Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 ~ Silence

"When we get back to your place, I'd like to go to your Library again." Ian smirked holding on to the steering wheel.

"Okay" I said resting in the passenger seat.

To say I was tired was an understatement.

At the search party meeting, Dave and I got into a small argument and also Kiara and Jack.

Jerome and Ian just remained mute.

We tried to analyze everything that was messing with our heads and whether we wanted to admit it or not, we were scared.

Ian was the only one holding us all in the group.

"Are you still thinking about what Dave said? If you are, stop. The tension is getting to him" Ian said as we approached Skye's house.

"No, I'm not" I replied before sighing.

"Let's just get this over with." I mumbled getting out of the car before Ian did the same.

He was close behind me as I knocked on the door.

"Hi Sabrina, Ian" Georgia tried to smile but I could see stress lines on her forehead.

"Hey Georgia, can Ian and I come in for a while? We need to check Skye's room" I said bluntly as she pulled the door open wider.

"I know you're trying to help Rina, but the police have checked, there isn't anything there." Georgia said as I reached the foot of the stairs.

"There is no harm checking again now is there?" Ian smiled briefly before holding the small of my back and nudging me forward.

Even the tiniest contact of his skin on mine sent shockwaves through my bloodstream.

I tried.

I really tried hard not to think of his hand on my bare back, not to think of what would happen if he inched a little lower... or higher.

STOP RINA!

Your best friend is missing!

FOCUS!

I tried to scold myself but anytime Ian was around, it was close to impossible to focus.

We entered the room and I moved to her closet to inspect it, while Ian searched her bedside table.

There was nothing but dirty clothes, underwear, shoes, make-up and jewelry.

"Your best friend is a really dirty creature" Ian said holding a dirty underwear with his index and thumb.

My face twisted in disgust. "Ugh! Drop that" I almost laughed.

It was 6:43 and we hadn't found any piece of evidence or clue or anything. It was frustrating as hell.

"Let's just go Ian, there's nothing here." I groaned, pulling him from the bed and he obliged, standing up and startling me by wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his head in the space between my shoulder and neck.

"What-" I began but was cut off.

"I'm tired Rina, let's go home" he mumbled, the vibration on his throat almost making me chuckle.

"Okay, let's go home" I said as we headed downstairs.

I didn't forget that Ian referred to my house as 'home' and it evoked a feeling in the pit of my belly that I didn't want to go away.

The littlest things he did made me feel special and it disturbed me a little because I didn't know the kind of relationship we shared.

We had kissed only once, so at that point, I didn't know where we stood and it scared me to ask because I didn't want him to say something that would hurt me or scar me forever, so I just left us the way we were.

When we got to my place, it was pouring heavily so Ian and I just sat in the silence of the car, listening to silence by Marshmallow and Khalid... Ironic huh?

'I found peace in your violence, can't show me there's no point in trying...'

"Okay, let's get the fuck out of here" Ian said turning the radio off and getting down.

"Hey, I like that song!" I yelled as he crossed over to my side opening the door.

"You're drenched" I smirk patting his head.

Oh! Did I mention, Ian had a haircut and his hair was lower?

Well yeah, he did and... he looked...

um...

Hotter!!!

I didn't think it was possible but I was sure the 'I' in Ian meant impossible.

"And I frankly don't care" he smiled taking his jacket and throwing it in a puddle.

"Hey! If you didn't want that, you could've given me." I pouted staring at how the black fabric of his top clung to his muscles leaving little to my imagination.

"You're going to get sick" I chuckled shaking my head.

Ian inched closer to me

"Join me?" It sounded more like a demand and I shook my head frantically.

"There's no way I'm-" I began but Ian pulled my legs towards him and I squealed chuckling.

"Wait! Let me turn the music on first" I demanded and he rolled his eyes.

When I switched on the radio and increased the volume to the highest, I was immediately dragged out of the car and met by a heavy shower of rain, but I could still hear the music loudly over the sound of rain hitting the concrete ground.

'Yeah, I'd rather be a lover than a fighter, cause all my life I've been fighting. Never felt a feeling of comfort, all this time I've been lying'

Ian pulled me closer to him, his forehead on mine as the rain soaked my outfit.

I was dressed in a spaghetti strapped red crop top and blue booty shorts with black combat boots... so I guess there really wasn't much to drench.

I chuckled as Ian placed a soft kiss on my nose. I pushed him back and started running, letting the cold breeze caress my skin and tousle my hair.

'And I never had someone to call my own, I'm so used to sharing. Love only left me alone but, I'm at one with the silence'

It wasn't long before Ian caught up with me and then we started plummeting into the floor.

I was expecting to be welcomed with a sharp pain to the head but it never came.

Ian pulled me above him so he could take the hit.

I didn't know if I should've cried or laughed.

It was things like this... small, sweet things he did that got to me.

"Fuck" Ian cursed holding the back of his head with one hand and the other on me.

I immediately burst out laughing and in a matter of seconds, Ian joined me.

