Uchiha Residence, Mount Ōeyama.
These days, Kaito has been deeply engrossed in his work, fully committed, but the experiments haven't shown much progress.
The Divine Tree's branches are a highly active material.
It is indeed feasible to simply use this material to make paper, but there's a fatal flaw.
That is, it cannot absorb natural energy.
"I should have thought of this earlier," Kaito said, scratching his head and speaking to Yūrei, who had come to deliver his meal. "When the Divine Tree's shell was summoned by Nagato, it still needed to absorb his life force to fight."
While helping to organize the scattered papers on the floor, Yūrei asked, "But when the Divine Tree descended upon the earth, it absorbed both natural energy and the power of the Dragon Vein to bear fruit."
"I know," Kaito picked up his chopsticks, "I've already figured out the reason."
"What did you figure out, Sweet Kaito?" Yūrei stacked the papers filled with writing according to their numbers and set them aside.
After swallowing his food, Kaito explained, "Later, the Sage of Six Paths extracted the energy from the Divine Tree to create the Tailed Beasts, and after the nine Tailed Beasts die, they can all revive by absorbing natural energy."
Yūrei smiled, "I understand too. It must have been Hagoromo who tampered with the Divine Tree's shell, fearing it might revive on its own after losing its energy."
"That's right!" Kaito agreed. "It's just like how, if you exhaust your demonic energy, you can recover over time; there's no reason the Divine Tree could only recover by regaining its original energy."
"But even knowing this, it doesn't help much," Kaito said, a bit frustrated. "I still don't know what to do."
"Maybe Sweet Kaito should try using a different material?" Yūrei suggested, having finished tidying up the room and sitting down in front of Kaito.
"No, it's okay. I'll continue researching the Divine Tree," Kaito shook his head. "Switching materials is an easy choice, but I don't want to take a step back unless it's absolutely necessary."
Yūrei glanced at him and knocked on the table.
"Alright, put the experiments aside for now. Sweet Kaito should hurry up and eat."
"I know."
Kaito quickly lowered his head and started eating seriously.
At the same time, Sasuke also sat down at the dining table.
He looked at the food on the table and asked, "Granny Chiri, where's Uncle?"
"Today, Kaito's lunch was delivered by Yūrei," Chiri replied while wiping the furniture with a cloth.
"Then, I'll start eating." Sasuke clasped his hands together and began eating quickly.
Chiri smiled at him and reminded, "No need to rush, take your time."
"Mhm," Sasuke nodded while chewing his food.
Sasuke still finished his lunch quickly and automatically stacked his bowls and chopsticks, bringing them to the kitchen to wash.
"I'll do it," Chiri walked over and took the bowls and chopsticks from Sasuke. "How's your training been going these days?"
"Not bad," Sasuke replied as he started boiling water.
"This kid still has a long way to go!" Izuna approached, leaning against the doorway, watching the two of them.
"Hmph," Sasuke glanced at him with some dissatisfaction.
"What? Not convinced?" Izuna teased him, "You've learned everything you need to learn, but you still lack the most important thing."
Sasuke asked, "Is it the Mangekyō Sharingan?"
Izuna shook his head, "No, it's something even more important."
"What is it?" Sasuke asked.
Izuna explained, "For example, my brother Uchiha Madara and I both had the Mangekyō Sharingan. Whether it was Taijutsu, Ninjutsu, or Genjutsu, our levels were about the same, yet I still couldn't defeat him. Why?"
Sasuke thought for a moment and said, "Is it the amount of chakra?"
"That's part of it, but it's not the main reason," Izuna said. "The most important thing is that my brother is naturally better at fighting than I am."
"I think I understand," Sasuke nodded. "It's about combat experience, right?"
"Experience is part of it. In our time, ninjas went to the battlefield at a young age, so there was no lack of combat experience," Izuna explained. "You do lack experience now, but some people are just naturally better at fighting."
"Are you saying I'm not naturally skilled?" Sasuke felt a bit annoyed.
"It's not that," Izuna crossed his arms. "It's just that as a ninja, you've grown up in too comfortable an environment. Even if you have strong combat talent, you haven't had many opportunities to hone it."
Sasuke fell into thought.
"Think about it carefully," Izuna continued. "No matter how many ninjutsu techniques you learn, what's most important is to develop your own combat system."
"I understand," Sasuke nodded.
"Speaking of which, in this regard, Kaito is a counterexample," Chiri said with a smile as she put away the washed dishes.
"It's understandable; that kid has had an even more comfortable life than Sasuke," Izuna remarked. "But since he's not a ninja, he doesn't need sophisticated combat skills."
Chiri nodded, "Although Kaito doesn't have combat experience, he's very smart and knows how to respond in any given situation."
"That's enough," Izuna said. "He's more of a strategist than a fighter. On the battlefield, he's better suited for support roles."
"Looks like Izuna-senpai has a pretty high opinion of me," Kaito's voice suddenly sounded, "I'm flattered."
Izuna turned to see Kaito holding a stack of bowls and chopsticks. With a snort, he asked, "A clone?"
Kaito nodded, walked into the kitchen, placed the bowls and chopsticks in the sink, and smiled, "Sorry for the trouble, Chiri-senpai."
"No problem," Chiri replied. "How's the research going, Kaito?"
"Not much progress, but I'll keep at it. Is Sasuke boiling water? Please bring some tea over," Kaito said before turning into a paper figure.
"Hmph, always ordering people around," Sasuke muttered.
"He can't help it; the patriach is probably used to it," Izuna said with a hint of schadenfreude, "As a junior, just do as he says."
"Hmph!"
The water boiled, and Sasuke turned off the stove, picked up the kettle, and walked out of the kitchen.
"Actually, Sasuke is quite talented, isn't he?" Chiri commented as she washed the dishes Kaito had brought in.
Izuna nodded, "That kid has strong talent, but he easily gets carried away."
"He's still young; a little pride is normal," Chiri said gently.
"Kaito mentioned that his eyes are already at the critical point of evolving. Given the current situation, there's not much time for him to grow slowly," Izuna remained strict. "A ninja can only progress quickly through tough battles."
"I understand," Chiri dried her hands with a cloth after putting the dishes away. "I just feel a bit sorry for the child."
"Don't worry," Izuna said, turning to leave. "I'll keep watching over him."
