Chereads / Villain: In Apocalypse / Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 :- Transforming into Zombies

Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 :- Transforming into Zombies

Following the cosmic storm, all creatures on Earth, except some humans, experienced significant benefits. This event set off a chain of mutations, each more potent than the previous one. Humans also reaped some benefits, but only a small percentage evolved into entities known as the Awakened. Among these Awakened, those who belong to the Combat System make up less than 10% of the total population.

Even when you include those from the Life System, the total number of Awakened does not surpass 25% of the entire human population.

The majority of humans remain ordinary, with some even transforming into zombies due to genetic anomalies. Currently, the number of monsters roaming outside is relatively low. Lu Yu is located on the eighth floor of a hotel.

The population density on the ground is enough to meet the hunting requirements of these monsters. Therefore, as long as the windows of the rooms are securely shut, it is relatively safe here.

At this moment, Yan Yun is terrified and in desperate need of assistance. However, the information Lu Yu shared with her is too incredible to believe immediately. She needs some time to process it. Hence, when Lu Yu assured her of their safety, she did not prevent him from leaving.

"Master Lu!"

 "Lu Shao, are you alright?"

As soon as Lu Yu stepped out, he encountered Xue Li and Ding Feng, who were about to knock on his door. They looked at Lu Yu with a sense of bewilderment.

"I'm fine!" Lu Yu, noticing their strange gazes, asked,

"What's the matter with you two?"

Upon hearing Lu Yu's question, the two exchanged glances.

Then, the elder of the two, Xue Li, took the initiative.

"Young Master Lu, did you foresee the appearance of these monsters?"

"Oh?" Lu Yu raised his eyebrows in response,

 "Why do you ask that?"

"When you instructed us to stock up on food and weapons…" Xue Li began recounting the events with a serious expression. Seven days ago, Lu Yu had them purchase food and water to fill two rooms. He even designated a specific room to store weapons and a large quantity of toiletries. They didn't understand his intentions at the time.

Now, it appears that Lu Yu's foresight was simply extraordinary and beyond comprehension.

"Yeah, Young Master Lu!" Ding Feng chimed in,

"Just tell us the truth.

Both Xue Li and I want to know."

"We'll discuss this later!" Lu Yu scrutinized the two of them,

"Why did you guys come out? Isn't it safest to stay in the room at this time?"

"Of course we came out to protect you!" Ding Feng replied as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

 "Protect me?"

"Of course! When we arrived in Yancheng, President Lu instructed us to ensure your safety."

"But now, with so many monsters outside…

You're here to protect me too?

Aren't you afraid of dying?"

"Being bodyguards is our profession.

We wouldn't be doing this if we were afraid of death."

"Hehe, you guys have professional ethics!" Lu Yu couldn't help but tease. The two of them were his own people, nurtured by Lu Mingyuan, and they didn't feel too unfamiliar with Lu Yu.

Can he believe what they say?

This is something Lu Yu is not worried about at all.

He possesses the eyes of the villain, allowing him to see the chances of betrayal by those around him. According to his observations, the betrayal rate of the two is 22% for one and 26% for the other. This probability can be considered very good.

As long as there is no major conflict of interest, the two should not betray him. It must be said, being a villain has its advantages. Even the loyal subordinates around him start more than the protagonist.

Shaking his head and no longer thinking about it, Lu Yu glanced at room 8007 across the door. The door was open, but there was no one inside.

"Where's my beautiful classmate?"

"Before the monster appeared, I asked the front desk. It seems that at 8 o'clock, she left and said she was going back to class…"

Hearing this result, Lu Yu was not too surprised.

This woman, Qiao Manli, was afraid that she would be implicated, so she went back to school directly after waking up.

But it was for this reason that she missed a very safe refuge in the early days of the end of the world. The location where Lu Yu is located is not only a high floor, but also have very few guests staying in the hotel.

Lu Yu took responsibility for half of the rooms on this floor. Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the room, a multitude of conversations could be heard. The impending increase in zombies was a concern, but the anticipated surge in food consumption was even more alarming.

The survival rate in such a place would likely be half of what it would be in an average location. Lu Yu could only hope for the best for her, a sentiment he kept to himself.

The woman in question was not only attractive but also proved to be quite useful. However, her absence left Lu Yu with no course of action. Subsequently, Lu Yu engaged in a conversation with two bodyguards. He advised them to remain in their room, refrain from exiting, and not to open the door to anyone.

Initially, they were hesitant, believing that there was safety in numbers. However, Lu Yu had his strategies, and eventually, they complied and returned to their room. Once he confirmed that their door was shut, Lu Yu drew a deep breath and unsheathed his sword.

The sword, though rusted, had a blade that gleamed with a subtle black sheen, more so than before. Lu Yu found himself questioning the sword's ability to slay monsters given its deteriorated state. Despite his doubts, his wind attribute ability gave him a sense of confidence. He surveyed the now deserted corridor, the scattered clothes, and the open doors serving as silent witnesses to the events that had transpired on this floor.

At this time, it was indeed safest to stay in the room. But Lu Yu did not forget that he had an enemy named Chu Feng. He came back ten years after the last days. If he doesn't grow up quickly, he can't be his opponent at all. So he decided to come out for the first time to increase his actual combat experience. …

As Lu Yu was preparing to hone his skills, a scene unfolded at a commissary in Yancheng University. With a resounding crash, Chu Feng, wielding a fire ax, decapitated the commissary boss who had turned into a zombie. He then kicked the lifeless body aside. His actions were swift and precise, and he managed to close the shutter door while dealing with the zombies.

With the shutter door securely closed, Chu Feng let out a sigh of relief. He muttered to himself, "Now, this canteen is mine." He placed the fire ax on a stool and relaxed his arms. The fire ax is a crucial tool for the protagonist in the early days of the apocalypse.

It's readily available and powerful. Having wasted two hours of rebirth due to his previous encounters with Wei Jianjun and Xu Hao, Chu Feng knew that if he wanted to secure survival resources, he had to resort to 'occupying'. Hence, he headed straight here after retrieving a fire ax from school.

Luckily, when the apocalypse struck, it was class time. Apart from the boss, this commissary only had two female students. Otherwise, occupying this place would not have been so easy.

Suddenly, the anxious voice of a dark-skinned girl with a ponytail echoed from behind, "Tong Xiao, Tong Xiao, what's wrong with you?"

Chu Feng turned around to see another female classmate lying on the ground, convulsing. He quickly approached her and conducted a brief examination.

In addition to a high fever, she had a deep, bloody gash on her arm, revealing the bone beneath.

"She was scratched by a zombie!" Chu Feng stated matter-of-factly.

"Zombie…zombie?"

The dark ponytail girl looked at Chu Feng in disbelief.

"You mean… the commissary boss just now was a zombie? Like the ones in the movies??"

"Exactly!"

"Then Tong Xiao, she…"

"She was scratched by a zombie, and she will inevitably turn into one!" Chu Feng concluded.
