Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: Greatness, Glory, Power, and Magnificence

289 AC

Skagos, The North

(Before the Battle of Fair Isle)

Rhaegar Targaryen

It has been a month on the sea since I left Dragonstone that I finally reached Skagos, it was a rough journey but I made it through. I left a few days before word came to Dragonstone about the Greyjoy Rebellion, I was more than ready and I had already given instructions to Richard, Gerold, and Jon on what to do.

I took ten dromonds, Arthur, Oswell, two hundred Royal guards, and a certain Melisandre of Asshai with me on this trip, both Arthur and Oswell were confused by my decision but I assured them that everything would be fine and all they needed was faith and they would see the greatest miracle in all of history if you call waking up an old, mean and tough fire breathing lizard a miracle that is.

Okay, It might be.

Thank God, these guys are loyal to a fault.

After making landfall, I met with the Lords of Skagos, the Magnar, the Crowl, and the Stane, they are by far the most backward, underdeveloped, savage, and isolated people in all of Westeros but thankfully they know that House Targaryen rules Westeros and the presence of so many well-armed Royal Guards and the dromonds in the sea did dissuade them from any funny business.

This Island is a Mecca for Stone Quarries, I mean like if the weather was nicer and the seas smoother and the people more progressive, I am pretty sure that this place would have rocked it, figuratively and I mean I can literally make at least ten Harrenhals from all the stone in this place and still have enough leftover, it will take a lot of investment but it is possible. Hopefully, after the Long Night, the weather will improve.

The Lords were not happy with me, showing up out of nowhere to interrupt their solitude.

"Why are you here, Dragon King?" The Magnar asks me, at least that's what I think he is asking me because his accent is way too gruff, I thought that Ned's accent was gruff I think that he might be the most refined person in the North. The Magnar is not happy with me while the other two look on with undisguised hostility.

We are standing on one of the many cliffs of Skagos, and the Lords and I agreed to this place as neutral ground.

"I am here for the Rock," I tell the Magnar and they are all confused by that.

"What Rock?" The Crowl asks me, I can barely make out one word in four, the Stane, on the other hand, has a look of understanding and realization on his face, he knows what Rock I am talking about.

"The black rock, the rock that showed up more than a hundred and fifty years ago," I tell looking at the Stane and he nods.

"I know what he is talking about, he is talking about the Black Rock, many years ago a huge black beast came into our lands and he fell asleep and became a rock, we have always stayed away from the rock for we know that it is dangerous," The Stane tells me, Yep that's the Rock that I want.

"I want to see that Rock," I tell him and he nods.

Oddly enough, the Stane seems to be the more articulate of the Skags but then again it's like saying a tortoise is faster than a snail.

The Black Rock, Stane Lands

Skagos, The North

And there it is, the big black rock right in the middle of Stane Lands, it's like a black island on grey.

It's not large enough to be a hillock like how Balerion the Black Dread was but it's still massive. While the remaining rocks surrounding it are grey the black-colored rock does kind of stand out, hell even though the skies are grey, the entire place looks drab and grey and the only color difference you can see in this grey is the black rock.

"Your grace, what exactly are you doing?" Arthur finally asks me, I tell him "Watch and see"

He is not satisfied with my answer but he has held his questions for later and so has Oswell while Melisandre is barely keeping it in her pants. Oswell and Arthur are buried in furs as it is super cold while Melisandre is surprisingly(unsurprisingly) fine with the cold. I am not buried in furs because I am surprisingly enough quite warm-blooded must be our dragon blood, but I am wearing still a good amount of fur cloaks.

The Magnar, the Crowl, and the Stane are all looking on curiously at what's about to happen, as well as their people. I can't say what the Royal Guard is thinking but no doubt they too are wondering what their King is doing in the middle of nowhere, but if I succeed then this will forever implant utter loyalty towards me on their part and the same goes for the Kingsguard, both of whom are looking on with emotionless faces, something that they have mastered in the many years of living in the Red Keep under my Father's reign and mine for that matter.

I take a deep breath and I walk toward the rock.

I walk over to the rock and I soon find a crack in it, looking up I see that this crack goes the entire length of the rock, this is it.

