Ruan Munan exerted a lot of effort to steady his trembling hands.
He gently patted the top of the little girl's head, his voice slightly hoarse, "Xiao Qi, don't be afraid, it's all just a dream. With brother here, no one can hurt you."
Ruan Qi's frightened little heart was mostly soothed by her older brother's warm and pleasant voice.
She let go of Ruan Munan and looked up at him, "Brother, why haven't you slept yet?"
"I was thirsty, came down for some water."
Ruan Munan didn't want Ruan Qi to see his pale complexion. He turned around and took the milk out of the refrigerator.
"I'll warm up a cup of milk for you, to help you sleep."
Ruan Qi politely said thank you, then pulled Baby Damai's little stool over to sit at the kitchen door, chin propped on her hand as she gazed at her brother's handsome silhouette.
"Xiao Qi," Ruan Munan poured the milk into the cup, and casually asked as if making small talk, "What did you dream about?"
