Chapter 2 - chapter two

As the spaceship named Zeus cruised through the vastness of space toward the distant planet Dicarro, it carried with it a sense of purpose and anticipation. This mission was a significant one for humanity, being the first one entrusted to them by the High Council of the Planetary Alliance.

Inside the ship, Emily, a Korean-American woman with black hair, was going about her routine on the day of the mission. She took a refreshing shower, feeling the water cascade over her body, relaxing as she indulged in the simple pleasure. After drying herself off, she inspected her reflection in the mirror, taking note of her tired eyes. She brushed her teeth and donned her platoon 1 uniform, preparing herself for the tasks ahead.

Walking along the corridor of the spaceship towards the cafeteria, Emily encountered engineers bustling about, each focused on their duties. The environment was stark, devoid of warmth or color, reflecting the seriousness of their mission. Upon reaching the cafeteria, she found herself faced with the cold ambiance that seemed to permeate the entire ship. She grabbed a meal and began to eat, her mind preoccupied with the impending arrival at the destination.

The clock was ticking, with only five hours remaining until they reached their destination, the planet Dicarro. Emily had undergone two years of rigorous training, filled with challenges that tested her endurance and skills. Despite her preparation, she couldn't help but feel the jitters that enveloped everyone on the spaceship.

Suddenly, her train of thought was interrupted by the familiar voices of Mike and Drake, fellow members of her platoon who would be joining her on the mission. They approached her table, their presence bringing a mix of excitement and tension to the atmosphere.

"Emily, Emily," Mike called out, his enthusiasm evident in his voice as he greeted her.

"Today is the day, can you believe it?" he exclaimed, his eyes shining with anticipation.

Emily smiled at Mike's boundless energy, always finding a way to remain cheerful even in the face of uncertainty. On the other hand, Drake, his counterpart in demeanor, seemed more reserved and contemplative.

"I have been dreading this day," Drake remarked, his tone contrasting with Mike's exuberance, prompting Emily to ponder the dynamics of their friendship.

"You're such a downer. Did you not see the planet? It's so huge!" Mike exclaimed, his excitement palpable as he expressed awe at the sight of a new world waiting to be explored.

As the conversation shifted to their mission, Drake turned to Emily, inquiring about any information she might have received regarding their objectives.

"I have not been informed yet, but we are scheduled for a briefing in the next hour," Emily responded, her voice calm and collected despite the underlying nerves.

"I hope we see some action," Mike chimed in, eager to put his skills to the test in a real-world scenario.

"On the contrary, as much as we have advanced, we remain the weakest species in the galaxy. I'd rather not witness any harm befall my comrades," Emily voiced her reservations, sipping on her orange juice as she finished her meal.

Sensing that it was time to proceed to the briefing room, Emily took charge, grabbing Mike and Drake by their collars, playfully dragging them along as they protested, their bantering echoing through the corridors of the spaceship.

On the planet Yggdrasil, the ancient home of the elves, a race renowned for their longevity and rumored to have existed since the dawn of the galaxy, there existed a harmonious blend of advanced technology and pristine nature. The planet boasted towering trees that reached heights unimaginable, while a diverse array of animals thrived in perfect equilibrium, earning Yggdrasil the reputation of being a paradise among the stars.

Within the grand palace of Yggdrasil, Arwen and Celebrian, two prominent figures in elven society, sat together at a table, leisurely sipping tea as they gazed out upon the breathtaking scenery that surrounded them. An air of tranquility enveloped them, adding to the serenity of the moment.

"Today marks the humans' first mission," Arwen remarked casually, taking a sip of his tea.

Celebrian, who had been vocal about his reservations regarding humanity's inclusion in the council, shook his head slightly. "I don't understand why they were chosen. They strike me as an ambitious lot."

"They do seem intriguing," Arwen replied with a smile, pouring himself another cup of tea.

Celebrian's brows furrowed as he expressed his concerns, "But can we overlook the history of disasters caused by races like the Cronos? Humanity is not like us elves; their unchecked ambition often leads to destruction."

Arwen met Celebrian's gaze with a knowing smile. "You hold us in high regard, my friend."

Confusion clouded Celebrian's features as he questioned, "How could I not? We epitomize grace and wisdom."

"Ah, but such admiration can sometimes blind us to our own flaws," Arwen replied cryptically, his smile never wavering.

Celebrian's curiosity peaked as he pressed, "What do you mean by that?"

Arwen chuckled lightly, brushing off the tension with a wave of his hand. "Oh, it's nothing of importance," he said, finishing his tea in a nonchalant manner. "By the way, where is Sadry?"

"He's currently off-planet," Celebrian replied, a hint of fondness in his voice.

"Ah, the eternal wanderer," Arwen remarked with a playful glint in his eyes. "His thirst for travel knows no bounds. Perhaps he is a bit too eager at times, wouldn't you agree?" he teased, directing his gaze at Celebrian.