When Brynden and Daemon told me how to wake up the dragon, I expected it to be something like a ritual but rather it turned out to be a prayer to the Fourteen along with a little bit of my blood.

I take out my knife and cut across my palm and I allow the blood to drip into the crack.

And then I place my bleeding palm on the crack and I close my eyes and pray,

"In the Name of Arrax, the King of the Gods, the God of Law, Order, Justice, and Strength, I call upon you to wake up to Glory

In the Name of Aegerax, the God of all creatures that walk, run, swim, or fly, I call upon you to Rise to Greatness

In the Name of Balerion, the God of Death and the Underworld, I call upon you to get up and kill

In the Name of Caraxes, the God of the War, I call upon you to descend and destroy our enemies

In the Name of Gaelithox, the God of Fire, Stars, Moon, Sun, and the Dawn, I call upon you to lead us to a brighter future

In the Name of Meleys, the Goddess of women and families, I call upon you to preserve our families

In the Name of Meraxes, the Goddess of love and pleasure, I call upon you to bring us happiness

In the Name of Shyrkos, the Goddess of Beginnings and Endings, I call upon you to be by our side as we walk our journeys

In the Name of Syrax, the Goddess of Harvest and the Seasons, I call upon you to make us fruitful

In the Name of Tessarion, the Goddess of the Hearth and the Fire, I call upon you to keep us warm in the darkest and coldest of times

In the Name of Tyraxes, the God of Wine and Ecstasy, I call upon you for euphoria

In the Name of Vermax, the Messenger of the Gods, I call upon you to bring us Glad tidings

In the Name of Vermithor, the God of Smiths, Crafts, and Artisans, I call upon you to bless the works of our hands

In the Name of Vhagar, the Goddess of Wisdom, I call upon you to bless our minds

In the Name of the Fourteen, I call upon you, The Cannibal, to rise from your slumber and lead us to Greatness, Glory, Power, and Magnificence"

I open my eyes and I take my hand from the crack, and when I look at it I see that the cut on my palm has completely healed, it's like it was never even cut.

I walk back to the group, and immediately Arthur pounces on me "What was that? What did you do?"

I show him my hand, and everyone saw me cut my palm, "Didn't you cut your hand, your grace" Oswell asks me confused, I tell him "Yes, yes I did" Neither of them understands what happened when Melisandre finally says "I thought you Valyrians, considered yourself Above Gods and Men and yet here you ask the Fourteen for help"

I reply "Aren't you more interested in your one and only God" She simply smiles "As long as we didn't affect the political interests of the Forty, they allowed any religion to exist"

That's true, the Valyrians were something like the Roman Empire in that regard, before it went Christian that is.

I turn to Arthur "Hey, Remember when I told you about the Cannibal, the wild dragon" He slowly nods "Yes, but what does that have to do with-" It clicks on him.

"No" He is simply stunned, and he looks towards the rock behind me, "Yes," I say back to him smiling, and he shakes his head "That's impossible-" Before he can even complete his sentence an earthquake strikes.

I would bet that this earthquake was an 8.1 on the Richter scale because literally, everyone fell down

Everyone except me, so maybe not 8.1 for I was the only one to be left standing, the Kingsguard, the Royal Guard, the Lords, Melisandre, and the Skagosi people who came to watch, for all of them fell except me, and then I turned around to the rock.

The rock began to shake and enlarge itself, the dust began to fall, and the cracks began to show.

I stepped back stunned at what I was seeing, even though I knew what I had done, seeing it was another thing entirely.

A tail broke out making the serpentine body known

Two wings then broke out of the rock, stretching themselves for the first time in more than one and a half centuries

The serpentine body began to contort itself to its full height,

The beast stretched its wings and just then both lighting and thunder struck the skies at the same time, the grey sky darkened with black clouds, and its coal-black scales shone under the light of the lightning for a second

The beast gave out a huge roar that shook the island and the waters around it and then it gave out a huge blast of sorcerous green flames upwards into the sky, it was so hot that even with my dragon-blooded heat tolerance, I began to sweat, had I been any closer my clothes would have caught on fire.

And then he came down to my level and finally opened his eyes

And I saw its baleful wildfire green eyes stare menacingly at me.

Little did I know that the magic of this resurrection would cause three dragons eggs on Dragonstone to hatch.