'I found peace in your violence can't show me there's no point in trying, I'm at one and I've been quiet for too long'

Ian flipped over and now I was on the floor and he was hovering over me, I tried to push him as he brought his lips to my exposed cleavage, making me giggle like a fucking kid.

Now if someone was passing the Brooks house and saw us, they would've called 911 stating the emergency of two mad people on the loose but i didn't give a fuck.

I just wanted to laugh with Ian.

Ian and I were laughing hard and everything felt slower as he gave me his million dollars toothy smile while he removed some hair that had fallen on my face.

A goofy grin was plastered on my face as his fingers trailed to my neck and I didn't realize what he was doing until his hands moved to my ribcage and he tickled me mercilessly.

I laughed, shaking on the wet floor and trying to get up from my captor.

'I've been quiet for too long.... I found peace in your violence can't show me there's no point in trying, I'm at one...'

Ian finally carried me by my waist and I circled my thighs around his torso as he held my lower back with his strong arms.

I couldn't stop laughing as the rain and loud beat from Ian's car drowned my worries.

The pouring rain quickly turned to a small drizzle as water cascaded down my back.

Ian's right hand was buried in my hair as his forehead was on mine. We tried to catch our breaths from running around and playing like kids.

We got inside and rushed upstairs to get dry.

"I'm going to shower" Ian said as he took off his shirt and I couldn't help but stare.

"Of course you do." I rolled my eyes smiling a bit as he entered my bathroom.

I went to Ryan's room and got a shirt and some pants for Ian to wear.

Ian was still in the shower when I removed my clothes and got into a towel.

It wasn't long after that I heard my ringtone.

Ryan

"Hey Ryan" I smiled, sitting on the edge of the bed

"Hey sis, sorry I didn't call, I was a little busy. Are you okay?" He asked and I nodded.

I almost thumped my own head, forgetting he couldn't see me.

"Yeah, I'm fine"

"I heard that Skye is missing, are you sure you're fine being alone"

"It's fine. Besides, I'm not alone..." I smiled remembering last night when Ian read to me till I fell asleep.

"I have nana and don't forget my boyfriend" I chuckled and Ryan snorted.

"Sure, sure. No funny business" he played along and I smiled.

Ryan had always known about my imaginary boyfriends so he didn't take me serious when I called Ian my boyfriend just like I knew he wouldn't and as if bad timing was imprinted on my horoscope, Ian came out of the bathroom in nothing other than a towel that was dangerously low on his waist.

"Rina, don't you have anything other than strawberry? Your shampoo and soap are both fucking strawberry" he spoke and I would've said 'Well, girls don't exactly like smelling like roadkill" if Ryan wasn't on the line.

"Sabrina, who was that?" He asked and I remained mute.

Ian realized I was on the phone and narrowed his eyes.

"Who are you talking to?" He asked and I widened my eyes putting a palm to my forehead.

"Who the fuck is that Sabrina!" Ryan yelled and I seriously hated it when he did so I had the urge to yell back.

"No one! Stop fucking yelling" I yelled back.

I didn't miss the amusement in Ian's eyes as he sat on the edge of the bed watching me pace the room.

He must've been able to hear what Ryan was saying due to his yells.

"I'm not fucking playing Sabrina! Don't tell me you brought some douche into the house and into the shower! Don't mess with me bro, who the fuck is in our house!" He yelled louder and I had to remove the phone from my ear.

"Ugh! Ryan stop fucking yelling! He's... he's a Friend okay? He's been staying with me since Skye's disappearance and he's not a douche. He been really helpful and..."

"Fuck no Rina! I'm not even playing no more. I'm coming over there to Willowcreek. There's no way some mother fucker gonna..." He paused for a moment

"Is that bastard fucking you?" He said venomously and tears pricked my eyes.

Ian's smirk disappeared as he took huge steps towards me trying to grab the phone.

"Yo! Don't talk to her like that. She's your sister don't be a-Sabrina give me the phone" "Ian, no!"

"Ian! Who the fuck is Ian?" Ryan asked as Ian and I fought for the phone.

I finally grabbed it from him.

"Ryan don't come here. I'll talk to you in the morning but please don't come here" I said and I hear him sigh

"We'll talk tomorrow Rina, don't do anything stupid" he said, anger still laced in his tone.

"Goodnight Ryan, love you"

"Don't do anything stupid. Love you, bye." he said before the call disconnected.

"I'm sorry" Ian finally said.

"No don't be. Ryan... well is a douche"

"No he's just protective. He loves you"

"I know he does. Let's just forget about this and go to bed, I'm exhausted"

"Of course you are." Ian smirked.

"I got some of Ryan's clothes for you to wear" I said before entering the shower.

When I came out, Ian was on the bed with a book in his hand, I jumped on the bed beside him and he chuckled, grabbing my waist closer to him.

My cheek rested on his right hand as my posterior was against his waist.

He placed his left hand around my small waist reading me a chapter of Harry Potter.

It didn't take long before my eyelids became heavy and everything turned pitch black.
