The year 2024, humanity stood at its peak of power. Nothing could stop the advancement of technology and the digital world's rapid growth, or so it seemed.
That, was 20 years ago. On February 29, 2024, time came to a stop.
9:00 p.m. The sun "stopped" shining. For the first time, the entire earth was plunged into eternal night
10:00 p.m. Several cases of power outage incidents were reported on a national scale.
11:00 p.m. Signal to every satellite was cut off.
11:59 p.m. A panel appears in front of everyone. "The final stand begins in 60… 59… 58…"
March 1, 12:00 a.m. Doomsday began.
From the sky, portals the size of cities opened and countless beings descended. On that day, the battle began. Two external forces, the demons and angels, fought to gain control of humanity. To them, Earth was food to consume, a resource that could be taken at any time.
Both sides were equally as cruel, some tortured humans, and others possessed humans as their avatars. Cities were massacred and survivors were taken as slaves for manual labour or breeding pods. Humanity was on the brink of destruction.
However, humans gained the ability to awaken. Although not particularly skilled in any one aspect, humans excelled in reproduction. Their ability to awaken new abilities of any kind caused many prominent heroes to rise up and even threaten the angels and demons.
As the light in the darkness, the saviour of humanity, and a ranked Demon King. That is who I was.
Daril Dagonet was my name. As the one who was blessed by the system, I was destined to lead humanity. Since the moment I was awakened, I had had the upper hand over any demon, angel, or human. This was because of my awakened blessing "The Destined One".
The Destined One was not an ability, rather, it was given to me when I awakened. The description was simple, providing a significant buff to all my stats exponentially. However, the importance was not in the stats but in the hidden effect:
"One who changes the fate of a race"
Yes, with this power, I could single-handedly save humanity. I was the only hope, someone that all humans had to serve.
Yet, I was met with betrayal.
