-The Next Day-
Rune wakes up and he hears his phone give out a ringtone as he looks at what it is he sees Hilda calling as he answers. "Rune are you interested in doing a portal closing?" was what Hilda asked to which Rune replied "Whats in it for me if i accept?". "Not interested in giving you the proposal through call meet me in a cafe." Hilda answered.
After the call ended he received a text that sent the location of the cafe which was not far from his house. As he decided to go to the location he got out of his bed and went to shower. After showering he went and picked out a standard outfit consisting of baggy jeans and a slim shirt with a sleeveless jacket.
After he was done changing he went out of his door to get out of the house before he was stopped by his brother. "Where are you going brother?" he asked "Something related to my new job Tym" Rune replied.
Tym Elwyn a boy with short curly hair and Rune's younger brother of 4 years even though he is younger than Rune he is more skilled compared to him in taking care of himself and the house.
Due to a portal being overcrowded it caused a surge that caused countless of entities to come out and wreck havoc. Rune's parents were a part of a casualty count of beyond 10 thousand, they were not part of the deaths due them having gone to a school trip to a different town.
They were given life insurance from their parents death and used it to buy a small house since the house was part of a bad neighborhood and for their basic needs.
"Brother just dont do anything stupid." Tym furrowed his brows and gave Rune a scrutinizing gaze since he could not convince his brother to quit when he returned home late at night and was told he registered as an Excorsist but he accepted after a promise.
-Flashback-
We see Rune enter the house as he announces his presence "Im home" after he did footsteps from one of the rooms went to the front door. "Your finally home brother what took you so long?" Tym asks relieved that his brother returned safe and sound.
"Tym I have something to tell you lets talk in the kitchen" Rune says to his brother as he walks to the kitchen with Tym confused on why.
After telling him that he almost died but survived and went to see if he can awaken and then became a registered Excorsist. Tym was beyond surprised and asked why "Something I promised to someone, and also for the money so that we can live a better life." was what Rune responded.
"You could have gotten a safer job and not be risking your life on a suicidal job." Tym says as his voice goes a little bit more silent. "Its for the best for us." Rune says.
"Bullshit, Bullshit, BULLSHIT, YOU ARE JUST BORED AND JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DO THAT WHILE NOT THINKING ABOUT THE CONSEQUENCES IF A MISSION GOES WRONG." Tym slowly raises his voice before shouting at him. As he continues his voice slightly goes soft as a wimper is heard "you are my only family left I just, just, dont want to lose you." as tears slowly forms in his eyes as they drop down.
Rune stands up and goes to his brother and silently hugs him tight and promises him that he is not doing it for fun and is doing it just for the income and since the money they received from the life insurance was emptying as he looked at his brother in the eye he promised. "I promise I will stay alive and wont die just please trust me as your older brother." to which he received a nod and Tym showing his pinky to which Rune returned interlocking their pinkies to form a pinky promise. "Your still so childish Tym." as Rune softly smiles.
-Flashback End-
"Ok then I will text you if im going to return home late just save some leftovers if I have not returned yet." Rune says as he is about to head out to the location. "Stay safe." Tym says to his brother before Rune would go out of the house.
-A Hour Later-
Rune could be seen approaching a cafe while listening to music as he sees through the glass of the cafe he could see Hilda and Lancaster sitting at one of the seats near the window. As he enters he turns to where he had seen them and went there quickly saying his greetings before taking a seat facing them both as a briefcase is next to Hilda.
"So? Whats the propsal you have got?" Rune asks before Hilda unlocks the briefcase a reaches for something in it as she pulls out what looks to be a contract.
"Here read it." was all Hilda said as she gives it to him. As he received it he started reading it surprised to see its contents. Since it states that Rune Elwyn if he agrees to join up with Hilda Filch and Lancaster Hart in closing a portal closed he will recive 33% of what is in the portal without getting taxed. As he finishes looking at it he returns his gaze to Hilda as she smiles before asking her of the reason he was asked instead of a more seasoned Excorsist. "Your the only other Excorsist I trust aside from Lancaster." was what Hilda responded.
"How dangerous is the portal well be entering if I accept?." Rune asks a final question "It is a portal that was almost fully closed but due to them having exited before closing it its safe as they killed almost everything there but accidentally left one alive." Hilda explained.
Rune grins before seeing at the bottom of the contract an area where he writs his name and signature. " Wheres a pen since im interested in signing." as he is given a pen he writes his name and signature on the area before he shake hands with Hilda.
"When will we start the portal closing?." He asks once the contract was fully finalized. "4 days from now me and Lancaster will pick you up and go where we will do the portal closing," Hilda responds as Rune was about to get up and go out Hilda stops him. As she throws him something as he catches it ounce he caught it he opens his hand and finds a book.
Before he could ask what it was Hilda told him. " Thats a book on scythemanship read it ounce you get home." Rune decided to ask "Why are you giving this to me do you like me?" as a smile forms. "No I dont I gave it to you so you would not die during the portal closing dumbass." Hilda said with a blank face as Rune just says thanks and leaves the building to go home.
Lancaster who was silent during the whole excange sighed and smiled softly at Hilda. "You should be more honest Miss Hilda." since being her bodygaurd for her whole life he can tell wether she was lying or telling the truth. "You like him dont you?" since he has never seen the Miss going out of her way to help someone and a stranger that she only met for a day.
After he said that he saw a blush starting to appear on hear face as he smiles since he got it right. She tried to deny it but she accidentally stutterd as he just chuckles and tells her not to worry since hes just happy she can act like a girl her age.
