Chapter 3 - Another red one Part #3

Kendell Carter was a 19-year-old college student living in the state of Utah. He lived in a magnificent mansion that had been in his family for generations. But despite the luxurious surroundings, Kendall was a simple and unassuming young man. He focused all his energy on his studies, determined to graduate with honors and make his family proud.

March 1st was a day that Kendall had been anticipating for a long time. It was the day of the rare red moon, and he had been looking forward to observing it from the balcony of his mansion. He had read everything he could about the phenomenon and was excited to witness it with his own eyes.

As the evening approached, Kendall hurried home from his college classes. He was eager to get a good spot on the balcony and set up his telescope to capture the best view of the red moon. He had just finished setting up his equipment when he noticed the moon starting to rise in the sky.

It was breathtaking. The moon was a deep, fiery red, casting an eerie glow over the landscape. Kendell couldn't take his eyes off it. He was completely mesmerized, and for a moment, he forgot about everything else. But as he continued to stare at the moon, he started to feel an intense burning sensation in his eyes.

He tried to look away, but he couldn't. The red moon seemed to have a hypnotic effect on him. With each passing moment, the burning sensation in his eyes intensified until he could no longer bear it. Kendell let out a cry of pain and collapsed to the ground, his hands covering his eyes.

When he woke up, Kendall found himself in a hospital bed. His head was throbbing, and his eyes were bandaged. He couldn't see a thing. The doctors explained that the intense light from the red moon had caused severe damage to his eyes. He may never be able to see again.

Kendall's heart sunk. All his dreams of graduating from college and making something of himself seemed to shatter in that moment. He was devastated, but more than that, he was scared. He couldn't imagine a life without sight.

As he adjusted to his new reality, Kendall's family and friends tried their best to support him. They even converted a room in the mansion into a bedroom for him, making it easier for him to navigate without sight. But Kendell was a shell of his former self. He had lost his spark and his motivation to continue with his studies.

One night, Kendall's father received a phone call from the mansion's caretaker. He had heard strange noises coming from Kendall's room, and it had been going on for several nights. When they went to investigate, they found Kendell sitting on the edge of his bed, facing the window. His eyes were still bandaged, but he seemed to be staring out into the darkness.

His father tried to get his attention, but Kendell didn't respond. He just sat there, completely motionless. It wasn't until his father grabbed his arm that Kendell snapped out of his trance. He looked confused and disoriented, as if he didn't know where he was.

From that night on, Kendell's behavior became increasingly strange. He would sit in front of the window every night, facing the darkness and refusing to move. His family became worried for his mental state and consulted with doctors. But they couldn't find anything physically wrong with him. They attributed his behavior to the trauma he had experienced after losing his sight.

However, as the nights went on, Kendell's behavior became more and more disturbing. He would start talking to the darkness outside his window, as if having a conversation with someone invisible. He would also start screaming and thrashing about, as if he was being attacked by some unseen force.

One night, Kendall's family woke up to find him standing at the foot of his bed, his eyes still bandaged. But this time, he was not alone. Standing behind him was a dark, shadowy figure. It had long, twisted fingers and glowing eyes that seemed to burn with a red fire.

His family was terrified, and they watched in horror as Kendell spoke to the figure, asking it to leave him alone. The caretaker and some of the family members tried to intervene, but they were pushed back by an unseen force. It was as if the figure had some kind of power that was preventing anyone from entering the room.

Just as suddenly as it appeared, the figure vanished, and Kendall collapsed to the ground, his body convulsing. It wasn't until the next morning that Kendell's family found him lying on the floor, lifeless. He had a look of terror on his face, as if he had seen something that had scared him to his core.

The doctors could not explain what had happened to Kendall. They could find no logical explanation for his death. But to those who knew him, it was clear that the mysterious figure that had appeared in his room was responsible for his demise.

From that day on, no one ever stayed in the mansion after dark. They said that Kendell's spirit still haunted the place, unable to rest after his tragic death. And to this day, people claim to have seen a dark figure standing in front of the window in Kendall's room, its glowing red eyes burning with a malevolent light. And they all heed the warning, 'Don't look up.'
