Chereads / Villain: In Apocalypse / Chapter 82 - Chapter 81 :- “A Black Minibus, You Say?”

Chapter 82 - Chapter 81 :- “A Black Minibus, You Say?”

The black iron core augments attributes by a total of 3 to 5 points, with an optimal enhancement of 6 points. In contrast, the bronze core boosts attributes by 8 to 11 points, with 12 points being the pinnacle of enhancement.

Additionally, the bronze core's attributeless crystal nucleus is capable of augmenting a modest quantum of spiritual power in humans.

...........

Upon advancing to Bronze, Lu Yu's four main attributes ceased to increase naturally.

The prevalence of bronze monsters has resulted in only a marginal increase in his attributes. However, his array of personal skills has expanded significantly.

Beyond achieving full mastery in swordsmanship, Lu Yu has acquired additional abilities through his defeat of Chu Feng.

Mastery in this context refers to proficiency in a particular skill.

Concentrated Warfare allows one to enter a heightened state of combat, which sharpens concentration and quickens reflexes at the expense of mental energy.

Spiritual Gathering Steps is a technique used by Chu Feng for evasion within the secret realm. It involves channeling the body's collective strength into the legs, thereby enhancing running speed in proportion to the remaining physical strength.

The duration of this speed boost is contingent upon the enhancement level. For instance, a black iron high-level enhancer at full capacity can double their movement speed for approximately 15 minutes.

However, if their physical strength is halved, the speed increase is limited to 50%, with the duration remaining unchanged at about 15 minutes. This skill is typically reserved for situations where escape from a formidable adversary is imperative.

As for the Brave Warrior skill, it is Chu Feng's ultimate explosive ability, offering significant power at the cost of severe side effects.

Unlike the traditional Berserker, Chu Feng's skill is tailored for ordinary enhancers, drawing inspiration from the berserkers of subsequent generations.

Chu Feng's unique Divine Body significantly mitigates the adverse effects of his abilities, making it a skill that rewards diligence and hard work.

...............

The police station is currently occupied by 16 thugs, including one superhuman and two enhancers.

One enhancer is stationed as a guard on the top floor, leaving only Xu Bao, the power user, and another enhancer in the main hall. This assembly is vastly inferior to Lu Yu's team, primarily due to the disparity in innate talent.

The enhancer on guard, despite exerting full effort, barely qualifies as an intermediate-level black iron.

With strength and agility scores around 20 points, his combat skills are rudimentary at best.

Against Lu Yu, a Bronze Beginner, a Top Fighter, and a Master Swordsman, he stands no chance, unable to withstand even a single move.

Xu Bao's abilities are somewhat unique, but his lack of talent renders him incapable of threatening Lu Yu.

Psychic powers require both time and proximity to exert control over an opponent. Xu Bao's limitations include a maximum effective range of two meters and an extended duration needed to influence those with stronger mental fortitude.

The effectiveness of psychic control hinges on possessing greater mental power than the target.

Xu Bao, despite being a power user with higher than average vitality and spiritual power, can only amplify his mental power by 30% for a brief period.

Without the crystal core, it's improbable for Xu Bao's mental power to reach 30 points.

Consequently, even with a 30% boost, his mental power would only amount to 40 points, insufficient to dominate Lu Yu.

Unless Xu Bao belongs to the protagonist or national camp, or perhaps the villain camp, his influence is limited to ordinary individuals or inexperienced awakeners.

In Lu Yu's presence, Xu Bao's impact is negligible, unable to cause any significant disturbance.

.........

In the lobby of the police station, a tense scene had unfolded.

Out of ten thugs, eight had met their demise.

Wei Jianjun had successfully subdued Aguang and confiscated his gunl.

Meanwhile, Xiao Jin stood guard at the entrance, while Hei Shuai positioned himself beside Lu Yu, ensuring his protection.

Lu Yu had unleashed a wind blade attack on Xu Bao, who, thanks to his exceptional mental fortitude, managed to react swiftly, resulting in only a shoulder injury.

However, as the leader of the gang, Lu Yu warranted extra vigilance.

The moment Xu Bao drew his firearm, before he could even aim, Lu Yu's gleaming azure sword was already at his throat.

Subsequently, Wei Jianjun conducted a thorough search and forced Xu Bao to kneel before Lu Yu.

...…

"Treasure!?"

The word piqued Lu Yu's interest, his eyebrows arching in curiosity.

What was this unexpected development?

How did this individual come to possess a treasure?