-A Hour Later-
-Where Rune Is-
We see Rune look at the book he was given it was nothing special other than 4 scythes on the cover the bottoms of them are at the center each pointing at the 4 direcrions with thr blades forming what looks like to be a windmill.
"Hope it gives good instructions." he says to himself as he is about to reach his home. After he reaches his house he can see his brother out of the house as he is probably going to his part-time job.
"Tym im back" He says as he approaches him. "Welcome back brother so what was it about your job?." Tym greets his brother as he sees him holding a book "Whats that your holding?" he asks to which Rune replys with a smile. "This here is a book on how to use a scythe." Tym ounce he heard asks how he got it.
"This was gift after I accepted something related to portal closing." Rune replied after he did Tym slightly sighs and asks "You really accepted that when you just recently awakend brother?" Rune nods and told him the contents of it which surprised Tym since it was generous.
Tym sighs and asks when he will depart. "4 days from now well I will be going to my room to practice whats written here." as he said it he was about to but was stopped by Tym who suggested to do it in the biggest room since who knows what could go wrong as Tym was about to leave and go to his Part-time job.
-A Few Minutes Later-
Rune can be seen standing in the living room the biggest room with a makeshit weapon he made from watching a tutorial with the book open and being held by a book holder.
"So it says to hold the scythe with one hand at the center while the other is holding the bottom of it." He mumbles to himself as he does it. The makeshift weapon is now steadily held as per books instructions as he turns to the next page and follows whats written on it.
-Hours Later-
He can be seen slowly copying the movements for the scythe in the book. After a few repetitions of that he lays on the floor as he is done for today. "My god that was tiring but im done for today I will just continue this for the next 2 days and rest the next day before the portal closing." As he tells himself when he hears the door being unlocked.
He hears Tym announce his presence as he sees him enter the living room. " You done practicing for today?" He asks as Rune nods his head and tells him hes hungry. "Well then you first shower while I will change my clothes and cook food."
-A Hour Later-
The two of them can be seen eating with smiles on their face as they talk more about their days. After they were done eating they cleaned up the house and went to bed with house clothes.
-4 Days Later-
Rune kept the routine of practicing the scythe for 2 days before resting on the last day before the protal closing he also remembered that he needed to inform the school of this. He called the principal to tell him he is dropping out due to him now being a Excorsist. The principle was surprised but quickly ask him for proof to which he sent a photo with his Excorsist License. After he did the principle accepted it and wished him for a successful carrer. While the call continued he packed clothes and the book he was given in his bag.
As he was done calling the school he heard a car honking at the front it must be them he thought as he was about to go out he saw Tym who told him to return safely. As he went out on the house he saw Hilda and Lancaster with Hilda waving at him in a car that had a sleek design.
As he enters the car in the back seat he asks "So where are we going?". Hilda replys "To the airport, the portal is out of the country in Greece.". Rune was surprised since he has not been out of the country and asks how long would it be till they can return back. "About 3 days if all goes well and a week if things go downhill." Hilda gives a estimation as Lancaster starts the car and to the airport.
-A Few Hours Later-
The three of them are now at the airport waiting for their flight. As they waited Rune checked his phone as he looks at portals in Greece and asks what theme is it to Hilda. "The theme of the gate is the whole asian culture so there might be the same type of entities in them from country to country in asia." Hilda tells Rune as they hear the plane they will board start accepting boarders.
The airplane has started boarding as the three of them get on the plane with first class seats. Rune being nervous on flying due to it being his first times on a plane.
-Hours Later-
-Greece-
They can be seen getting off the plane as they see a big car appear and a man that looks like a bodyguard get out and ask in greek if they are the Excorsist's hired for the portal closing to which Lancaster replys in greek they are as the bodyguards motions for them to enter the car.
As they did they were met with a man with green hair sitting at the center of the car. He asked them something and Lancaster was the one talking but Hilda and Rune couldn't understand due to them speaking greek.
"He said that he was one of the managers of the Excorsist Inc. Here in Greece and told the situation and its not good." Lancaster explained what they were talking about.
"So the Portal we are about to close will become much more dangerous since the entities there now have risen ranks by about 2 since the portal had mainly only fodder ranks they now became commanders and since that happend we have now increased rewards not only we have that we also get to keep what we find there." Lancaster explained what happend to the portal. As a surprise expression appeared on Rune's face and became more so since its only the three of them since the other Excorsists managed by the Greece branch are suppressing and closing portals around the country.
"Great we have higher chance to die right?." he asks but no one answers before the car stops by a forest as they exit and enter the forest. As they walk to the center of the forest they see a door that looks like a sliding door from Japan.
"So this is the portal to the place?" Rune asks as he sees Hilda nod at him with her motioning to Lancaster who makes a huge case appear out of nowhere but seemed to be connected to a ring he had on.
As the case appeared Hilda told Rune to go and open the case as he did he saw what looked to be a scythe with intricate patterns adorned on its handle and body with a white finishing at the bottom of it.
"Its your weapon when were going to the places hell." Hilda explained as Rune just continued observing the scythe. And just practiced swinging it to get used to it.
"Shouldn't you engrave something?" Hilda askes before he remembered and engraved something to make it more light weight he didn't just practice scythemanship he also trained his ability while reading the book from his dream and he now has 2 more enchantments other than fire and wind. He now can lighten a objects weight so that he can carry things more easily and can also reinforce an object to make it harder.
"Uh shall we start the closing?" Rune after enchanting his scythe now asked as both Hilda and Lancaster nodded prepared to close this gate. As both of them enter first
Rune now having his first portal closing breaths in before going in hopeful nothing bad will happen.
