Bidding farewell to my aunt was incredibly difficult. She's the only family I have left, and I've spent more than half my life under her care and love. In many ways, she resembles a mother to me—perhaps that's what being sisters entails.
But how will I know I have no siblings whatsoever. Save for a pubescent cousin who is mostly locked up in his room, engrossed in activities typical of teenagers, which I'd rather not even mention.
And now I go back to my past to shape a future for myself.
I was planning to apply for college as soon as I graduated high school, but then I received the call.
It turns out my parents had been looking out for me and planning for my future since before I even took my first steps.
The Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, called to deliver the news that I was supposed to join them. It was both good and bad news, depending on how you looked at it. Apparently, my parents had already paid for my education by funding the college during its early days of becoming fully approved.
And now, I had only two choices: Either ignore them and all the plans and dreams my parents had for me, or, for the sake of honoring their wishes, I go back to the place I was rescued from.
Well it's all too depressing!
But on the bright side, I happen to love lemonade!
How is that relevant to my situation? Well, life is handing me lemons, and plenty of them at that.
So, as they say, when life gives you lemons, what do you do with them?
Of course, I'm not going to waste perfectly good lemons. Instead, I'll make loads of lemonade, rise to the challenge, and show that small-minded town what I'm made of.
And that's definitely not lemons!