It seemed improbable for a villain to be so fortunate.

Lu Yu had merely intended to retrieve weapons from the police station; the prospect of acquiring treasure had never crossed his mind.

"It's…this…"

Despite the throbbing pain in his shoulder, Xu Bao, with a sense of urgency, extracted a 'pocket watch' from his trouser pocket, his hand smeared with blood.

In the midst of the police station's lobby, Xu Bao's heart was gripped by a sense of unease, his hands trembling ever so slightly.

The reason for his nervousness lay in the mysterious object he possessed—an object whose purpose was unknown even to him.

The looming threat of death hung over him; if Lu Yu deemed the item worthless, it spelled the end for Xu Bao.

Upon presenting the watch to Lu Yu, a wave of astonishment washed over him.

Could this indeed be a treasure?

The item, identified as a 'Predator: Tracking prop,' was a tool reserved for the powerful.

It boasted the ability to track any desired target, provided one had a piece of the prey—flesh, hair, feces, clothing, and the like.

Additionally, it served as a compass, with a specialized groove on the back for inserting the tracking material. The priority for tracking was given to body tissue over other items, with the latter having a chance of failure.

Lu Yu examined the 'pocket watch' meticulously, turning it over in his hands. Once he had verified its capabilities, he discreetly placed it into his storage ring.

[Predator: Tracking props. ]

[Note 1 : This is a tracking item that only the strong can have. With it, you can track any prey you want to track. ]

[Note 2 : This item is a tracking item. Although you do not need to drop blood to identify the owner, you need the items or body tissue used by the prey when tracking the prey! Such as: flesh, hair, feces, clothing, etc.! ]

[Note 3 : This item can be used as a compass at ordinary times. When using the tracking function, just put the tracking item into the groove on the back of the hunter! (Tracking priority, body tissue is greater than using items, and using item tracking may fail!)]

The explanation for the item was quite extensive, but to put it simply, it was a hunting tracker designed for the strong.

In a world ravaged by an apocalypse, where the tracking abilities of canine mutant beasts were compromised, this device offered a valuable solution. While Lu Yu found it of limited use, it was certainly better than nothing.

Curiosity piqued, Lu Yu inquired, "Where did you acquire this item?"

Xu Bao, despite the pain radiating from his shoulder wound, recounted the tale of how he came upon the 'pocket watch' in a 'special room,' his voice carrying a note of relief.

Upon hearing Xu Bao's account, Lu Yu couldn't help but marvel at the man's extraordinary fortune.

To stumble upon a hidden realm within the confines of a prison was indeed an odd twist of fate.

"This item is certainly of value, yet it does not warrant risking your life over it," Lu Yu remarked.

"And what is it that you desire?" Xu Bao inquired, a hint of desperation in his voice.

"Provide me with satisfactory answers to a few more questions, and I shall grant you your freedom," Lu Yu proposed.

"Very well… ask your questions," Xu Bao consented, suppressing the urge to lash out at Lu Yu.

The sight of the blood-soaked ground and the imposing canine beast fixated on Lu Yu was enough to make him swallow his pride. After all, might makes right—a truth that was evident in this lawless world.

"How many survivors remain within the surrounding area besides yourself?" Lu Yu queried.

"I… I haven't kept count," Xu Bao stammered, on the verge of tears, feeling more oppressed than ever before in his life.

He had delegated the task of counting survivors into the interrogation room to his underlings.

Whenever monsters invaded or wounded survivors were found, it was his men who dealt with them, not him.

"Where are they detained at present?" Lu Yu pressed on.

"The majority are confined within the interrogation rooms," Xu Bao disclosed.

"And your associates?

How many do you command?" Lu Yu continued his interrogation.

"Ten… no, sixteen in total," Xu Bao corrected himself.

"Sixteen?

So, there are six who are unaccounted for?" Lu Yu deduced.

"Yes… precisely!" Xu Bao responded earnestly, divulging that he had dispatched two to scavenge for supplies, stationed two as sentinels on the top floor, and recently sent out another two.

Understanding the necessity of resource acquisition in these apocalyptic times,

Lu Yu nodded. The top floor sentries were likely on the lookout for intruders or monstrous hordes, possibly alerted by the earlier gunfire and now in hiding.

"But the two you've just sent out?" Lu Yu inquired with a furrowed brow.

"The commotion you heard earlier?

It originated from a black minibus. I sent two from the front entrance to investigate," Xu Bao explained.

"A black minibus, you say?"

Lu Yu echoed, his interest piqued.
