Chapter 44 - Vow

Three years later

Uchiha Enlil sat on the bed in the bedroom, watching Qian Renxue as she slept beside him. Their relationship had deepened since they confessed their feelings to each other. Over time, Enlil even revealed the truth—that he wasn't from this world. To his surprise, she believed him. However, they had agreed to wait until after their wedding for the last step.

As he gazed at her serene face, his mind drifted back to events from two years ago.

---

"Congratulations, Enlil! I can't believe you passed the test so fast!" Qian Renxue sat beside him, grinning.

Enlil wiped the sweat from his brow, catching his breath. "Thank you, but don't let me steal the spotlight. You need to pass yours too."

Qian Renxue lifted her chin, her pride evident. "I could've passed before you, but I didn't want to hurt your pride."

Enlil chuckled, recognizing her usual Tsunder demeanor. Proud yet hesitant to admit it. He knew she'd succeed. She had come just nine steps short in her last attempt.

But then he remembered something else, and a mischievous grin crossed his face.

"Why are you grinning like that?" Qian Renxue shifted, clearly uneasy.

"Have you forgotten our bet? I won, which means I get to ask something of you."

Her eyes widened as the realization hit. In her excitement over his success, she had completely forgotten the wager. She composed herself, trying to sound confident. "And what do you want?"

Enlil's tone grew serious. "Qian Renxue, I love you. I want to marry you. But I know a marriage isn't something to win with a bet. So, my request is that you be my girlfriend for a while, and if you don't love me after that, you can tell me, and it'll end. What do you think?"

---

Enlil returned to the present moment, reflecting on their imminent departure from the island. They had accomplished everything they came for; all the tests were completed, and there was nothing more for them here.

While their rewards had been less substantial compared to those received by Dai Mubai, Enlil bore no complaints. He understood that Dai Mubai's connection to the Sea God's successor might have influenced the difference in their rewards.

Despite the disparity in rewards, Enlil had not left empty-handed. The tests had strengthened his body significantly. The rigorous challenges had enhanced his physical capabilities, making him more resilient and powerful. Moreover, he had managed to digest all the immortal herbs he had previously been unable to absorb. This achievement had further boosted his strength and vitality.

---

A few hours later, Qian Renxue stirred awake. Enlil had already prepared breakfast and was sitting beside her, smiling. She returned the smile and got up to wash her face before joining him at the table.

After eating, she asked, "What's the plan for today?"

Enlil replied, "We leave today. We've finished all the tests, and staying here won't make us stronger. Plus, we're already behind on your mother's plans. Any more delays, and there could be trouble."

Qian Renxue nodded. "You're right. Are we leaving now?"

"Not yet," Enlil said. "We need to say goodbye to Bo Saixi. She's taken care of us all these years, and we should thank her. But before that, I want to take you somewhere."

Although curious, Qian Renxue didn't hesitate to agree.

---

After a few minutes of walking, they reached a grassy cliff surrounded by vibrant flowers. Qian Renxue gazed at the scene, captivated by the beauty of the place. Life buzzed all around them, and the air was rich with the scent of wildflowers.

Enlil stood beside her, feeling at peace. When they reached the cliff's edge, the view before them was stunning.

Below, clear blue water crashed against the coral reefs, the sound harmonizing with the surrounding beauty. The reefs stretched out like a vibrant painting, their colors vivid and enchanting. In the distance, seabirds soared above the waves. The golden rays of the setting sun glistened on the water, creating a shimmering glow, as if the sky and sea were meeting in perfect harmony.

---

Qian Renxue whispered, "It's so beautiful..."

She turned toward Enlil to thank him, but her breath caught in her throat. He was kneeling in front of her, holding a small box with a ring inside.

For a moment, she couldn't speak, and then she heard his voice.

"I, Uchiha Enlil, ask for your hand in marriage. I promise to always stand by your side, supporting you in every step and loving you with sincerity and devotion. I will be your lover, friend, and companion through every moment of our lives, as long as you accept me as your husband."

Tears welled up in Qian Renxue's eyes. She smiled, taking the ring, and with a voice filled with emotion, said,

I, Qian Renxue, accept your proposal with all my heart. I vow to be your support and confidante, facing life's challenges and joys together. I will be the wife who cherishes and respects you, and together we will write a love story that never ends."
