Chereads / Villain: In Apocalypse / Chapter 78 - Chapter 77 :- “Is This Guy For Real?”

Chapter 78 - Chapter 77 :- “Is This Guy For Real?”

Aguang and Acheng, siblings linked by familial ties and unlawful deeds, were in a tough situation. They were not only financially strained but also carried the stigma of being lawbreakers.

During a disastrous robbery, they unintentionally caused a death, an action that resulted in Aguang receiving a deferred death penalty, a harsh consequence for his wrongdoings.

However, luck was on his side as his sentence was reduced to life imprisonment due to his good behavior in prison.

Their savior appeared in the form of Xu Bao, who, after their release, took them under his protection.

They became his devoted followers, his 'junior brothers' in the structured world of fraternity. Initially, Xu Bao assigned them the task of collecting information, a mission that filled them with bitterness.

The outside world was filled with danger, swarming with terrifying creatures that transformed the streets into a trap for the unsuspecting.

However, destiny intervened, and a loud noise distracted the monsters, making their path significantly safer.

Amid this unexpected safety, a strange black minibus stopped nearby, a peculiar sight in a world where vehicles were inactive, their engines quiet.

The monsters, attracted by the noise, disregarded the vehicle and instead gathered around the bodies scattered in its path.

The sight of these creatures feasting was not surprising, but the existence of the working minibus was utterly remarkable.

"An electromagnetic gun?

But we can't use electricity.

How did someone get an electromagnetic gun?"

"I don't know."

"Let's go back and tell Brother Leopard about this situation."

Without any doubt, the pair agreed.

However, considering the dangerous conditions outside, they couldn't risk separating—one to monitor the situation and the other to convey the message. Their only choice was for both of them to withdraw together.

.........…..

"A black minibus?"

Upon receiving the duo's report, Xu Bao was equally perplexed.

The current turmoil outside means that any significant noise could summon the creatures.

It's not just that the vehicle is inoperable; even if it were possible to drive it, it wouldn't be advisable.

The presence of the minibus is a mystery, as it seems to have appeared out of nowhere. The risk of attracting monsters with its noise is high, and being swarmed by them is a deadly possibility.

Xu Bao, known as Brother Leopard, dismisses the concerns and instructs Aguang and Acheng to don police uniforms and retrieve the vehicle.

The strategy is to use the uniforms as a guise to coax survivors out of hiding, a tactic they are well-versed in.

"Ah?

Brother Leopard, why is it us again?"

"Yeah, Brother Leopard, we've already gone out once.

Even if it's a turn, it should be Monkey's and Shale's turn?"

"Stop talking nonsense, do what I ask you to do!"

Xu Bao's expression hardened with a menacing edge as he witnessed the defiance of his subordinates.

His voice, laced with a cold threat, left no room for argument.

"Dare to defy me, and I'll cast you out to the mercy of the monsters."

In the hierarchy of the gang, Xu Bao stood unchallenged, his unique abilities as a psychic power user granting him unparalleled authority. His command was the law, and his wrath could spell doom for any who crossed him.

The two dissenters, Aguang and Acheng, knew better than to provoke further ire. With a sense of urgency, they armed themselves, donned their police disguises, and departed from the safety of the police station.

Xu Bao, now alone, ceased his reprimands and settled into a contemplative silence, his attention returning to the mysterious pocket watch that had been a constant enigma.

"Brother Leopard, what's the secret of this device?

......…

"It looks like a compass," a skinny gangster asked, approaching Xu Bao with a blend of intrigue and nonchalance.

The item they were discussing had been found near Xu Bao, and despite their combined attempts to decipher its secrets, its true purpose remained a mystery.

"Its function is unclear, but I believe it's valuable," Xu Bao stated with firm conviction.

He had acquired this strange artifact through an unusual encounter with a silver light vortex, about the size of a basketball, located exactly where the prison toilet used to be.

