The door of the classroom opened and a girl walked in. She was tall and had long brown hair and brown eyes. It was obvious the girl had been fighting, as she was covered in scrapes and was coated with mud.
"Sit down Logan, and tell me why you are…"
The teacher paused and the entire class was silent as she looked at her watch.
"…15 minutes late to this lesson."
She finished in an exasperated tone, and the girl at the door grinned.
"Sorry Miss, I forgot what class I was in~."
She spoke in a snarky voice and the teacher just glared at her. The girl, Logan, smiled again and walked leisurely to her assigned seat at the front of the classroom and next to the window.
The teacher just sighed, almost seeming to resign herself from the situation.
"That's an hour detention after school, Logan."
She spoke halfheartedly, knowing full well Logan would just skip the detention…as usual.
"If you say so, Miss Smith!"
Logan put her feet up on the desk and layed back in her chair. The teacher clenched her jaw and a few girls at the back of the class giggled.
"….okay class. Let's continue."
The teacher picked up her whiteboard marker and wrote out some equations on the board.
Logan just stared out of the window, watching the bird and ignoring what Miss Smith was teaching. She hated maths with a passion, and there was more urgent matters at the forefront of her mind than some stupid algebra….like THAT bastard for example…
A knock at the door interrupted her thoughts, and also poor Miss Smith who was mid sentence.
"Come in…"
The teacher was clearly annoyed at being interrupted for a second time.
The door opened and another girl stepped inside. She had extremely short black hair, and her hair almost covered her eyes. The girl looked from the teacher to the class awkwardly, still stood at the door.
"Uhmm, I think I'm supposed to be in this class."
The newcomer mumbled, and Miss Smith just nodded.
"Oh yes, I heard about the class getting a new student…however why are you turning up so late in the day?"
The girl spoke up again, obviously highly uncomfortable.
"I came in now because I was home schooled , and this school said it would be a big jump to go into a 6 hour school day and I should just have 2 hours to start with."
The new kid stared blankly at the teacher.
"I understand now, uh, go sit over there…"
She gestured to a conveniently empty chair near the back of the classroom, and the girl walked to the seat without a word and sat down.
Logan peaked around at the new girl, and they caught each others eye. She whipped her head back around. Damn that was awkward.
Logan put her head on the desk and closed her eyes. Double maths…she'd rather just sleep.

"Uh, excuse me. Hello?"
A hand gripped Logan's shoulders and shook her lightly. She opened her eyes hesitantly.
"What the fu-"
She paused mid sentence, It was the new student. The girl was just staring at her with an indifferent expression.
"Class is over, the teacher asked me to wake you up before I leave."
Logan jumped out of her chair and grabbed her bag. The new girl turned and began to walk towards the door.
"Wait up-!"
Logan ram to her side and began to walk next to her down the corridor.
"I'm Logan,"
She introduced herself, grinning.
"I'm Maria."
Maria glanced up at her, a questioning stare plastered across her face. Logan looked back at her , noticing the stare.
"What?"
Maria was silent for a minute.
"Nothing."
The two of them walked out of the school gates, most of the students had already left.
"What way do you walk?"
Logan asked in a questioning tone.
"That way—"
Maria indicated down the left side of the busy street.
"Ohh my house is down that way too!"
Maria glanced up at her again, giving a small smile.
"Want to walk together then?"
Logan nodded, before shaking her head.
"Cant, not today. I'm going to explore an abandoned building I found."
Maria's eyes brightened.
"That sounds cool. Can I come?"
Logan was startled by the sudden question, but grinned.
"Yeah, don't be too scared though~."
Maria rolled her eyes, smirking.
"Bet."

After walking down some quieter streets for some time, and passing some dodgy looking people they arrived at a shabby looking house with ivy growing up its walls. It looked ready to fall down, and it's harden was overgrown and a mess.
"Let's go in then, you wuss."
Maria grabbed Logan's arm, dragging her through the front gate. She was a lot more confident than Logan had first thought.
They got to the front of the house and Maria let go of Logan's arm. She clutched the rusted door handle and to their surprise it opened.
Creaaaaak.
Inside it was pitch black, and a faint scuttling of rats could be heard as light filtered in though the now-open door.
Logan stepped inside and the floor below felt…unstable? Maria followed her and the two girls made their way through the narrow corridor.
"It's kinda creepy in here.."
Maria muttered.
"But I ain't saying I'm scared or anything!"
She finished her sentence hurriedly and glanced up. Wait, what? Wher had Logan gone!? She was right in front of her….she took a step forward.
There was nothing to put her feet on,
She fell into the hole on the floor.
