The first rays of light creeped through the window entering a small but clean room. The bedroom was simple, a fur rug covering the floor, a bed, a chest for clothes and a chair and reading desk with books on it.
The books all told stories of Heroic deeds and great battles of adventures fighting monsters. And in the bed Zen Daemon a slim young man slept peacefully, with a head full of matted black hair that covered his eyes.
"Bang!"
"He must Fle-"
"Quiet you fool!"
"Ugh" muttered Zen as he slowly sat up in bed and moved his hair out of his eyes. "What's with all the racket?"
'Shit today is the Ceremony' As he jumped out of bed and glanced at the window. "Good it's still early" exhaled Zen.
He moved to grab his new outfit off his chair that he saved just for this day. While doing so he glanced at the books on the desk and with a smile "Soon" he whispered.
Heading to the bathroom to wash up, Zen lost in his own thoughts didn't notice the conversation coming from downstairs. From the snippets he would've heard if he played attention, it would've given him an ominous and worried train of thoughts.
As he finished cleaning himself up and putting on his new outfit. A cloth grey shirt and a pair of charcoal grey pants to match. Using the wash bowl to slick back his hair. A pair of golden-brown eyes reflected back at him in the mirror. And as he stared at his tan smooth face without a trace of any hair growing, with a grimace 'This is it' He thought.
"After today I can make my own deeds like Altrox- The Golden or have my own legendary battles like Maximus- Dragon Slayer" with a loud exhale he exited the bathroom to head downstairs.
"Good morning son" Golden eyes stared at him. She was a woman with shoulder length black hair in her late forties. To say she was beautiful would be an understatement. Even with the simple clothes she was wearing it didn't diminish her natural beauty from showing.
"Morning little Zen" another woman with purple hair and similar looks spoke with a slightly mocking tone.
"Morning grand- Aunt Shay" replied Zen.
"Son, you know me, and your aunt Shay are twins, are you calling me old too" she spoke with a mock angry tone and narrowed eyes.
"Gulp"
"Of course not, mother you don't look a day over 20" Zen said quickly.
"Not so clever now huh" laughed Aunt Shay. "Well May, we can continue our discussion later today after Zen's ceremony, see you little Zen" She waved while heading out the door.
"I hate when she calls me that, I'm not a kid anymore" I grumbled.
"Well, you know your Aunt Shay likes to get a rise out of you, more importantly how are you feeling?"
"I feel nervous now that you mentioned it, what.... If I don't awaken a good-"
"Let's stop those thoughts there son, there's no good or bad Classes" she said with a soft tone. "Only what you choose to do with it, are you listening to me son?"
"Yes ma'am " her words did good to clear any unwanted thoughts I had. 'It doesn't matter what class I get; I'll use everything to become the best' I thought.
"Good. I need to run and do some errands, there's a plate of food in the kitchen eat and head to the meeting area with the others" "I love you son, your father and brother would be proud of you" she said gently while heading to the door.
'I wish she didn't say those words' all it did was bring painful and unwanted memories to my mind. I did my best to put it out, it wouldn't do any good to let it get to me now.
With a full belly and a clear head again, I exited the house. The bustling of youths and adults heading to the center of town could be seen. Each one i passed could be seen with excited or nervous looks on their faces.
This was an important day for all,
this is the day we are recognized by the System as adults and given our classes.
I hoped for nothing more than to get a combat class. My father was a [Elemental Mage] in the army and my brother a [Spell Sword]. If I could get either of those classes, I'd be content with it.
But the System picks three classes we have the highest affinity and potential with.
Of course, with God's involved they could nudge it in their favor. 'I wonder if any God's will bless'-
"Hey Zen, you lost in your thoughts again"?
As I searched behind me two guys with larger frames and slightly toned muscles were making their way towards me. Both youths were standing at 1.9 meters, compared to my modest 1.8-meter height. Jake with his long ashy blonde hair and David with his short chestnut hair, moved beside me.
" Yeah, was thinking what would be on my list, I wondered when you both would show."
"Yeah, pops wouldn't let me leave until I cleaned the forge before the day started. Heh pops knows without doubt that I will have the [Blacksmith] Class." Jake replied with confidence.
"I was practicing swinging a sword with my uncle again, you all know I want a combat class" David pitched in.
"Well, I would be doubtful if you both didn't get those classes in your lists, and no worries we still have an hour till the ceremony starts" I replied.
In front there was over 100 other youths chatting and waiting impatiently in front of a stage, this would be the largest group our town Roxford has seen in decades.
Three men and a woman stood on the stage, two of them known as Observers for the ceremony had matching robes on draped in black and having gold embroidery. The colors of our kingdom Hironiden, which is ruled by King Malik Xavier. The last two members are part of the Adventurer Guild, an elderly man in dark purple robes and an oak staff in hand, and a woman with red short hair in leather armor with thin steel plates woven into. On both sides of the stage four soldiers in full silver armor stood with black capes and a golden raven stitched on. With the full helms that covered their faces they gave off an intimidating presence, everyone knows not to cause trouble in front of the king's soldiers, they tend to be heavier handed than most would prefer.
