Everyone looked around; fire, smoke, and corpses had filled the surroundings, so many really didn't want to die but knew that if they surrendered, the possibility of being killed was also very high.

But at that moment, a huge flying beast crashed onto the ice, and the awaited creature arrived on the battlefield. The highly acclaimed avatar descended like a furious comet and shouted, "Stop this battle right now. With your ruler fallen, it's time for you to stop."

Thorian, who saw this and felt a deep emptiness, returned, took his sword, and shouted, "Anyone who doesn't surrender will die; that's how it will be, and I promise that will be fulfilled."

All the soldiers standing beside Thorian looked at him and prepared for the attack, still waiting to see if these enemies would surrender or not.

But as an unexpected result after having been fighting non-stop, many fell to their knees; everyone had actually stopped knowing why they were dying and, most importantly, why they were fighting.

Now that their ruler was dead, everyone had stopped fighting; they all surrendered, and seeing this, Thorian returned step by step, completely ignoring the wounds on his body.

"Thorian..."

Ignoring that voice near him, Thorian didn't feel any better, and knowing this, he just wanted to rest. "I leave the rest to you; declare the victory."

These last words were murmured by Thorian before he fell to the ground exhausted. The multiple wounds had accumulated on his body, and now that the war was about to be won, he just wanted to rest.

Remembering his mother's words, Thorian felt at peace.

"In the freshness of spring, the thirst for justice fades, while hope blooms in every bud."

"Under the warm sun of summer, forgiveness and love shine brightly, dispelling the shadows of resentment and revenge."

"In the autumn of life, we let destiny and justice take their course, while we cultivate compassion and peace in our hearts."

"And in winter, forgiveness becomes a warm cloak that embraces the soul, reminding us that love is the only path to true redemption."

Everyone needed to recover from this war, and sadly, some will live with the pain for a good part of their lives.