Upon touching it, Xu Bao was transported to a different dimension, inside a room decorated only with two wall lamps and a bronze box with an old-world charm.

Inside this small box, similar in size to a shoebox, was the mysterious watch.

Its importance was still unknown, but Xu Bao's gut feeling told him it was a valuable treasure.

The object was solidly stuck in the ground, as if it was a part of the earth itself.

With no other choice, Xu Bao picked up an item that looked like a watch, but its purpose remained unknown to him even after he had removed it.

"I tend to agree," the man mused, contemplating the situation.

"Could this device possibly act as a tracker?"

"A tracker?" Xu Bao repeated, intrigued.

"Yes, notice how it has a single pointer that keeps moving.

Maybe it leads us to hidden treasures or similar wealth," the man speculated.

"That's an interesting idea," Xu Bao admitted, his curiosity aroused as he placed the pocket watch on a flat surface for a closer examination.

However, the direction indicated by the device suggested a journey beyond the safety of the police station.

"Darn it…" Xu Bao muttered under his breath.

The outside world was filled with monstrous threats, and leaving the station was like inviting death. Yet, if they stayed within the safety of the station, the potential of the treasure would remain undiscovered.

It seemed that the mystery of the watch would have to wait for a more suitable time.

"Was it really necessary to take such a blatant revenge for playing with a woman to her death?" Aguang complained.

"If luck hadn't been on Xu Bao's side, he would be the one entertaining us," Acheng added, a touch of bitterness in his voice.

While Xu Bao was engrossed in examining his newly discovered treasure inside the police station, Aguang and Acheng, now outside and dressed in police uniforms, couldn't help but express their dissatisfaction.

They had caused the death of a young man's fiancée, which led them to believe that Xu Bao's actions were motivated by personal revenge.

Their grumbling was abruptly interrupted when they spotted several lizard-like creatures returning to the black vehicle parked nearby.

Despite being armed, they were painfully aware of the dangers of the outside world.

A single encounter with a swarm of monsters could render their guns useless, not to mention the risk of attracting more attention with the noise of gunfire.

They remembered a time when their prison housed forty or fifty inmates. It was the careless use of guns that had attracted more monsters, leading to their encirclement and destruction.

Now, only a few of them are left.

With a chorus of "ho ho, ho ho!" echoing in the air, the two friends paused, lost in thought.

Suddenly, the terrifying sound of a beast savagely eating its prey filled their ears.

"Damn it! What's happening?" one of them exclaimed.

"Could it be… some giant creature?" the other wondered, a trace of fear in his voice.

They were startled, their hearts pounding. Although some monsters had previously been attracted by the black minibus and had returned, this ominous sound was distinctly different—it didn't come from the direction of the car, but rather from the opposite side of the street.

The possibility of encountering a huge beast left them with no choice but to use their guns.

Without wasting a second, they pulled out their weapons, their grips firm and their eyes fixed on the street ahead, preparing for what was to come.

In the next moment, a loud "boom!" echoed as a skinny zombie was thrown from around the corner into their view.

But what came next was truly shocking—a large golden monkey, its fur stained with blood and flesh, made a dramatic appearance, demanding their full attention.

As if the situation wasn't already intense enough, another beast appeared, a massive bulldog, with a lizardman clutched in its jaws.

The lizardmen, recognizing the severity of their predicament, rushed forward, only to be quickly defeated by these powerful creatures.

"Unbelievable…" they gasped, awestruck by the power of these two enormous monsters.

Their legs shook uncontrollably, and Aguang, almost reflexively, lifted his gun to shoot.

Fortunately, Ah Cheng's quick wit came to the rescue as he urgently warned,

"Don't shoot… there's someone else behind them!"

"Someone else?" Aguang repeated, confused.

Then, as if the scene couldn't become any more bizarre, a young man casually dressed in summer clothes sauntered around the corner.

His hands were casually tucked into his trouser pockets, and he radiated an aura of effortless coolness that left them wondering,

"Is this guy for real?"
